LONG DIVISION OVER THE LONG WEEKEND

5Unfortunately, Fun Day and the Terry Fox Run were both postponed until a later date. Hopefully we will have some nicer weather next week!

Parents, please note that videos are posted often so students can review how to complete their homework if they have trouble working it.

IMPORTANT: There is no school for students on Monday. It is a professional development day for teachers.

1.) MATH 6/7:

Complete math booklets.
Watch this video on dividing by one digit numbers (long division) to review how to do it.
Watch this video on how to divid by 2 digit numbers.
Review on Tuesday.
Quiz on Wednesday

2.) LA:

Complete any unfinished worksheets.
Quiz on Tuesday (Commas, quotations, nouns, possessives, etc)

3.) FORMS: Return all forms! Social media, Gmail, walk about, etc. Remember, one of them is two-sided.

4.) GMAIL AND ANIMOTO:

This will be explained in tomorrow's post. Don't worry about it over the weekend

5.) POST A RESPONSE:

If you haven't completed any posts this week, make sure you go back and complete them. Also, if you haven't revised your posts from this past week, do that as well.
Watch any one of the long division videos posted below.
In your own words and in paragraph form, write a paragraph explaining how to complete a long division questions. You MUST use one of the examples from your homework booklet as your example when explaining it in your paragraph.
Don't forget to be as clear as possible so your classmates understand what you are saying.
Read the other posts and give 2 students some constructive feedback on what they can improve on. Ask yourself, does it make sense?
Re-read your response and EDIT/REVISE if necessary.

If you are having problems with long division you came to the right person.Step 1 Say you're stuck on 3 divided by 546 the first thing you are supposed to do is to see how many times does 3 go into 5 and the answer is 1. Step 2 & 3 next you put the 1 first and then you do this 1 times 3 (1x3=3). step 4 & 5 then you put the 3 under the 5 and subtract (5-3=2) and since 3 does not go in 2 you bring down the 4 from 546 down to the 2 that is below the 3 that = 24. Time for step 6 & 7 now you see how many times does 24 go into into 3 the answer is 8 then you put the 8 beside the 1 then you times 3 with 8 (3x8= 24). Now step 8 & 9 after you put the 24 under the other 24 then you subtract ( 24-24=0). Now step 10 & 11 after 24 subtract 24 ( 24-24 ) you put the 0 below the 2 of 24 and bring the 6 down from 546 that is beside 0. Time for the four final steps, steps 12,13,14, & 15 now you see how many times does 3 go into 6 and the answer is 2 and you put the 2 beside the 1 & the 8 that = 186 then you times 3 and 2 ( 3x2=6 ) then you put the 6 under the other 6 that is at the bottom and subtract ( 6-6=0 ) and that is your answer 182 I hope this helps.

How to do long division
First: You would grab the number to the left of the line that got separated from the right side number. Say that number is 6.
Second: You look at the last digit number of the right side. Say that is 4.
Third: The number 6 would not be able to fit into 4 so you would get the closest number to its right side. Say that is 8.
Fourth: You now need to see how many 6's is can fit in (48). The answer is 8. So you look at the number (8) and write above it 8.
Fifth: You write 48 under dat 48 then draw a line under dat new 48 and write 0 because their is no remainder.
Sixth: If the number was 49 then you would write 48 under dat 49 and draw a line. Same principal their but then you write a 1 because 49-48=1.

@ Logan - Pause it after he explains parts of it. Rewind if necessary. You will need to watch it quite a few times so you can explain it. You can also explain how to do it based on what I taught you in class too.

If the question is 3+258.You can't put 3 into 2 so you you have to do 3×25.the u have to bring down the 5 and do subtraction the u got u r answer

So long divison easy in so many ways so lets show you how to do it!
Lets say the questions 3 divided by 546.
1. 3 Can go into 5 one time so you write 1 on top of the line and do 3 - 5 = 2 move down 2
2. Move down 4 and the number turns to 24 so we goes into 24 8 times so we write 8 on top and we do 24 - 24 = 0
Move down the 6 and we have 2 times so move 2 on top and do 6-6 = 0
=O
and my cup just fell in real life :/
The answer is 182 and you just solved it

I will now explain more deeply how to do divison since I did not really explain.
Still same question 3 divided by 546
3 can go into 5 one time so we put the one on top of the 5 and subtract 3 from 5 leaving us 2.
Move the 3 down and now we have 24.
3 can go into 24 8 times so we put 8 on top like the 1 and we are left with 24 - 24 = 0.
now we move down the 6 and 3 goes into 6 2 times so move the 6 on top and do 6- 6 = 0
ok the answer was 182!!!
hope this actually helps people solve stuff.

