Monday: Graphic Organizers (POPPLET.COM)

Today, students continued working on their essay writing. To facilitate the planning process, they created graphic organizers to visually see how the structure of their body paragraphs will unfold. It is now clear to the students what their topics and supporting points are. The students created their concept maps using the mobile Popplet app on the iPads. They are also able to create them via their website at www.popplet.com. When they begin writing their body paragraphs tomorrow, they will easily be able to expand on their plans.

2.) WRITE A RESPONSE #1: Complete the following:

What career interests you and why? Give an explanation of what the job requires and what exactly it is that interests you about it.

List 2 RELIABLE sources (links).

3.) WRITE A RESPONSE #2: Visit Gamer's e-folio and comment on at least 3 of his posts.

Give constructive feedback.

The job that interests me the most is an engineer why you may ask well I think the fact that engineers get to build and fix stuff interests me like when I was little I loved to build big space ships and stuff and I love to build stuff ever since. I think I get the hobby from my dad because when he was little he loved to build stuff with Lego and he had two big buckets full. The education that is required is a degree in math a bachelors degree mechanical engineering. (This is depending on what type of engineer you what to be the one I picked is mechanical) Engineers have to be creative and open to new work on there field of work.

I want to become a lawyer because it would be fun to go to negotiate with people and listen to what the problem is. In order to become a lawyer, you must obtain a law degree and fulfill the educational and training requirements for admission to a law society. Becoming a lawyer takes time and effort - but if you're willing to make the commitment, it can lead to a challenging and rewarding career. To be honest, when I was younger I wanted to be a teacher, a vet, and more! Although now, I am more interested in becoming a lawyer. A few reasons why I want to become a lawyer is because I want to challenge myself because you are basically persuading your audience without telling a lie. Also because I am a little inerested in law- I guess it runs in my family! Having a great career when your older, you would be proud to tell people your job. (:
If you want to become a lawyer it requires
In order to become a lawyer in B.C, you are required to have finished bachelors degree of law. *From a Canadian law University*
You also need to get a certificate of qualification from NCA.
Lastly, you need to complete a 12 month program called Law Society's Admission program. You will take a "Professional Legal training course."
And that is how to become a lwayer in British Colmbia! :D

The job I want to be is a professional athlete. This job requires plenty different things. First of all, you need to be physically fit. For example, in basketball if you can't go back and forth on the court then you wont be able to play. Secondly, you need have determination. For example, in hockey, you need to be determined to get to the puck, and don't let anybody get it away from you. Lastly, you need to have the passion. The reason is because, if you don't like playing sports, then you wont try to the best you possibly can. You need to have an education in public speaking skills because you are going to get interviewed by people.

I am interested in lawyer I think it would be fun to be a lawyer because just like negotiating with people and being able to have a bias opinion on the topic. Here is some information about how to become a lawyer.Some lawyers spend more time in the courtroom than others, working as trial lawyers. While some lawyers work in private practice, others find employment in government, legal aid societies, or within corporations. (Oh hello, look I remembered to get on today)

When I get older I want to be a Youtuber, yes, it may sound like a bad idea, with nothing really there, but I would really like to make them, plus, you can make money off it! And for what it requires is creativeness, excitement, enthusiasm, you need to love what your doing, and get your viewers pumped to watch you. Really, being a Youtuber requires no education, but, most people who were successful youtubers went to film school, to know how to edit, work a camera, and make sure their videos were a good quality, I for one, am going to move to England when I get older, so I can go to the University of Lincoln, because it's a high ranking film school across the world. The job that I am interested in is a professional gamer. Why am I interested in this career? Well, that's the thing I was just going to talk about! I am interested in this career because #1, you get to enjoy your job more, #2, you also get to go around the world for tournaments and stuff and #3, you also get a lot of money for winning tournaments. Some skills you MUST need for this job is #1, gaming skills, well duh! because you are wanting to be a professional gamer, #2, you need patience so you can wait it line to get a new game, or wait in line for your turn in the tournament, and wait in the airplane to go to a tournament. #3, you really need fast fingers so you can touch the buttons faster and win the game. WOAH!...wait a sec you need education for gaming?! Yes, you do. Here are the education you will need. #1, gaming school, you probably think this is silly, but it's true you need education for gaming. #2, you will also need some math skills to think critically about puzzle games or WOW and LOL.

