GRA 2019 - The Bridge Home

Today, students had a good work session with their groups on their GRA Projects. All students are working collaboratively and are following our C-Chart for collaboration. All groups have chosen a creative way to display their learning. Students created the criteria for the project and are using their project handouts to make sure they focus on the learning intentions and the success criteria. In the afternoon, students added to their background knowledge by watching part of an 'EARLY HUMANS' documentary called, 'Out of the Cradle'.

In paragraph form, please write about 2 different points from the student side of the C-Chart for collaboration.

2.) Pay attention to the givens (capitals, spelling, grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, etc)
3.) Include 2 points from the C-Chart for collaboration. Give examples for each of the 2 points.
4.) One example must be for something your group is working on.

Today me and my partners, Sophia and Megan were working on our GRA poster. Personally I think we were pretty self-regulated. First of all, we all listened to our ideas and even help each other when we couldn't understand something. Second of all, we kept our area clean and organised and when we got a little loud, we tried to keep our noise levels lower.

my group is doing a Global Read Aloud (GRA) project. Our idea is a interview of two major organizations helping people in need. If we want to reach success, we must follow the C-chart for collaborative work.

At first, we were not sure on what to do. We kept interrupting each other's ideas. For example, one member was talking about Minecraft, but someone else buts in, and talk about slideshows. Later on, we started to get serious. we managed to decide on a project that all of us want to do.

Next, my group is doing very good when it comes to doing our fair share. No one is slacking and depending on other members to help them with their work. We all have assigned jobs. Every one of us is pulling our own weight. That makes it easier to work together. If we didn't do our fair share, we would have to rush the project and probably be annoyed at the person who did not do their work.

Last but not least, we were very focused on the project. At the start, we were not very organized, but now we are very organized, and very focused on the project at hand. There is still some things to work on, but overall we got a lot of things done in two days (or was that three🤔). For instance, today we got a lot of the script done (we're doing a interview). Th script is nearing completion.

Altogether, my group is following the C-charts. There were some troubles (it includes the printer), but we managed to fix it without much chaos going on.

1. Self-regulate (noise level, environment).
e.g If you are in a space where there is a lot of noise then you should move so you don't have to speak over people and your noise level doesn't go up.
2. Do your fair share of work.
e.g Make sure that everyone is doing something and not just one person (unless you are by yourself).

C-Charts and Self Regulation to important things we need to be a successful learner.
1. Self regulate noise levels.
To do this you can move to a different space if the place you are in is not the best choice for you.
Or you can remind yourself of the c-charts and self regulation points.
2. Actively listen to speaker
Take turns on saying your opinions or whatever you want to say
Wait patiently for the person to finish speaking before saying something.
In conclusion, there are many steps to each point of self regulation strategies on C-charts

Today we were working on our GRA project! GRA stands for global read aloud. Everyone was calm and got lots done. At least I hoped so. Here's how our group followed the C-chart.
Firstly our group worked as a team and we were opened to new ideas. For example we were going to do a play at first then, one of our group members didn't want to do a play. She suggested a glog instead and we all agreed! That's being open to new ideas. If everyone wanted to do different ideas and people kept arguing. Nobody would accomplish anything, and you just might get a beginning! Being open to other ideas is very important because of these reasons.
The one thing we could work on is focusing and staying on task. Most of the time we were pretty focused and self regulated, but sometimes we were talking about other things not related to the project. Focusing is important because if you spend to much time talking or other things. You get less done then you could have done with focusing. Getting less done, gives you more homework which equals less free time to do what you actually want to do! This can be said for other things to. But it's all thanks to C-charts! Without them we might not know how to act.
In conclusion C-charts are very helpful for learning.

My group is myself Mi and Brieana. We are doing the GRA project that stands for Global read aloud. We are doing a Glogster on friendship from the beige home. In our group everyone got along and completed work and here’s how.