2:If it doesn't then the quotient (the answer) is zero for the first number.
3:Then u move on to two numbers of the dividend then start number one again (check if the divisor fits in to the dividend and how many times)
4:Then let's say it fits in 2 times the second number for the quotient is two so the quotient should be 02.
5:Now you want to multiply the last number in the quotient with the divisor so 2 times 5 is 10 so u write ten.
6:Then you subtract the dividend by ten.
7:Now you bring down the next number if there is one the repeat the whole 7 step again.

1. How many times does the divisor fit in the dividend?
2. Put the number of times the divisor fitted in the dividend on the top of the dividend, that's called a quotient.
3. Times the quotient and the divisor togheter and write it under the dividend, subtract the dividend and the number together. After you subtract the numbers together, bring one number down and pretend it was there the whole time.
4. How many times can the divisor fit into that number? Repeat this until you got 0 remaining

How to do division. One digit by one digit.
Example. 3÷4
Firstly. Take the number on the left which is (3) and see how many times it would fit into (4). ( what is the answer)A.(1)
2) Then times (3) and (1) ( what is the answer ) A. (3) then subtract (3) and (3)( what is the answer ) A. (0)
3) Once again how many times does(3) fit into (0). None so then it would be (0) so put zero on the top of the rest of the numbers and some track zer so put zero on the top of the rest of the numbers and subtract (0) and (0) which would be (0) then your answer will be (11)

multiply the divisor and the divedend. Then you get a number after you get that number you place under the divedend. Subtract the two numbers. What ever you got put it over the divedend and then that's your answer

For long division if your doing 3 divided by 564 you would be dividing the 3 and the 5 first
1)3 goes into 5 by 1 times and then subtract it then it becomes 2
2)bring down the 6 beside the the number 2
3)then times 3 into 26 and it is 8 which is the closest
4)then subtract 26 and 24 and you get 2
5)then you bring down the 4
6)then you times 3 with 8
7)then you subtract 24 and 24 and it is 0
so your answer is 188

So u want to do long division well take theses steps
1) your doing 1divied by 234 so first you do is say to your self "how much dose 1 fit in to 2
2) ones you find out that you do 1x2=2 so then you subtract 2-2 witch is 0

3) you bring down the 3 so now you do how much dose 1 fit in to 3 now you just repeat the 2nd step over
4) you do the last number which is 4 and you do how much dose 1 fit in to 4 ones you do that your done :D

If you need help on long division, will this is how you do it.Let's say the question is 3÷432,step #1 find out how many times does 3 go into 4,which is 1.Then you subtract 4 with the number ×3 .(which is 3)After you did that ,write down the subtraction answer,then bring down the next number.Which in this case 4-3=1then if you bring down the next number 3 .Keep doing this till you can't bring down a number.The number that tells you how much times does the divisor go into the dividend.The answer is called a quotient.

How to do long division

Lets use the number 6 and 366.

First,you need to get the number 6 and divide it with the number 36.

Second,once you get the answer,you need to subtract it with the number 36.

Third,when you get the answer,it goes to the number zero,right? When you subtract it and ended up with a different number then its wrong.But there is still the number 6 from the number 366.You only subtracted 36,not 366.

Fourth,So you bring down the number six and you have to divide the number six that you bring down and the number other number six that you used to divide and multiply the other numbers.And BOOM! theres the answer!

After that,it should look like this:

~How To Do Long Division~

Let's use 5 and 225.

You need the divisor 5 to divide number 22.

The qoutient is number 4.

Now, you need to multiply number 4 and number 5.

Once you get the answer, put it under number 22.

Then subract.

The answer is 2 and you can't divide it with number 5 since it's smaller.

So, you need to let Mr. Number 5 to come down to help number 2.

Now, is the time to divide divisor 5 to number 25.

When you got the answer, multiply it with divisor 5.

Finally, put the answer below number 25.

1) Identify the dividend and the divisor: 138÷6
2) Divide the first digit of the dividend (1) by the divisor (6), and write the whole number answer above the line
1 ÷ 6 = 0.
