You will have access to your evaluations on FreshGrade once everyone has returned their forms. Mr. Bains and I evaluated your tests and you will find out how you did tomorrow. You will take your tests home to have signed by your parents. We were very pleased to see how all of you did! Well done everyone! You achieved the learning intentions!

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Today, Mr. Bains spoke to everyone about kindness. We should always be kind to one another. You might not be best friends with someone, but you are certainly capable of being polite and respectful.

LEARNING INTENTION: I can use my comprehension strategies to find the big idea of the posted video.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) Paragraph format - hook, body/supporting sentences, and conclusion.
2.) Supporting sentences must include 2 examples from the posted video.
3.) You must explain why it is important to be kind. This must be related to the 2 examples you mention in your supporting sentences. For example: It is important to be kind to my classmates because we will be learning together all year. Mr. Bains explained that even if we aren't best friends, we must learn to work with one another.
4.) Pay attention to the givens/conventions of writing (spelling, capitals, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure).
5.) Give one student descriptive feedback and let them know if they missed anything in their paragraph based on the above criteria.
6.) Edit/revise your paragraph based on the peer-feedback or a self-assessment.

My thoughts on what the big idea is, are that the main things are involved around helping others and inspiring others when you were helped in some sort of way such as: being helped up when you fall and helping someone who is poor. Basically its a chain of kindness and being influenced by others when you were helped by another person.

I think that the big idea if this video is that it only takes one person to spread kindness. For example, in the video, when the first guy in the video helped the kid up from the skateboard. He started doing kind things to others that he might not have done if the guy didn’t help him up since it probably changed his mood. Then, the kid helped an old woman carry groceries and that woman did other things and so on. I think that it is important to be kind to my classmates because we are going to be with them the whole year and also, it is good to S.O.A.R. because it just makes people happier and makes them feel better. And maybe then they’ll do nice things to you and you’ll benefit from being nice to them. But that’s not why we do it. Its because it only takes one person to make everyone be kind.

Ps. But sometimes people are naturally cruel and you can’t do anything. lol

I think the big idea or point of the video is that, The first person in the video helped some kid up on his skateboard. If the guy didn't help the kid up, the kid wouldn't have helped other people then those other people wouldn't have helped others and so on. And someday that kindness would go back at you.

I think the Big Idea of this video is that when only 1 person is kind to someone, it gets passed on and a lot of people are kind to each other, as the worker helped the skateboarder and the skateboarder helps the old woman and so on. Eventually, the kindness wave might even come back to the person who started it, as shown when the construction worker was given a glass of water by the waitress. If people were only a little kinder to each other, then the world would be a lot nicer because others pass it on, and it spreads and goes everywhere.

Kindness brings people together in a community, workplace, or home. Being kind to someone is just as rewarding as receiving it. Affection, friendliness, warmth, caring, and gentleness are all defined as being kind. Kindness can be used in many ways. For example, maybe if someone was struggling to carry bags or luggages, help him/her out by carrying a bag too! Someone could have tripped and fell, instead of walking past and ignoring, try helping that person up and ask if he/she is okay. This could seem like very basic information that we might already know, but by doing this can improve health and relieve stress. Rather it’s a small or big act. Kindness helps both mental and physiological health and can boost our immune system. If you’ve made it to the end of this paragraph, make sure to spread the word and do something kind to someone else! Either it’s a family member or a friend or even a stranger. I would like to be kind to one another and treat people the way I would like to be treated, I hope you can do the same too!

Be Kind to Others, a video published on December 26, 2014, the video was different people offering help and feeling grateful for each other. Though, I think the meaning is much more than just that. I think the big idea was of course, being kind to each other and help each other out but it may also include that we need to help each other out or the world is doom. As you hear is the song at 1:19, the lyrics are: it’s not about win or lose, we all lose when they feed on the souls of the innocent (I found this lyric video on YouTube since I couldn’t hear the lyrics well enough nor find the lyrics on Google). It shows that we are all in this together and that fighting our own side doesn’t make us win. As we seen, climate change has taken a strike and if Greta is the only one to change her and her family’s lifestyle to prevent the doom of our earth, we’d be/are dead. When you do nice gestures to people, there’s bound to be someone that looks at you weirdly and thinks the worst out of it, but the 0.1% of people that repay with gratefulness is what makes things all worth it. Like the construction worker, he helped that boy when he fell and, in the end, he was payed with kindness (doing nice things are not about getting it in return though, you just do it because you want to). Although, I do not think that that is the only big idea since there are many possibilities like getting help encourages you, but in all, kindness can make a huge impact on people.

A true smile isn't one that you just believe that you need to put on your face when meeting someone new, it's not an act, it's a joy. It should lead you to many, it's a happiness that not everyone can obtain, and at most, it can sometimes feel difficult. But if you have faith in yourself, if you push yourself, know that it's not all darkness, there is a light that will spring, it's just waiting for you. It's not about time, it's about you, and everyone else. Watching this video, you can see how one mood can change others, if just one person can smile and share that joy with everyone. This one person won't be sad for giving it away, they should be proud, filled with pride, it will give them the feeling of giving and sharing. They don't even have to be happy, like the constructor at the beginning of the video, but just one act of kindness can change thousands of mindsets. An anger that's been hidden away inside of you, it can be healed. It's okay to be mad, but know that you won't be forever, there will be a time where a spark will reach you, you just need to learn to accept it.

By the way, I have watched this video in my old school, we also sang this song for our production. Our class was so sentimental and emotional, a lot of us cried watching this video and during our graduation, we've learned a lot of lessons being with each other. We may fight, and we may not be easily forgiving, but we strive to create a happy mindset and a joyful world.

