@ Logan - Thank you Jesse for sharing the questions with me on Drive.

Logan, please read the questions over a few times and try to understand it.

Number 4 is basically asking if you flip the image over the x axis and then the y axis, would your resulting image be the same if you first flipped it over the y axis and then the x-axis? Ask your parents to explain it to you if you still don't understand.

#5 is pretty straight forward. When a question asks you to describe a translation, you need to explain how many units it slides horizontally (left and right) and/or vertically (up and down).

Let me know if you have any other questions. Don't give up! Ask your parents to help you understand it if it still doesn't make sense.

Well before the advent of recognizable civilization in the region, the land was occupied by hominids. Peking Man, a skull fossil discovered in 1927 CE near Beijing, lived in the area between 700,000 to 200,000 years ago and Yuanmou Man, whose remains were found in Yuanmou in 1965 CE, inhabited the land 1.7 million years ago. Evidence uncovered with these finds shows that these early inhabitants knew how to fashion stone tools and use fire. While it is commonly accepted that human beings originated in Africa and then migrated to other points around the globe, China’s paleoanthropologists “support the theory of `regional evolution’ of the origin of man” (China.org) which claims an independent basis for the birth of mankind. “The Shu Ape, a primate weighing only 100 to 150 grams and being similar to a mouse in size, lived [in China] in the Middle Eocene Epoch 4.5 to 4 million years ago. Its discovery posed a great challenge to the theory of African origin of the human race” (China.org). This challenge is considered plausible due to genetic links between the Shu Ape fossil and both advanced and lower primates, standing, then, as a `missing link’ in the evolutionary process. However one interprets this data (the Chinese conclusions have been disputed by the international community), the solid evidence provided by other finds substantiates a very ancient lineage of hominids and human beings in China and a high level of sophistication in early culture. One example of this is Banpo Village, near Xi’an, discovered in 1953 CE. Banpo is a Neolithic village which was inhabited between 4500 and 3750 BCE and comprises 45 houses with floors sunk into the ground for greater stability. A trench encircling the village provided both protection from attack and drainage while man-made caves dug underground were used to store food. 1.) Egyptian society was structured like a pyramid. At the top were the gods, such as Ra, Osiris, and Isis. Egyptians believed that the gods controlled the universe. Therefore, it was important to keep them happy. They could make the Nile overflow, cause famine, or even bring death.

In the social pyramid of ancient Egypt the pharaoh and those associated with divinity were at the top, and servants and slaves made up the bottom.
The Egyptians also elevated some human beings to gods. Their leaders, called pharaohs, were believed to be gods in human form. They had absolute power over their subjects. After pharaohs died, huge stone pyramids were built as their tombs. Pharaohs were buried in chambers within the pyramids.

Because the people of Egypt believed that their pharaohs were gods, they entrusted their rulers with many responsibilities. Protection was at the top of the list. The pharaoh directed the army in case of a foreign threat or an internal conflict. All laws were enacted at the discretion of the pharaoh. Each farmer paid taxes in the form of grain, which were stored in the pharaoh's warehouses. This grain was used to feed the people in the event of a famine.

2.)Essentially, we believe that Egyptian law was based on a common sense view of right and wrong, following the codes based on the concept of Ma'at. Ma'at represented truth, order, balance and justice in the universe. This concept allowed that everyone, with the exception of slaves, should be viewed as equals under the law, regardless of wealth or social position. However, when punishment was carried out, often the entire family of the guilty suffered as well. For example, when individuals were sentenced to exile, their children were automatically outlawed along with them. If a relative deserted from military service, or defaulted on the labor demands of the state, the entire family might be imprisoned.

