Today, the class started their day with a Photography class, going outside with the iPads taking pictures of everyday items that they feel represent them. We spent a little bit of time on Book Clubs before recess, and then spent the hour from 11 - 12 on a Digital Citizenship workshop learning about how to protect ourselves from different forms of harassment online. After lunch, we continued with graphing lines, and our Social Studies inquiries into religion.

Today a person who was a rap singer went to our school to talk about digital citizenship. He told us many ways to protect you from digital harassment. A thing I will do is that I will turn off location for the photos so Nobody will know where the photos were taken. I also will not post random stuff on like Facebook or Instagram even in a fact I don't use it. (Just in case!) Lastly if I get harassed, I try to stay away from them and if they stalk me I won't post anything to anywhere just so I don't want him showing up at my door. ( like the girl)

The things I understood and learned today are that turning on your location on your device can lure criminals and stalkers in your area. I also learned that I should always be careful and be aware of my surroundings so my family and I won't get robbed by criminals.

When I use social media apps like Instagram and Facebook, I usually avoid turning on the location and mentioning where I live just in case a bad person might track me. Don't share too much personal information on social media because those certain platforms are too dangerous to be giving out confidential things about yourself.

In conclusion, you should always check the social media settings and make sure that your location is off. We must also avoid oversharing and giving out personal and confidential information.

Today we had a lesson on Digital citizenship 3 important things to remember when using social media are any one can view your page. Second any one can find where you took a photo. And third don't post any personal information.

First point, don't post personal information on social media, for example, instagram. Don't post any of it, even if your account is private. people can still see your bio. second, turn off locations so no one knows where your photo was taken. And last, before posting something, ask a few question to yourself. For instance "Am I okay showing this to my parents, teachers, and anyone on this world?" "Will this make me get in trouble?" Am I okay making the post a poster and make a million copy's to put up on school walls?" If all that is a yes, then go ahead and post!

Today, we had a digital citizenship in the gym, surprisely, the speaker used to be a DJ, and he had been working with marshmello before! I think after this lesson, I can protect myself better in Instagram or other online App.

After this lesson, there's three main thing that I had learn today. THe first one is : Privacy. My Instagram account is public, because when tou first get tot eh Instagram, it sets it for you, Instagram want us account to be public. Before this lesson, I think it's ok, becasue there will not be dangerous behind it, and it's not a big deal, becasue no one will search my account. HOwever, it can causes you a lot of dangerous and trouble. For example: if the account is not private, then everyone can see our post, and everyone can use the picture that you had post to search where do you live, very scary righ? So we shouldn't put our account into publix account. The second main idea of this lesson is: don't put personl information in Instagram or anything that's relate to instagram or similar to instagram, for example: if you posted something like "elementary school is almost end", that would make people know that you are in grade 7, or if you write any private information like your birthday or where's your high school, the bad people will find out exactly the same place where you are posting and examctly the same person. THe last thing is: we can report our thinking to a specific website which is totally safe, they will report your thinking to the safe school, and then give it to the principle. some people will think it's chatting, but it's not, it's one way to protect our self with out anyone in your calss knowing what's your problem. Consequently, that the three main thing that I think it's the most i mportant thing.

After the walking to my homeRight after I got home, I delete almost all my post, and change the setting so that other people will not find out where's my location and where do i post this picture.

After this lesson, I summarized that how dangerous is the digital citizenship, and how should we protect ourselves online.

"How did that guy over there find out my information? He lives in Surrey of all places!" This might be something you are thinking if somebody One of the ways that we can be exposed quickly and clearly is by creating social media accounts online. This is a simple way for others to find your personal information, which is something that you, as a person, don't want. So, to stop that, there was a presentation today about keeping yourself aware of what you put up on social media.

First of all, we learned to not make our accounts public and easy to find. For example, on Instagram, there is a function where you can make your account private. It is best to use this as nobody can look at your content that easily. Also, this prevents people from seeing things without you noticing. Another way you could accidentally make yourself public is by putting personal information in your biography. You can put your birthday, age and school in here and immediately, some people would know where you currently are.

Secondly, when you take photos, there is usually something called meta data behind it so people will know private information, like what device the photo was taken by, when it was taken, and the coordinates on a map. We learned how to turn this off in order to make sure that nobody would stalk us later on. This was actually very new to me because I never knew somebody could take so much just from one picture.

