INQUIRY SELF-ASSESSMENT

PLANNERS

Today, students viewed an example of how to complete a assessment for their mini inquiry assignments. Then, they completed a self-assessment based on the criteria. Students were able to visualize their strengths and areas for improvement. Then, they uploaded their handouts to FreshGrade and completed their learning reflections. We have been using planners daily since the beginning of the year. At the end of every day, students are instructed to take their planners out to write down the daily planner message. Parents, please check to make sure your child is doing this.
IMPORTANT:
1.) PARENTS:

Your child should be completing their planners on a daily basis and showing them to you . Parent initials are optional, but encouraged.
Please ensure when your child completes their mathwork (textbook) that they mark their work and do their corrections. Then they can ask question in class the next day so I can clairfy any misunderstandings.

LEARNING/PLANNER:
1.) READING: Read for 30 minutes and log.

2.) SCIENCE: Lab write-ups due on Friday.

3.) INQUIRY/SOCIAL STUDIES: Complete learning reflections on FreshGrade if you did not finish in class.

4.) MATH: Pg 72-73, complete/mark/correct

5.) CAREER EDUCATION: Show your parents your planner message and have them initial it.

6.) POST A RESPONSE:

LEARNING INTENTION: I can explain how or why I should complete my daily planner at the end of every school day.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) Paragraph format (engaging hook, 2-3 supporting points/examples in the body, and a conclusion that ties everything together.
2.) BODY: 2-3 supporting points/examples.
3.) GIVENS: Check your spelling, capitals, punctuation, sentence structure, and grammar.
4.) SELF/PEER-ASSESSMENT: Complete a self-assessment based on the above criteria and give one student peer feedback based on the criteria above.
5.) REVISION: Post a revised version based on your self-assessment and add one sentence after your revised version indicating exactly what you changed.
6.) EVALUATION: You will be evaluated on this PAR on FreshGrade tomorrow.

FEEDBACK: Please check the givens (For example, when you said "You aren’t sure what day it’s due either today, Tomorrow, Or maybe even next week?" The reason why we should complete our daily planner at the end of every school day is because if you go home and didn’t write something in your daily planner you might forget something important like parent signature sheets. Another situation that could happen if you did not write something in your daily planner is that we have to do post a response and when days pass without posting, somebody might tell you to do some PAR, but when you check the website, you missed lots of PARS and you need to lot of catching up to do. An example of not writing stuff in your planner could be like this as a story: School is done you forgot to write in your planner, then you come home and play video games for hours forgetting all your important stuff that your teacher told you to do at home and then when it was the next day you go to school but then the teacher asks a question: “Did you complete your PAR and give the sheet for your parents to sign for the field trip?”. Then you started to freak out that you regret on not writing on your planner. But the field trip was a trip that you always wanted to go which was Legoland and you always wanted to be there but when your parents did not sign the sheet so, you cannot go to Legoland. Then you finally realized that it was important to complete your daily planner everyday as there could also be some homework that can only be done at home such as your science lab on 1 note and counting organisms on excel (on the last day almost becoming due). This could happen to you if you do not complete your daily planner and it’s always important to write everything down.

Do you ever forget to do your homework? Well, there's a simple solution to that problem. In fact, it could be right under your nose! ... Or perhaps in your desk or backpack. That's right, it's your planner. By writing down all of the things that you need to do in your planner, you can look at it once you get home so you don't forget. Try to write in it every day, and try not to lose it, so you can be more productive in completing your homework. Maybe, you could ask a parent to sign your agenda every day when you get home, so it can remind you to check your planner, or show your teacher that you're using your planner. You might be thinking, "Writing in your planner takes too long; it's a waste of time. I don't want to do it." Well, to be more productive in writing in your planner, get our your planner as quickly as you can at the end of the day, and write in it right when Mr. Hong is writing the planner message on the board. Those are just a few simple things that you can do to help you become a more productive planner-writer. Feel free to use any of them!

@bethany - I love your paragraphs because they always have this hint of originality to them, especially your introductions 👌.

Feedback - Every time I read one of your paragraphs, its either you have no mistakes at all, or barely have any. For this PAR, I think you had none. I personally think you could challenge yourself with your PAR,(if you have the time), for example, put in some more detail! (You could just add anything in general that's still associated with the main idea).

Do you ever forget to do your homework? Or, at least, make the excuse that you did? Well, no more excuses. It's time to get out your planner. By writing everything that you need to do in your planner, you can look back at it when you get home to remind yourself what you must do. In a way, it's kind of like a to-do list. And, the best part is, when you finish everything, you get to check it off. You might not think so, but it's so satisfying to see all of those checkmarks. One thing that you might be thinking, however, is that writing in your planner takes too much time, or you don't need to because you can remember everything. Well, I'll be honest. Writing in your planner can be a little bit tedious sometimes, and sometimes you really can remember everything. It's true. Writing in your planner can really just be an extra precaution. But, I wouldn't take any chances. For example, when we got our Grade 7 Grad hoodies, everyone had to pay for them. Otherwise, you probably would end up without a one. Often, I forget to show my parents a form, or notice for school. So, I'd probably also forget to tell them to pay for the hoodie. But, if you write it in your agenda and you check it when you get home, you'll see it, and remember what you need to do. You still might be thinking, "But, it still takes too long and it's too inconvenient to write in your planner every day." Well, here's a trick for you. If you write in your planner right when Mr. Hong is writing the message on the board, you'll probably be done at almost the same time Mr. Hong is. So, once you're finished everything for the day, whip out your planner and a pencil, look at the board, and start writing. And, that's it for you. That's all you need to do to be a great planner-writer! If you ever find yourself slacking and no longer writing in your planner as much as you should, feel free to come back to the website and read this again. It'll always be here!