To begin with our group all contributed to the glogster. We all tried to find quotes in the beginning and we all looked for pictures. Also we all added something to our paragraph and typed. I believe that we all followed the criteria and contributed.

Another thing I think that we accomplished was self-regulating our noise levels. I think that we self-regulated by using a quiet voice not specking and listening to the speaker. I think that we followed the c-chart for this rule.

In conclusion I think that the c-charts helped further our learning and keep in control

verall, my group is a success we are well ahead of most and should be ready by the morning of Friday. Other than the slight war we had with the library printer, it kept on printing smaller than we asked for, but Yi Ming helped with that so it wasn't a real bugger.

During our GRA working period I think that Charlie and I were pretty self-regulated. We did a few slides and basically almost done our whole powerpoint. Sometimes we would be chatting about random stuff (mostly me) but most of the time we got the work done.

We started off we got our iPads and went straight into working on the slides, but it lagged a lot and was really delayed. The two of us were pretty much able to self-regulate our noise levels, and we both contributed to the project nicely. We also asked to each other for our opinions before putting something on a slide, for example a picture. Again we did have a problem with the lag but it worked out all right.

Anyways, C-charts really help us to improve and focus on our learning! If we didn't have them, we probably would not be as self-regulated as right now.

I like to collaborate. It’s easier to complete something.

In class we are working on a GRA project. We collaborate together to complete the project. To collaborate we need to stay on topic (what we’re working on) and making sure everyone gets to be in the project (what we’re good at).

How is your group doing in your final GRA project? My group is doing really good. We each did our parts so that's why our group is getting work done. You wanna how we did it?

One thing is that we shared our ideas. For an example, we made a list of cool songs/music for our book trailer. (They are suppose to be sad.) Another thing that we did is that we stayed on task. Everyone needs time for their project. If they don`t how can they do it. Today I kind of got off topic. Well mostly because I was waiting for Amy and Catherine to finish their planning and mini paragraph. Me and Mealea are doing the end of our book trailer and Catherine and Amy are doing the beginning. So we can`t go a head. Other than that I think we can complete this project by Friday.

Working in groups are great mostly because you don`t have to do all the work and you can learn from other perspectives. What does your group do to help you guys to finish this project?

1 Self-regulate noise levels

You need to self regulate your noise levels because if you are too loud you will not get any work done.

2 Doing your fair share of work

I think that doing your fair share of work will help you improve because if you do everything and your groupmates do nothing you wont get any variety of ideas.

This week, my group has been doing a book trailer. In order to make a good one, we need to follow criteria. Also not just criteria for the project, we need to follow the criteria for teamwork. One point we followed is share the work load. Even though we didn't do the same things, it was the same amount. For example, I was inn charge of organization and planning. Konoshin and Ty is in charge of doing the work and making sure it's done correct. I also do some of the work. Another point we followed is listen to others people's ideas. I figured this was really important because just our own idea's are not good enough, however, a lot of ideas put together is great! In other words I think that teamwork is really important.

Personally, I think our group did quite decent on it. A few disagreements here and there, but nothing we couldn't solve. And that was all thanks to the C-Charts.

We'd list the pros and cons of the ideas, and decided on whether it was practical and beneficial. For example, Ethel wants to paint the poster based off the book cover, but I want to leave it blank. We list the pros and cons of having it painted and having it not painted and see which one seemed like a better option.
Secondly, we stayed on task and used our time as productively as possible. We wouldn't go on google searching up pictures of deformed cats, but instead discuss our project, answer questions among us, and occasionally talk about something slightly off-topic, but only when appropriate (such as if we were walking down the hallway, etc). For example, if we were working on our paragraphs and had any questions about our paragraph or decided to ask our peers for any descriptive feedback, we'd help one another and avoid getting off task. On the other hand, if we were walking down the hallway to retrieve something or ask a question, we'd talking normally.

Working as a group is crucial to successfully work well with your peers. Next time you feel like you can't work well with your group, simply create a C-Chart!

In my opinion, C-charts guide us towards success. Without criteria nothing could be done effectively or done at all.