Thirdly, I learned that we should always be careful when posting things on social media. To do this, we must ask three questions to ourselves. One question is: Am I okay with showing this to my parents? There are two more questions like this in the same format just to make sure that posting this won't hurt you in any way. After all, even if something is deleted, it isn't really. It can still be found (as mentioned in SnapChat's 50 page terms and agreements). Since they even confirmed it, we now know to be even more cautious when texting and such.

In conclusion, it is hard sometimes to take caution and make sure you don't leave a digital footprint anywhere. There are many different ways that your information could be sent places, but if you know the right techniques, all of that information can be safely sealed and protected. Overall, today's presentation helped us understand many thing that I have never thought of before.

Today, a former DJ came into our school to talk about digital citizenship and privacy. He taught us ways to protect ourselves from the social media world, and I now know how to do that.

1. I will turn off locations in the settings to prevent stalkers from accessing a photo I post and trace it to my exact locations. That's kinda creepy.

2. I will think twice about what I post so I don't end up in trouble. This includes asking someone's permission before posting something about them.

3. Do not EVER post personal information on your bio, because even if your account is private, they can still see it. They can see your birthday if you put it there and even where you go to school. This will then allow stalkers to get an idea of where you live.

In today’s awesome presentation, I obviously learned a lot of stuff which I have never learned before. About safety social media. Hence, I did some research and I definitely checked both of my public and private accounts on Instagram which spent me almost an hour to check it if they're safe. I obviously know a lot of things since I got quite a lot takeaways from the presentation. I understand how social media works for positive news, and also for negative. A lot of people gave negative comments, they could be really inappropriate sometimes. It could affect a lot of people on social media, and also yourself. So, always think before you post anything, because since you think no one knows whoever said that, but you will never know. Furthermore, we should also protect our privacy. That sounds kind of obvious, but it does happen around the world. Stalkers and maybe someone with a really negative mood could literally find your locations ahead when you press the post button on Instagram of your beautiful bedroom. Hence, we should always be mindful of if our privacy is enough and won’t let anonymous people get into you. Turn off the photo location to avoid the picture of your beautiful bedroom got located from other’s computer. Moreover, to make sure our privacy is enough for protection, we can always look at their information on the public to know most of your stuff. Such as name, what grade you are on, age, or even location. So, the thing all should avoid is too put the information you don’t want others to know on social media.

I found today's presentation both intriguing and disturbing. Why is this? I found out that even if you put your account on private, and you do all that other stuff to make your account secure, there will still be those stalkers who can trace you down!

The first takeaway I had from this presentation is that making your account private isn't enough. The first step you can take is turning off you location on the settings app for all of your social media. Yeah, I'm pretty sure you have to search for your location instead of having the app find you, but still! Safety first!

My second takeaway is that whatever you say in a text, tweet, post, whatever. It will always be there, even if it "disappears". It doesn't. So you have to be careful of what you say, do, post, etc. If you aren't careful, your past may catch up with you and haunt you in the future. Or present. So my advice is that you should think before you do anything. Some questions you could ask yourself are, "Am I okay with my family, friends, teacher, and future employers seeing this?" "Would I be okay with this pasted all over the walls of my school?" "Is this going to embarrass or hurt others?" If you answered no to the first two and yes to the last one, then DO NOT POST. If you answered yes for the first two, and no for the last, the go ahead. Post it.

My third and final takeaway is that everything you do online leaves a digital footprint. I mean, this PAR leaves a digital footprint, hopefully a good one. Some things you can do to ensure you leave a clean digital footprint is using common sense. If you want to get a job you have to act appropriately. So start now. I'm not going to post any potentially opportunity ruining things, so you an too! Keep those footprints clean people!

The three thing I learn today
1. Instagram is scary, it contains most of your personal information. Thank god I haven’t have a instagram yet, if I do I don’t know how many personal information of my is outside. Today the way he thought us from doing it is don’t post personal information on social media like instagram. Don't post any of it, even if you thought your account is private. It may still give out a bunch of information.
2. Your photo can lead others to your house. Also thanks to my parents I don’t have to worry about that. But still after today’s lesson it creeps me out. Today the way he thought us from doing it is go to settings and turn off a thing and don’t post anything that you will regents.
3. A wong pose can ruin your life. Again thanks to my parents I don’t have to worry about that. But it is incredible how a tiny little post can help you lose your scholarship, job and money. And of course just don’t post anything you think will get you in trouble.
In conclusion I now know why my parent took so long to let me touch technology, and am thankful to that.