I am interested in being a kindergarten teacher because I really like being the leader and teaching little kids. Every K-12 Teacher, will have to have been through a 4-year Bachelor degree program in Education. To be a teacher you have to be able to speak publicly, Know how to teach/know what your teaching about, And Patience. You need to speak publicly because if you don't know how to, then you might not speak loud enough or not make things clear for the students. You need knowledge because if you don't have any knowledge, then there's no point in teaching anyone anything. To be a teacher you also need patience(Especially in the lower grades), because there will be many challenging things/students as you become a teacher.

The career that interest me most is a pilot. I want to be a pilot because I like flying, and travelling to different. Plus I am going to be joining air cadets in april so that will help me when I go to become a pilot. To be a pilot you need to have completed high school and to have graduated from a certified flight or aviation school. Depending on which type of pilot you are you may need a degree. And the different types of pilots need different licences. Some companies just require a high school diploma and others a four year university degree. And some you don't have to have a degree but you can have one.

The career that interests me the most is being a doctor. Ever since I was very young, the only person I wanted to be when I was older would be a doctor. When I was around three years old I got a doctors kit type thing for my birthday. I would play with it everyday and I didn't know what most of the things were so I would ask my parents and they would tell me what you would use them for. Hearing all of that I began having for interest is being a doctor. As I grew older I would go to the library and take out books about the human body and take notes and learn new things. I love helping people, and being a doctor is a perfect career. To become a doctor it requires hard work and dedication. You probably think, it's not that difficult, but trust me it is not the easiest job. You need to go to undergraduate school, medical school, and many more. Also, you need to have undergraduate school work in biology, physics, math, etc. Another very important things is to have desire to work with patients.

The job that interests me the most is being a pro athlete. Being a pro athlete you have to be physically fit and you have to keep up with your school education. That means that you have to get good grades in school or you can get kicked from the team. Most people that want to become a pro athlete don't become one because there is probably a lot of people trying to be one. There is sometimes a lot of lower leagues that have more teams which means if your really good you will have a good chance of getting on a team. Most pro athletes get paid a lot and some don't. For some sports you get paid on how good you did throughout the season and some get paid on how good you are at the end of the season. All the pro athletes train and practise for over 40 hours a week.

A Career That I'm interested in is being a Professional athlete! To be a Professional athlete You must train hard, Be physically fit, also, You have to have the right education. If you want to become a professional athlete then you need to be Dedicated and Determined because lots of other people want to become a professional athlete you may not get picked. You need to train hard which means waking up at 6:00 am and going for a jog or doing 250 sit-ups and push ups every morning. Some professional athletes get paid a lot but sometimes they don't it depends on what type of player you are. If you don't get on the high-level of the team then you get on and you can always get a low level. Like football there's the NFL and CFL.

The one job that I would like to do when I am older is to be a teacher. I want to be a teacher because I like being a older role model for younger kids and to be able to teach them the stuff you need to know when you become older. I would love to go to McGill university in Quebec so I looked on their website for what education you need to have to be a teacher I was looking at what educationi need to have before I go into schooling. I need a undergraduate degree in physical and health ed, exercise science and a minimum academic standing.

I actually have two careers that interest me, but I will only talk about one. Aviation has always been a dream job for me. Ever since I was young and my dad took me in an airplane cockpit I fell in love with being a pilot. I love the way people refer to a pilot as captain something or in this case captain Richard. I also like that you can also work in the airforce if you become a pilot. You need to know geography like the back of your hands. You also need to have a 4 year degree in college, and you need to go to a flight school.
