Monday: Flying Penguins?

Today, we learned that reliable news agencies can also create false news stories. We watched the video link of the flying penguins and everyone in the class assumed it was real because it was produced by the BBC news agency. Indeed it appeared as if it was legitimate, however, upon closer investigation and research, we were able to figure out that it was an April Fool's Day hoax from a few years ago. The collaboration and research you completed with your groups on your Google Docs was very well done and you listed reliable research that clearly indicated the video was a hoax. Well done everyone!

According to Global News, E coli has been a very popular infection lately. To be exact, almost 63,000 North Americans get E coli each year alone. Just the other month, beef was recalled from a company called "XL foods." In my opinion, I think that if people were more aware, the rates wouldn't be as high as they are now. Also, it seems like people don't even care. When I went grocery shopping a while back, there were many people buying beef like there wasn't even an E coli warning. Although, this isn't the first time there was an E coli warning on food. Many different types of food can be can be contaminated with E coli from different causes. To finish off this paragraph, I wanted to mention hat E coli actually was. E coli is basically like an infection in your stomach. Some even say it links to other infections/diseases.

According to Uganda Wild Life Authority and World Wild Life Fund, the Mountain Gorilla Population has gone up in the past 2 years, from 786-880. The reason the population is going up is because. We have been making an extra effort to help the community and Mountain Gorillas for a long time. There population is still low in the world. And it's also believed that this virus is related to another virus called SARS. But Health officials don't yet know if this virus will spread as fast as SARS or even if it may kill as many people.

In surprise,a wall got beaten down, and the patients didn't know if they were going to survive. But they were lucky so they did. Don't forget about traffic. The traffic was crazy, the cars were lined up on the traffic all the way. The patients who were just getting driven there didn't know if they were going to survive too.
Officials are still determining how long it will take to repair and clean up the hospital, but a temporary emergency department was set up in the Jim Pattison building on the hospital site.
The B.C. Ambulance Service was busy diverting patients to other hospitals, and those who normally would attend Surrey Memorial for emergency attention were asked to go to other hospitals including Peace Arch, Royal Columbian and Langley Memorial.

Beales said it was shocking to see so much water flowing through the emergency ward. “There was a lot of water in there,” he said. “Right now it is six inches to a foot deep.”
Terry Pryor, 78, of Langley was at the hospital to see a doctor for cancer treatment. He was not sure how he would get home after his driver failed to show up because of the traffic jam. They think that it'll open back up tomorrow.

According to, Time For Kids there is a never seen before whale. In December of 2010, mammal scientist Anton van Helden was driving in New Zealand when he received a phone call. It was an employee from the ocean conservation department ( Just a wild life service ) telling him two beaked whales had washed up at a place called Opape Beach in New Zealand. They have only seen bone fragments or skeletons and they washed up there because they died in the water some where in the ocean.

Twinkies, Ding Dongs and wonder bread no more, Hostess brand is shutting down because of bakers striking. They said they were getting lower money than they should be getting. Also in past years, there were some difficulties with management and high labor costs.

What- How Middle East has changed since gaza conflict. Hama's firing rockets to Isreal and Isreal is crushing missle and bomb barrages. Like a reapet of 08/09. And a horrible death of 1,300 men,children and women. Also Hamas is in a whole new place now.

When- This has continued to happen from 2008 up to today 2012.

How- Hamas stareted to go against the speech for freedom in Isreal

Who- The guy named Hamas who started all of this and the one who killed all those inisent people.

Where- This happend in Middle East Africa and Isreal and still is counting in those same spots.

Why- Because Hamas was against the rights for represesion and freedom in Isreal. links below

Acorrding to global bc and cbc this year Israel and hamas are presenting a truce to Egypt. But if Egypt declines this Truce the fighting will get worse. But in the past 6 days 109 Palestinians have been killed and 3 Israelis have been killed.

According to the news Sunday’s attack in Gaza City was the single-deadliest since the conflict ascended with the Israeli assassination of Hamas military chief on Wednesday. the Palestinian death amount was at 81, including 37 civilians. Some 720 Palestinians have been wounded. Also there have been rocket attacks on southern Israeli in past months.

Acording to time for kids the total population of mountain gorillas, is rising because over the past decade people have put in an extra effort to help the population of the mountain gorillas. And now the resault seems to come psitive. According to some new info from the uganda wildlife authority and WWF, the total world popilation from mountain gorillas increased from the last two years to populated from 786 to 880!!

According to NBC news, Einstiens brain reveals clues to his genius. After Einstien died, Thomas Harvey (the pathologist) took out Einstiens brain and kept it. According to CNN News, Israel and Gaza are shooting rockets and war planes over the skies. Schools and offices in Southern Israel and Palestinian territory of Gaza are closed. It is very frighting, specially for young children hearing "booms" and load sounds, everyone is under threat. "We can't go on like this," said Ashkelon Mayor Benny Vaknin, who drives the streets of his city checking on residents." There was thirty eight Palestinians killed on Monday. Gaza Health Officials tell CBC news that so far their have been over 840 people including 225 children have been hurt. Some people say a small war may happen.

Stated by BBC News, ancient drawings have been stolen and several were damaged by petty thieves. These thieves haven't been identified yet. Apparently, the thieves used power saws to cut through the wall to steal only for money as it seems. This was last updated today, there was no date shown on when this happened sadly. The theft happened in the desert site near Bishop, California.