Today, a visitor came to our school to do a presentation with us on Digital Citizenship. Which was focused on learning about how to protect ourselves from different forms of harassment online.

I was pretty shocked while listening to this presentation, I didn’t know how accurate our mobile phones and computers could actually record our digital footprint. It surely did cause our vigilance on the information that we’re giving out to those online apps and social media. Some tips to avoid unnecessary situation could be

1. Never include too specific information in your bio. Such as, our first and last name, age, locations or any other detailed information that you wouldn't want a stranger to know.

2. Be aware of what you’re posting and make sure it’s considered acceptable. Keep in mind that you would never completely delete anything, it is always recorded through some sort of through some of there documents.

3. Make all your accounts private, turn off locations in the settings in case it would bring you in trouble.

In conclusion, these were some of the tips I learned after listening to this wonderful presentation. I’m starting to value this situation more frequently.

The internet can be a very fun place to surf in and useful in many purposes. Though, like most other things, safety is very important. The internet, if not known of the safety precautions, can be sometimes very dangerous, especially for kids like us. Today, a visitor came to do a presentation on digital citizenship. Surprisingly, the talk taught me quite a lot of new things that I should be aware of on the internet. Here are a few easy ways you can be a good digital citizen and protect yourself online.

First, you can use the privacy settings on phones and apps to protect your private information. Remember to turn off location services for camera and change location services accordingly for other apps. You can even change the privacy settings on your apps, like Instagram and Snapchat. For example, you can turn on ghost mode for Snapchat and set your account to private for Instagram.

Second, know that whatever you post, send, tweet, or text online, is not always permanently deleted. Sometimes, these things can be recovered and are still saved in the background. This really requires us to think twice before pressing the "submit" button. Another thing to beware of is to leave a good digital footprint. If something about you can be easily searched and seen, you wouldn't want that to be something bad and embarrassing. This can potentially affect your future career in school and in work. Most importantly, I learnt the power of one single photo. In some cases, a photo that you posted online can possibly reveal your exact location to others. This is because of meta data. Meta data is the "information of the information". It is the part we can't see when taking pictures and sending them.

Lastly, it is important for us to know what to do if we need help. We can use the "erase" program on the provincial website. It allows us to report things anonymously (if we want) and reach for help if needed. If there is a problem on a social media platform, you can contact the staff or simply report it. Just remember that you can always ask parents, teachers, and other adults for help. There are plenty of choices for help if you need any.

In conclusion, this is how to be a good digital citizenship and how to protect yourself online. Use privacy settings, leave a good digital footprint, and find help when needed. Follow these rules and you'll have no problem in this digital playground!

Today the intermediate classes were summoned to the gym for a special presentation discussing digital citizenship. The presenter had talked about many concerning facts about the things we do online, and I was thinking about every presence I had on the internet. I am lucky to not be very active on social media, and I am quite anti-social in large groups, but I still had concerns for my safety so I was listening very closely. After the presentation had ended, three of the topics had resonated within my head, meta-data, user agreement, and the digital footprint.

First, there is meta-data. With every photo taken, there lies a world of coding underneath, deep within these codes lies info about the photo. This info is incredibly detailed as well, it can determine where the photo was taken, when it was taken, what device it was taken on, and much more. We were told how to turn it off, as soon as he said this I had grabbed my phone in the middle of the presentation to deactivate the setting that allows meta-data to be processed. It was hard to find the settings, as use a Lenovo brand Motorola, which means the setting are organized differently than conventional android devices. Once I had deactivated the setting, I was in the clear. If you are one of those people that decide to make their personal lives less personal, then it is a very good idea to make sure this setting is off, as all of us are minors.

Second, there are the user agreement papers. These exist when you are downloading an app or software, and the text "I agree to the terms of service" appears next to a confirmation box. These tend to be very long, and it is very common for people to skip reading it just to get the item of desire. The presenter had displayed a line in the Snap chat user agreement, and it stated a very important fact, that if you try to delete a photo, it might not be deleted. This is a fact many overlook simply because they did not read the 60 page user agreement. Because of this, I will at least consider skimming the user agreement just to see if there are any dangerous requirements.