One thing my group and I think that we should work on is to try to refrain from getting frustrated with the iPads, because they were not the most efficient iPads.

One thing I think we did well in is the fact that we were very self regualted and asked each other for our opinions before adding new slides or putting a picture in our slides.

In conclusion,I think that C-charts really make anything in general easier to do because of more specific guidelines.

C-charts create a criteria and expectation for when we work for a certain topic. we need guidance to help us succeed and do our best. In this case we used c-charts for collaborative work time.

My group was open minded to each others ideas. We listened to ideas and used them if applicable. We didn't make fun of the ideas received, we respectfully talked about how we could apply the idea to our project.

Another point we used, was the self regulate while we are working. At times we needed to communicate because this is a group project and to succeed communication is the key to success. But at the times we didnt need to communicate (working on our own parts, individual working) we were self regulated. Even when we were communicating, we were respectful of the classes in session around us.

C-charts are key to success because you need guidance and expectations to help us know where we need to set our standards for. I think that this year we have been very self regulated and we have been responsible when we forget the c-charts. Overall i think we need C-charts to keep us as the teachers expect.

So far, our group has made great progress, although I doubt we will be finished by Friday. But how can we get extending in our projects? The answer, is c charts.

Students should share the work load in group projects so that everyone has something to do and makes everything more efficient. Everyone should also share and listen to other group members' opinions to have a bigger variety of ideas.

In conclusion, c charts are a huge part of achieving.g success.

Why do we use C-Charts? We use C-Charts for many different things like to know the criteria and a reminder to not get distracted or to not distract others. I personally really like the idea of having C-Charts around for many different reasons and one being they help give reminders to self regulate or what to do when doing this specific activity.

How is our group using C-Charts during collabarative work time? Well we're working on our script and its going really well and we are helping each other if we can't find ideas on what to write or how to phrase it properly and we work together a lot and without each other it will be easy harder as we help each a lot.

One thing we really do well on is self regulating since everyday we make a ton of progress and we don't get distracted all the time and just talking. We have set goals and we try to accomplish the goals and go beyond and make more goals after you finish those goals.

In conclusion, our group is using the collabortation C-Charts and we help each other a lot.

Using success criteria, you can reach success, it's in the name. I think that my group is well on our way to success.

While we worked, we made sure that we regulated our noise levels by giving each other reminders when somebody got too loud. I feel that we were so focused on our work later on that we didn't really communicate unless it was necessary. So I guess that also means that we stayed on task. I don't think there was a huge point from the criteria that we need to work on, meaning that we followed the criteria pretty well.

I think that we stayed pretty self regulated today, how did you do?

we are all required to do gra. GRA stands for Global Read Aloud. Although it does share a acronym with a dlc for the 2010 obsidian game Fallout New Vegas it has nothing in common. Its where you read a book with a bunch of people from all around the world like new zealand or the USA. For this we have to do a project which we only got a week to do.
C Charts or criteria charts should be used for success. However my group is not really doing it. The workload is split up in a way so that some people have to much much more than others and certain people can not stay on topic and take a good 15 to 20 mins finding 4 photos. There isnt any part of the C Chart that we are doing particularly well to be honest. The project is going terribly, its rushed and unorganized. Certain people dont really do anything and all of us keep getting distracted I guess we arent particually loud so thats a thing we are doing well i guess
in conclusion choosing the right group members is probably one of the if not the most important parts as the wrong members could be unproductive, uncommunicative or worse. Follow C Charts as well and with good group members you are pretty much garunteed a ok mark

Do you know what is a c-chart is? C-charts are for students and teachers so we can focus on working and work in peace. From the student side of the c-chart there are many points to keep us self regulated. I chose self regulated your noise level and stay on task.

In G.R.A collaboration work time with my group, I self regulated my noise level and I tried to focus on my work by not talking to my friends that much . Also I when I didn’t talk to my friends, I stay on task so it’s a win win.