Speeding back to my house as quickly as I could, the world around me blurred, and all I could think of was the piano exam I had in five minutes. First of all, using a daily planner can ensure that you complete all your homework inside and outside of school. By listing down the tasks that you need to do, you will be very clear of what you need to complete before the day ends, causing you to be very productive. In addition, it is very beneficial to use a planner because it reminds you of what you should bring home from school and what to bring to school from home. This is because by knowing what assignments are due or the events that will take place the next day, it will decrease the chances of forgetting something, such as your math homework, gym clothing, or even an umbrella. Finally, you should use and write in a daily agenda because it gives you a peace of mind. By organizing your thoughts visually, confidence will build up in you since you are sure that you are prepared for the day to come. I think we should complete our planner at the end of a day because if your parents ask so do you have any homework and you don’t remember you can always check your planner. You also should write in your planner because if there is something very important that the teacher wants to let your parents know about it you can open up your planner and show your parents. FEEDBACK: There are a few grammar mistakes. "Well then that" should have a comma after "well". Remember that we normally don't start sentences with "and", so you can delete it and just put "also" as a transition word.

If you ever have math homework like me, you could always check your planner to double check the pages and how many questions you have to do and correct. Make sure to have tidy writing and have it organized if you have sections. What's the point if you write in your planner in a messy way when you can't read it at home? So I'd suggest to always keep it tidy and arranged. You should always have your planner in your bag and have it taken home to initial by your parents. At the end of the day you did not write your planer when you get home you will fell like you for got something but you just can’t remember so forget about it the next day you had an test and you did not study because you forgot a about it and you failed the test and at the end of the day today you. FEEDBACK: Remember to put periods and commas in some parts of the sentence, to know where they end. Since in a few parts of your sentences, they keep going in one go without actually stopping. Another thing is that, make sure to check for grammar errors, like in this sentence, “decided to take your PLANER out” make sure to put double N’s, so it’ll be changed to PLANNER, instead of a singular, make sure to change that in the first and 4th sentences. Is it that important to write in your planner everyday? Well, yes and here's why. First you might have forgotten you have homework due the next day, and because you didn't write that in your planner so you wouldn't have anything to remind you about your homework that is due. Second, if you need to get your planner signed by your parents and they see that you have wrote in your planner they would know what you are doing in school and what you have for homework. This is why you should write in your planner everyday.

If not, let me give you some reasons on why planners are so important for everyone to use. When you write an assignment down in your planner, you will likely remember about it more naturally because your brain should make a mental list on what you wrote. If you do happen to forget, then looking at your planner will tell you immediately which assignment you have to finish. Usually when I get home from school on days when I have quite a bit of homework, I can remember the work I listed in my planner and then I can finish it. Furthermore, writing in your planner also helps you know exactly what assignments need to be completed. It can also ensure that you finish all the necessary work efficiently because you know what to work on and use time wisely. A likely scenario is someone being frustrated because they forgot the math pages they had for homework that day. Fortunately, if the person remembered to write in their planner at the end of school, then they could have checked what they wrote as the required pages. Lastly, by using a planner, parents and teachers can check to see if you're completing your assigned work everyday. They can see whether a student is writing in their planner daily and therefore, finishing their work. As you can now see, there are many benefits to using a planner daily. Writing in your planner is such a simple action everyone can do to improve in school.

vIn your everyday planner, any planner, what is the main thing you expect in it? Well for starters, you would expect organization, it is the main reason we have them. Planners keep our life organized, sure, you can live without them, but I highly recommend using one, especially for students. Planners help you journal your priorities and itineraries. By doing this, it will be more organized to know what you're doing, why you are doing it, and when you're doing it. Without a planner, arranging what you might want to do for an activity might be more difficult than you thought. With planners, you don't have to remember what assignments you must do. You will just simply write it down in your planner, easy enough. Other than organization, planners help you mentally. Planners have been proved to reduce stress by organizing your life. Planners help students prepare for future priorities and tasks, so they won't have to stress about it at the last minute. When having a planner, you must stay true to your word. When needed, do any importance that requires to be accomplished that has been written down by your planner. The benefit of a planner enacts students focus and impacts their sight of proper organization. I thoroughly recommend it for students that don’t have it, it really helps with the arrangement of tasks, activities, or assignments.

