Landfill Harmonic, traveling all the way from Paraguay, put on a great show with instruments made form recycled materials. It was amazing to see what can be made out of unwanted materials. In the afternoon students time going through their digital portfolios to great summaries of their leaning in the different subject areas. This information will be used to put together the final summative reprot card for the year.

If you post something that is negative and could affect others negatively, it is probably best not to say it.

The Landfill Harmonic's message was that everyone can play instruments no matter how poor. The main idea was to get out of poverty, get money, and show other people they could do the same.

At the landfill harmonic concert one of their messages were music is something that brings us together like a bridge connecting us and that it shows you how good life is. Also another message they didn’t say was that don’t let anything stop you from doing something you want to do like playing and instrument because the reason they used instruments they were made out of garbage was because they couldn’t afford to get a real instrument but overall the garbage instruments were still good and it didn’t cost money.

Music is everywhere and in everyone. The big idea I think Landfill Harmonic was trying to get across is that anyone can play music. Music is as simple as just clapping your hands. Another thing I think they are trying to tell is to not let poverty control how you live your life. Music isn't just for the wealthy. it's for everyone. Like they said during the performance, "Music is a universal language". What I think they meant by this is that even if you speak a different language, look different, eat different foods or live a different life style there is one thing that connects us all and that's music.

So basically the big idea of the show was to show that everyone could learn an instrument no matter how poor they are. Anything you find could be made as an instrument and anything you find in the garbage can be put together and make something really unique! Also another big idea is to never give up because if they never had made the instruments and didn't have enough money to buy any, then they wouldn't be able to do something they want to do.

Music is a simple concept, yet some people go great lengths to create it. When you live in a community of poverty, you have to get creative. Landfill Harmonic is a great example of how music is an universal language. You don't need specific instruments to speak it. You can make music with anything, your voice, kitchen utensils, and as Landfill Harmonic has proven to us, even "garbage"! I think this has a really strong message that says you don't need much to do what you love as long as you try hard and don't give up. If you keep trying, one day you will achieve your goal, and it's just a matter of time.

Mrs. Chang informed us that we will listen to landfill harmonic. At first i thought that since it was made out of landfill, but actually it sounded really good. Most of them were on tune. I think the message they were trying to deliver is anything is possible as long as your have creativity and handicraft skills you can make anything. The whole world is open to you.

How many times have you heard music and unknowingly started moving your foot to the beat? Probably more than a few times. This shows how much of an effect music can have on us. It can make us much happier. For the Landfill Harmonic, music was their escape from all of the sadness and poverty around them. Creating the instruments was their way of being happy. I think that the Landfill Harmonic has a few important messages to share with the world. I think that the first message is to always appreciate what you have and make the best of it. For them, what they had was a lot of garbage which they turned into amazing instruments for everyone to appreciate. They made the best of having garbage all around them. I think that another message is that practically anything, even garbage, can be turned into something really special! I mean seriously, who would've thought that you could make an instrument out of garbage? Finally, I think that another message that they wanted to get across was that no matter where you live, what language you speak, or how poor you are, you can make music. All in all, I think that we should all never take what we have for granted.

Garbage is not useless if you get creative. A lot of times people look at things like everyone else. But if you are creative, you can find the value of something that people think it's useless. Landfill harmonics prove that they can make all music instruments from something that people throw away and make beautiful music. They turn something that people hate and change it to something (music) that people love. I think we just have to look at things from different angles.

Sometimes we don’t appreciate the fact that we have opportunities and things that other people don’t have. For example, education, a home, and family, and way more. But unlike those things, music is available to anyone. As long as you have passion, you can play/make music anywhere with basically anything. You shouldn’t lose hope no matter how impossible the task seems. That’s what I think the message was from the Landfill Harmonic. Landfill Harmonic played songs with instruments which were all completely made out from trash. But some instruments (like the drum), didn’t seem like it was made out of garbage. It actually seemed legit. You can tell from that, that the person/people who made the instruments have a passion for music. I wonder how long it took for the person/people to make it. It must’ve took a long time. If that was me, I would've gave up in the beginning. Finding the right parts, constructing it, learning how to play, is really hard for me, but Landfill Harmonic did a great job completing those things. They showed a very meaningful message that I believe everyone should hear.

The best thing about music, is that it’s a language that doesn’t have to be translated. Even if you don’t understand the lyrics of a song, you can still understand the emotion that’s put into them. I think what the concert was trying to teach us today, was how music has the power to connect us all. Landfill Harmonic might not have proper instruments, and they might not speak a language that I understand, but I still found the music they played very enjoyable. And I think that anyone who enjoys listening to music, or playing music can feel very connected with them. Overall I thought the concert today was very inspirational, and I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing them play again.

