MONDAY: UNICEF

Today, students learned about UNICEF, why it was created, and what this organization stands for. In addition to this, the students learned about the poverty cycle and how sometimes, children living in developing countries (3rd world countries), often get stuck living in poverty for generations and generations. If children are forced into child labour, they are unable to receive an education, which inevitably leads to a job that does not pay well. When these children get older, because they lack the education to get a good job, they end up living in poverty and the cycle starts over again when they in turn have children.

UNICEF helps children with the following:
- Education, to help kids grow so they can earn money for their families in the far future and also to supply their families.
- Clean Water, to not drink any dirty materials that could possibly be inside it or bones or a dead fish.
- Healthy Food, to make sure they grow strong and healthy and not to eat too much Candy or eating just-killed animals that haven't been cooked and are still raw.
- Health, to have check ups to see what is wrong and to know their health, and also to get flu shots and vaccines to the diabetes they have retrieved over the past.

Both websites are reliable because one website has donations you can give to the children. They also give information about them selves and what they do to help the children. 4 things UNICEF helps children with:

1.) A lot of children around the world are in danger of deadly diseases. Every minute, a child dies from a preventable disease but they don't have the proper health care to find a cure. UNICEF protects children from deadly diseases by getting the children immunized. In fact, UNICEF vaccinates a third of the world's children.

2.) They help kids that don't have enough food to survive. (A child dies every 15 seconds because of hunger.) UNICEF provides 80% of the world's life saving emergency food. Without food are bodies and brains don't develop the way they should.

3.) They help kids that have been effected by natural disasters like earthquakes, typhoons, and floods. Natural disasters destruct homes, schools, and even families. When a school is destroyed kids also can't go to school and get an education which we learned in class, the poverty cycle, will lead to the child not getting a good job to support their family. UNICEF helps by rebuilding towns, homes, and schools.

4.) UNICEF helps kids from violence and abuse. In war zones, on the streets of violent cities, and sometimes in their own homes and schools kids get abused and get involved with violence. In a result to this every 5 minutes a child dies from abuse and violence. Millions of kids live in physical and emotional fear. UNICEF helps protect those children by setting up services to help them and their families by working with governments to make sure national child protection systems are effective.

Four things that UNICEF does to help children.

1.) A lot of children around the world are in danger of deadly diseases like Ebola. UNICEF protects children from deadly diseases by getting the children immunized.

2.) A child needs food to live because food is fuel for our bodies. And in developing country's children don't eat a lot because food cost money and can't afford it. In 2012, 162 million children died because they did not have much food but UNICEF gave food to these country's.

3.) UNICEF helps children out of violence like wars and street fights so they won't get hurt or worse happens to them. Children are forced from there homes to go fight in wars but UNICEF tries to stop children from going to war.

4.) UNICEF pervides children with safe, clean water to drink and bath in because a healthy child is a happy child. If clean water was not available children would die of the diseases and bacteria in the water.

UNICEF started in 1946 December 11th after world war II. It was created to feed children give them heath care.

The four things that UNICEF helps the children are.....

1.) UNICEF helps children for having nutritious food and clean/ fresh water to drink, because most children don't have those needs. In fact every year, many children die from drinking bad, chemical water, being dehydrated, or starving badly. Many of these deaths are responsible from illnesses, starvation, dehydration, diseases, and sanitation. They also have food fundraisers to help the children in need that do not have nutritious food to eat.

2.) UNICEF also helps the children to have an education. In fact children having an eduaction can break the cycles of poverty, disease and social inequity. This is why UNICEF works to make sure that all children have access to quality and gender. They also build schools for those countries that don't have a school. Education also helps the children to get a job in the future so that if they do have kids they can support them by giving them what they need like food, and water.

3.) UNICEF helps the children that are really sick, and the children that have a diesease/ illness. Health care is a big thing for the children that are sick, because the children that take vaccines and medications get better and it prevents them from getting more sick. By having health care the people that help for the UNICEF can see the children who are sick so that they could help them by getting the children vaccinated.

4.) UNICEF also helps children from abuse and violence. For this the children that get abused get to be protected by the UNICEF, because many children work in dangerous jobs that get abused constantly. The children that are abused are often forced to work even more, for this a child that works in dangerous zone that doesn't have fresh air, the child can get a lung disease.

UNICEF was created to help people espicially children that need the needs and wants like food, clean water, clothing, shelter, protection from violence and abuse, exploitation, and an education. UNICEF was created After the World War II when they brought food to Europe in December, 1946.

Unicef was created in 1946 one year after world war 2. It was created because kids in Europe were not getting education, medical supplies, food, etc. I think this website is reliable because the main point why unicef was made in a two minute slide show.