Lastly, there is your digital footprint. Everyone has a footprint online, the things you have posted, texted, the sites you have visited. This info will remain forever, and it will always be a part of your digital activity. It is important to be aware of the content you release to the public, as there are very strict rules, any misguided photos can lead to horrible consequences. It is very important to think about what you decide to release to the internet, as everything can be used against you. I feel somewhat ok with this one, as I do not have a large presence online, but I will still be much more careful from now on, as I do not wish to be arrested for inappropriate activity.

In conclusion, the internet is a double edged blade. It is a huge convenience to many, and life around us has changed because of it. However, one must use utmost caution, as a large mistake can end in devastating consequences, from an account being deleted, to losing your job, to going to jail, and to losing heavy financial stability. Elon Musk had lost his ownership of his company, and he lost billions of dollars by making a joke tweet online. He was forced to go to court as well, all because he make a joke about weed. It is very important to use the internet safely, and securely, now I'm gonna go lock up my phone to keep the demons from coming out.

wow! I didn't know that the internet was such a dangerous place. i always thought that maybe putting your account on private would protect it from stalkers and dangerous people, but I was wrong. today, we had a presentation on digital citizenship. I learned a few intriguing facts about the internet.

the first thing that I learned, is that with every photo taken, there is metadata. metadata is highly detailed information about when the photo was taken, where the photo was taken, etc. how do you prevent this? well, I also learned that you can go into privacy in settings and turn it off.

the next thing i learned was that Instagram, snap chat, all these social media apps can trace down your EXACT location. i learned that these apps can be quite dangerous if you expose too much information. many stalkers can find out lots of information about you in a few minutes, just by checking your Instagram page. even if you have a private account.

the last thing i learned was that, whatever you post on the internet, can potentially stay on the internet forever. even if you delete it, or thought that you deleted it, the post can potentially still exist. this is for federal departments just in case they need old files but these posts can come back and bite you. for example, you're going out for a new job interview, well they look into your online history and saw that you were posting inappropriate things. even though you're perfectly fitted for the job, they won't accept you.

in conclusion, i really enjoyed today's digital citizenship presentation and i learned lots of new things.

Do you use social media’s?

Yesterday we had a presentation on online safety. It was very helpful to a lot of people in our class, because everyone uses the Internet. He mostly talked about our phones which most of us have. Even though I don’t really have a phone, I still have other devices as well. He showed us that by posting just one location, you could find out where someone lives. The Internet is very dangerous and could cause a lot of trouble. He showed us how to turn off our locations so people couldn’t find our location by a photo. I really enjoyed watching it, and I’m going to be more careful about what I post and do.

Today we had a former Vancouver DJ come to our school and educate us about the online world, and the info that he brought to us was very shocking. And now I know why privacy is so important for social media.

1. First I would take down as much of the private as possible from my Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and any other kind of social media, and I will use my accounts less and remove more photos and pictures, so that stalker can't find out where I am or where I live. It's very creepy.

2. I will turn off my location services other than the ones that truly need it, such as google maps or any other type of app that actually requires your location.

3. A single miss understanding on social media could cause outrage, protests or much more provoked actions from posts on social media. Glad I don't have any kind of social media other than Facebook, and Facebook messenger.

The internet was invented in 1973 and revolutionized the world. Social media soon followed after, but so did criminals called hackers who used the internet to their advantage. Yesterday’s presentation by Dustin Hogan was about how to be safe.

One way you can stay safe is turning of location services on you mobile devices. First, go to settings, then find location services and turn it off. This is for Apple products because I only use Apple.

Secondly, never post your private information such as your name, age, and school on social media accounts because that is exactly what online stalkers and cyber bullies need to know. Also don’t send really random things or inappropriate photos. Think about would you teacher or your parents, want to see this. You shouldn’t tag anything because stalkers also use tags to track you online.

Finally don’t let anyone send photos of or tag you without your permission, and if you feel unsafe online, report the users who make you feel uncomfortable and block then. Only follow people you know, and for Snapchat users, turn on ghost mode so any unwanted followers can’t see your location.

In conclusion, staying safe online is a big deal, and think twice about doing anything online. Remember, safety first!