Law and the Legal System in Ancient Egypt

A gold Ma'at pendant which is currently in the British Museum was probably more or less an official badge of legal officials. Some statues of high officials from the Late Period are shown wearing such a pendant. During the Greek period, Greek law existed alongside that of the Egyptian law, but usually these laws favored the Greeks. When the Romans took control of Egypt, the Roman legal system which existed throughout the Roman empire was imposed in Egypt. However, prior to the Greek period, ultimately it was the king as a living god who was the supreme judge and lawmaker. Of course much of this power was delegated to others. The legal and administrative systems seem not to have been well defined, and so at times anyone in an authoritative position may have made legal judgements. We know that the king's viziers often acted as judges, and theoretically, anyone with a legal problem could bring a case before a vizier, though arranging such an audience with busy, important government officials may have at times been difficult. But more specifically, we believe that the title, Overseer of the Six Great Mansions, refers to our modern equivalent of a magistrate. Mansions probably refers to the main law court in Thebes, though we believe there were other major courts in Egypt. Minor cases were tried by a local council of elders and each town or village had its own local kenet in charge of legal proceedings. Such cases usually involved minor problems, such as default on loans. Still, the most important matters were probably reported to the king who would then decide the case and the proper justice.

The ancient Egyptians were wonderful traders. They traded gold, papyrus, linen, and grain for cedar wood, ebony, copper, iron, ivory, and lapis lazuli (a lovely blue gem stone.) Ships sailed up and down the Nile River, bringing goods to various ports. Once goods were unloaded, goods were hauled to various merchants by camel, cart, and on foot. (Donkeys were used by farmers, not traders usually.) Egyptians traders met traders from other civilizations just beyond the mouth of the Nile, to trade for goods brought to them, but they did not often travel themselves much beyond the Nile River.

For social ranking, merchants were right under scribes in importance. They were respected.

The ancient Egyptians bought goods from merchants. They traded goods through their shops and in the public marketplaces.

1.) The ancient Egyptians did have a court system. There was a lower court and a high court. The lower court was made up of a group of elders in each town. The supreme high court judge was Pharaoh, who assigned his vizier to this job, to hear the case and act as judge.
2.) A serious case would be if you were found guilty of something and your punishment was exile. If that was your punishment, your children would be exiled with you. If you believed the punishment did not fit the crime, you could plead your case in front of the Vizier. The Vizier could reverse the decision of the lower court. The Vizier also had the power to find you guilty, but give you a lesser punishment. But, if you simply brought your case in the front of the Vizier to buy yourself some time, your punishment could be increased rather than decreased

The ancient Egyptian legal system was based on common sense. The Egyptian goddess Ma'at was the goddess of justice. Basically, the law followed the teachings of Ma'at, according to the priests, about what was right and wrong

Laws

The form of torture is to wind and twist the arms around a pole whilst the accused is beaten, with the torture increasing in the event that the accused thieves are usually punished by public whipping through the streets of the local community. Another option is caning in front of the judge.

Language

Mandarin is the official language in china.
Cantonese is the other major language and is spoken mainly in the south. In Chinese some words are pronounced the same but has different meaning.

Mesopotamia was actually ruled by kings. The kings only ruled a single city though, instead of the entire
civilization. Like the city of Babylon was ruled by King Hammurabi. Each king and city designed the rules and systems that they thought would be most beneficial for them.

Social classes/
The priests// priests were exremely powerful and important. They showed others how to behave and keep the gods happy. Priests in sumer (and babylon) were also the local doctors. So if you got sick, you sent for a priest. The priests had a different look, they would shave their heads so people know who they are. The upper class// both men and women were the fancy dancy ones. They would wear jewerly, stuff like that. Men had long hair and long beards, and also wore a skirt type garment. And women, they would wear long dresses, with one shoulder bare. But in the colder days, they would wear cloaks made out of wool to keep warm. The lower class// the working class wore the same garments like the rich men. But theirs were NOT made out of the same materials. They too wore jewelry, but it wasnt made out of gold, or precious stones. The slaves// sumerains did keep the slaves. When they defeated other towns or tribes in battle, they would bring back prisoners as their slaves. The king and the priests kept most of the slaves, but wealthy sumerians could buy slaves to work for them.

Economy/ trade
Mesopotamia was a region which did not have many natural resources. Yet, people who lived there would trade with neighbouring countries in order to aquire the recourses they needed to survive. Grains, oil, and textiles were actually taken from babylonia to foreign cities were exchanged for timber, wine, precious metal and stones. In addition, merchants from other countries travelled to babylonia to exchanged their goods.