I am going to tell you guys about the video that I watched. There was an old lady giving a coin to a person who was having trouble with finding it in her bag and the person who was helped with something helped an another person of whatever having trouble with. From the video, I think it is important to be kind because it can make you feel good and the greater good will come to you if you do something that makes a person feel better. From my perspective, I think that the author is trying to say that be kind to others. I hope you guys have a different answer!

What is it important to be kind? I am going to give you examples and why it is important to be kind. First, when a person is holding a lot of bags, you can help them hold their bags for them. This really helps especially for elderly people. I helps them to go faster. Secondly, when someone drops something and they don't notice, you can pick it up and give it to them. If that person dropped an important thing, they will be relieved and thank you but even if it wasn't an important thing, they'll thank you and you will be happy that you helped someone. In conclusion, being kind is a great way to help others and a way to you to be happy!

I really enjoyed the quote and when I found out par was about kindness, that quote really reflects on that topic. Though there isn't kindness everywhere small things can encourage others to do the same. Just like the video we just saw, it started with a boy falling of his skateboard. Most people would just ignore him but a man walked up to him and got him up and asked if he was okay. What the man did encouraged the boy to do something nice. So he did, he helped a grandma with her groceries. The grandma helped another person and the other person helped another. If we can all do this, our world and people living in it can change there opinion and actually help out. Not just people but maybe things around us like climate change and the ecosystem!

spread the kindness! being kind is important, its a way to spread positive energy. As shown in the video people are being nice and that inspires others, same would apply if people where mean, but here is the difference, us people don't like to think negatively. If we where to instead all be nice this positive this positive energy would be everywhere. kindness spreads like a disease! A good disease, more specifically a disease of kindness.

You pushed my thinking. A few things come to my mind. What did their body language say? Also, do you think the people doing the acts of kindness are doing it in order to receive a 'THANK YOU' or simply doing it for no reason? I think this would be a great topic of discussion in class. Perhaps we can explore it this week?

Today we changed seats. Everyone wanted to sit with their friends, but not many people sat with their friends. Mr. Bains told us that regardless of whether he sat with his good friends or not, he still had to work together and study together. After hearing this sentence, I tried to borrow a pen from Taiki.
The video tells that everyone who was helped go helped others. I think it means that as long as we help others, they and us will both feel happy, and they can pass on the benefits of helping. (opinion 1) Maybe it will be tiring to help others, but every time I help others, I don’t feel tired. Instead I feel very happy. (opinion 2)

One act of kindness can make someone's day. It could also make people do nice things for other people. In this video, we see a construction worker help a boy get up from falling off his skateboard.
Then the boy felt good and helped an lady carry her groceries across the street (this is obviously not during Covid-19). After that, the kindness went around until it came back to the construction worker. So the kindness made people feel like helping others. In the end, the first person to do a kind act, had someone do something nice for him. Sometimes, an act of kindness can make someone sad feel very good for the rest of the day.

“When you are kind to others, it not only changes you. It changes the world.” Kind-heartedness is a universal language. As shown in the video, the act of being kind will be passed on in many shapes and forms. It will vary from helping someone lift something, to feeding a family. Our world has seen its dark days, and there will never be a stationary fix to the bad, but if you are nice now the kind act will be passed forward. Being kind is caring for someone, knowing they might not care for you. So never expect something back, don’t think petty of them and do not boast. Hope you pay it forward.

What's Kindness? Kindness is something that you can do to help someone or if you are walking and you see someone fall and drop something you can be friendly and pick it up. What I thought they were trying to show is that if you help one another it can spread all across the world and be worldwide. So then if it does spread worldwide (like nutella on bread) our world can have more happy people rather than grumpy and mean people. I think what the video showed was for our class to get used to the environment around us and be happy with who you sit with. If you do sit with someone you don't know that can be a plus point for you because then you get to know them better and maybe you can be really great friends. The first time I came to this school was in kindergarten. I was actually very shy but once I got to know everybody in the class i felt more comfortable. All I am trying to say is that one person can change the world just by giving someone a hand.

Kindness is something that you will see In a nice community. I watched a video about some people who were inspired to be kind and helpful by one person. In the video, a kid fell off on his skateboard, and a construction worker helped him get up. This inspired the kid to be kind, so he helped an elderly woman cross a street. The woman helped another person, and the chain went on. It is important to be kind because it would make others feel good, and you might inspire someone to be help someone. Not only that, people would be more friendly which would make a happier community. I have heard of something called the golden rule. The golden rule is to treat others how you want to be treated. The video shows people using golden rule because they treated other people how they wanted to be treated. Some ways that you could be kind is to help someone or donate things that you don’t need anymore. Being kind is an important thing to do if you want to be nice.

Are you a kind person? I hope you are because kindness is one of the most powerful things that you can do to make a person feel better. The first reason kindness is important is that kindness is contagious (in a good way). In the video, it showed that people being kind will affect more than that person because the kindness spred. Second reason that kindness is important is that kindness can help people. Whether they're poor or rich, young or old, big or small, kindness will help you along your way and that people will help you. Just like an act of kindness affects a person's day, what will you do to affect a person's life.

I think the idea of the video was to teach how if you are kind to someone then they will see how they could make others happy too. An act of kindness can go a long way. Kindness was definitely exaggerated in the video shown above. As in real life, it is almost impossible to find a chain similar to the one in the video. I think the idea of the video was more like a message, for example "kindness goes a long way" or something like "spread the kindness". If that type of kindness was in everyday society then the world would probably be in a better state and everyone would be in a nice community. You can show kindness with simple acts; such as wearing a mask, holding a door for someone, offering to help someone, and all of the acts shown in the video. Kindness can be very simple to do, but it can make someone's day. So why not be kind and create a better community for everyone.