If you take a look at garbage, what do you find? You may just see scraps of metal and wood, but what the musicians see is an opportunity. Their violins and instruments aren’t the most pretty, but work just as well as polished ones. Music has the power to pull everybody together. No matter the language, or the culture. And the musicians from Paraguay came here to show us that with their unique companions. We shouldn’t judge something by how it looks. Sometimes, it could be just as strong and powerful. Using my background knowledge, I think of Kpop. (Obviously, knowing me) it seems weird how people say “why do you listen to their music when you don’t understand?” First of all, do I have to? Second of all, there are lyric videos everywhere. All Kpop fans are tired of this question. “Why are you listening to those Chinese boys?” Or “They aren’t even that good. They don’t deserve to beat Justin Beiber.” I believe that this is all discrimination since we aren’t from the same culture. But music has a power to connect. We don’t think much about the other things, other than how much effort they put into each song and dance. And the millions and millions of us all appreciate the hard work. Every single piece of music is a masterpiece, and we should all learn to accept it. From a different instrument to a different culture.

Ever thought of making instruments out of garbage? Well today there was a presentation at our school called landfill harmonic. They cant really afford violins, drums, guitars and so on because there a poor contry. So they thought of creating instruments out of garbage. I think this is a good idea because kids can enjoy playing songs and actually doing something with there live because people do drugs because they have nothing better to do in life. I think the main message of this was that you can use your creativity and make something that you can enjoy in life and that you can share with the world so they can enjoy it aswell. Sometimes we cant afford things in life but we dont have to spend any money on creativity because were born with it and its a tallent that we all have.

It is actually a really good way to do it because they actually didn’t waste anything and I think they also learn that sometimes not only money can do everything for us. If you actually really try to use recycled material to make instruments, I think all of us should enjoy it a lot because there are different way to make things that we like. I also think we will learn from it that sometimes we should not always waste things and we should always help the environment, always think is it really important to you before you buy stuff.money is really important and we can buy everything with money. Sometimes when you just don’t want it, you will just throw it away. I think it is just really not a good way to just throw it away because you are just keep wasting things, that makes the environment bad too! Landfill Harmonic is a mini orcestra where all the instruments are handmade out of garbage. They want all children, no matter how poor, to learn music and have a chance to find something they love, or to be a part of something. It can help these children feel better about themselves, therefor helping many avoid drugs, be more successfull, even break poverty cycles and help others. Overall, the goal of Landfill Harmonic is to help give children a better future.

Music is what connect us together. Landfill Harmonic is an orchestra with instrument made out of garbage. Yes you heard me right, garbage we throw away, made into different instruments, and actually work like a expensive instrument! I think the big idea in the video is that creativity is what makes everything you that you think you can't do happen. Landfill Harmonic didn't spend hundred and thousands on the instruments. Instead they found another way that's more creative and didn't go over the budget. Also they made absolute amazing music out of it.

We all hear music almost everyday, from the lone busker at the skytrain station, to listening to it on our phones, to playing it ourselves. In fact, we hear music so much that we don’t really notice or pay attention to it anymore. We forget about how many people in poverty don’t have music. When Landfill Harmonic came today, they showed us how they were making musical instruments out of garbage. They also brought our attention to the people who don’t know anything about music. Landfill Harmonic left a couple of important messages with us today. Although they didn’t specifically say the messages, we inferred about what they wanted to tell us. I think that the first message is that we should never give up on our dreams. If we continue working towards them, we will eventually reach our goals. We just need to continue trying. The other message that music can be played anywhere. We can use cutlery, pots, pans, garbage, ourselves, or our voices. As long as there is someone to set us on the right path through the forest, we can find our way out into the sunshine again. This means that if we have someone to guide us or introduce us to something, we can put our own personal spin on it and add things to it. Overall, I think that we should always try to reach our goals even if they seem impossible. Everything is possible if we put our minds to it.

Landfill Harmonic is an orchestra with all their instruments made out of garbage. To be honest when I first saw the instruments, I honestly didn’t really think would sound so similar to the ones we play. But after I heard them play, I was very shocked. I got to admit it was pretty cool. You see, we don’t always have to use words to communicate with others. Music is one of them. We can understand each other through music, whether we are sad, happy, mad, excited, etc. When we say music, we would most likely think of these expensive instruments playing with some lyrics to go with it. Well, did you know you can make instruments made out of garbage? I know, it’s pretty surprising. This is why I really liked this performance performed by the Landfill Harmonic. I think it was very inspirational because, for example, these people in this orchestra. They came from a not healthy and rich country, so they couldn’t afford to buy these expensive instruments. But they didn’t give up and instead, they made instruments out garbage. Be creative, sometimes you have to take risks to make something happen. Music is very powerful. It’s amazing what music can do to help bring our community together.

Music is something that no one can take away from you. This is something that landfill harmony showcased greatly in their performance. Music is a universal language that binds everyone together because everyone loves it. And even if you don't have enough money for an instrument or you simply can't play one, that doesn't have to stop you. You could simply creat music by clapping your hand or singing. Another thing that I think the Landfill Harmony conveyed is that even if you don't have the riches of the world at your finger tips, you can still achieve greatness if you work hard enough and love what you're doing. The Landfill Harmony are living in poverty and they don't let that stop them from doing that they love and makes them happy.