Planners are helpful because it helps you remember things. From my opinion I think planners are dumb in elementary because we have like no work and it’s really easy to remember what I have to do. But I do get that in high school and later in life I will be needing a planner a lot more because I will not be able to remember things cause I will have lots of work. But other then that I think it’s stupid just because I’m lazy and I don’t want to write if I can all ready remember. That’s my opinion on planners.

There are many reasons to write your planner everyday. First, when you get home and you take out your lunch box and other stuffs you will find your planner in your backpack and it reminds you to do your homework. So what if everything is on the website, you might check it but not actually do stuff. Secondly, when you use the planner you would want your parents to sign it. They will only sign it if you actually do your work. They would want to check with you to see if you did your work. Which makes you finish your homework in time. Last but not least, it just feels so nice after you finishes all of your homework and gets it signed. You feel good about yourself, you get good grades for finishing work, and also you have the same amount of work next day because you finished today's. You don't have extra work. These are a few points I think why planners are important.

There must be times where you go home but forget to bring your homework with you. That is probably why you should remember to record the homework in your planner before you leave school. We must practice it now so that when we move up to high school or university with a lot more work, we can still organize our planners and not forget anything. But what other reasons should you write your planner? For me, writing down my planner gives me a preview of what to expect the next day and what you are going to do. It reminds you of the tasks you need to do the next day so you can prepare for them. But most importantly, it develops a sense of responsibility. A sense of responsibility is essential, you need to organize your homework. To be responsible means you plan everything out like having a schedule. You can also plan out what to do first and what to do last by doing the most important assignments first so you can get all of it done before the due date. But when do you know it's the due date? By writing your planner you will know the exact due date of every assignment. In conclusion, the three reasons you should write in your planner is so that you can be responsible, make sure you get your work finished on time, and insure you don't forget about anything. As We grew older we should start learning how to plan what to do. We are now starting to learn disability by writing out our planners after school. There are a few points that planning is very important, first of all it can tell you what you are supposed to do. Secondly you won't forget what is your homework because you wrote it down. Your parents can also know what are you supposed to do when you come back from school. Maybe you don't care know but when you are grown up you will thank Mr. Hong for the planning skills.

Why do you need to write your planner message?
You can keep on track. It can help you to remember something in case you forgot. Today, I wrote my planner message because sometimes we have assignments and i usually forgo. So sometimes i take a picture if I'm rushing. And if i have time i usually write it. It depends if I'm rushing or not. i'm so thankful to have planner because it can help me to remember something if I forgot something or I'm not really sure what to do for homework or what page should we do. What page should i finish. If I'm not sure what to do i usually look in the planner! I recommend you to write your planner so you don't get behind. And also about 70% of students forgot their homework's. Well I'm one of them. You forgot to do your homework and you have no clue what to do. Sometimes you're on the way to school then you completely forgot that you have one. I'll be honest i almost forgot to do my PAR and thanks for planner it remind me i have PAR today. So write down your planner so you don't get behind.

In all honesty, I don't write down my tasks all the time, though I do have my reasons to why it would be better if it was done. Organization is exceptionally essential, so by writing your following tasks down in your planner, it would most likely increase your chance of getting things done faster, but how? Good question, being in an organized state can help you save time, and it also allows you to follow what is needed to be done. For example, writing down your tasks in your planner beforehand can help you when you don't know what to do for homework, and you could also check off the things you have done. However, if you're someone who likes to go above and beyond, you could even make up your own schedule! This would be so handy with time management, which is key part in anything, so if you do have troubles with the amount of time being put into your work, just take a look at your daily schedule to ensure an organized and focused work time. These few examples that I pointed out definitely aren't the only benefits with completing your planner, and even if this may be optional, (along with the fact that I don't do it all the time either), it could still be something that can be kept in mind of.

Self-assessment - I shouldn't jump to conclusions as often, (submit my work when its not completely revised), because I made mistakes that seemed so dumb they almost wouldn't count as mistakes.

In all honesty, I don't write down my tasks all the time, though I do have my reasons to why it would be better if it was done. What I changed - "...but there is actually a great significance to that." I changed the word "that", to "it". I also added an "a", to the sentence, "this would be so handy with time management, which is key part in anything.." Along with the extra "a", I added a "pretty much", so that the "anything", part was more clear.

Writing down notes on your planner is very important, because you might forget something important if you don't. Another reason why writing in your planner will help you is when a test is coming you can see how many days left you can study to get better grades. Lastly, there might some secpical events, such as, Soar Fun Day. If you forgot to write in your planner, you have a Soar Fun Day, you will misss out a lot, becuase our class might have sepical events that require to bring something from your home, that is why it is best to write in your planner. Overall, I think planners are really important, I havn't written in my planner for a few days and I think that I will start today, Soar Fun Day is also coming up, so I won't miss out a lot.

If you don’t write anything in your planner at school, you risk forgetting important messages that your teacher gives you. For example, I didn’t bring my planner to school on Friday, so I forgot to do math homework over the weekend. So remember, writing in your planner each day keeps the bad grades away!