1) Rome was founded in 753 BC by Romulus. Roman legend says that Romulus had a twin brother called Remus. As babies they were abandoned in the area which later became Rome. A she-wolf found and raised them, but when they grew up Romulus fought and killed Remus and became the first ruler of Rome!

2)The population of the city of Rome is around 2.7 million. The entire metropolitan area of Rome has an estimated 3.7 million people

There was something called ' the Twelve tables". This is what they went by. But before this they developed they're language by the Greek government, this happened before the 7th Centry AD. The development of Roman law contained more than a thousand years for it to be legal,from the Twelve Tables to the Corpus Juris Civilis ordered by Emperor Justinian I. This Roman law, the Justinian Code, was effective in the Eastern Roman Empire , and also served as a basis for legal practice in continental Europe, as well as in Ethiopia, and most former colonies of European nations, including Latin America. But before the twelve tables Romans had a private law that only roman citizens could only use.This was because of they're religion. But soon after that they found out about laws. Today, they do not use the twelve tables.

1. Romes laws was like the eye of and eye law were if you take someones eye out they can legally take your eye out.
2. Romes army was HUGE and they were the war people of they're time period. they had a powerful army that could wipe out most and were the only big area to survive when most of the other settlements were dying.
3. Rome traded with people in its nearby area and traded food because places like Egypt you cant really grow food.

1.) In India people do bhangra that is part of our culture. It is a way to show feelings in my opinion. I like to do bhangra, because I find it fun and the songs are really good. Like Dyamontae likes a song called Do you know.

2.) Our food is really spicy and it shows that we like really spicy food. A lot of people around the world like to eat punjabi food like samosa.

3.) There is a spical clothing called Cortha pujama that is some of the fanciest clothes that Indian people wear.

In socials I'm learning about cuneiform and Mesopotamia
Did you know that the stele consist of 282 laws all written in cuneiform and girls and the poor family wouldn't be able to read it because only boys were able to go to school. It is because they believed that girls should only stay home and cook and clean. Which isn't true and it's very sexist. But yeah if your weren't rich you wouldn't be able to know what the rules were.

Qin Shi Huangdi had made very strict laws and taxed everyone in China. When he died, rebellions broke out and the Quin dynasty fell. Then the Han dynasty was made by Liu Bang which began in 206BCE. Liu Bang organized a civil service to run the empire which was ran by government officials who made sure laws were being followed and collected the taxes.Then the Sui dynasty came after which made many changes to strengthen China.

We know this from the Rig Veda. Only men from the highest caste - the Brahmins - could be rulers in the government, or even ministers or clerks in the government. These men did not allow women to rule either. Most of India was still divided into small kingdoms, each with their own king.

I chose China because China is a great place to visit when your on vacation how do I know because I have been there before.
China has made many great inventions well...some are really dumb.
China started with small villages but when time goes past China has been the largest country right now. One of the inventions that China made was the passenger elevator. The elevator is a good way for people that cannot use there legs. China has made lots inventions but I can't name them all and that's why I pick China for my project.

The ancient Egyptians created paintings to make the after life of the deceased a pleasant place and accordingly, beautiful paintings were created. The paintings survived due to the extremely dry climate. The paintings are painted in such a way that it shows a profile view, and a side view of the animal or person. Some examples of such paintings are the paintings of Osiris and Warriors

3.) Egyptian law facts
In Egypt, when you get caught doing something bad, you get exiled with your children! If the punishment isn't enough, you can plead the case in front of the vizier. The vizier also had the power to find you guilty, but give you a lesser punishment. But, if you brought your case in the front of the vizier to buy yourself some time, your punishment could be increased rather than decreased.

According to Greek philosophers slavery did not exist in ancient India.

The earliest school of medicine known to humans is Ayurveda. Ayurveda was developed mainly by Charaka, the great Indian physician, during ancient times. It is the only system which takes the holistic view of the person being treated.
