Mystery Google Hangout

Today, we did a lot of learning! So much that Mr. Fisher and I were still very excited at the end of the day because it was so amazing! We had a unique opportunity to connect with a class from the U.S.A (Frankfort, Illinois) by having a Mystery Google Hangout with them! It was amazing to see how powerful technology can me in our learning. We learned questioning, geography, communication, and collaboration skills. Learning together is extremely powerful. it is important to learn and hear different perspectives to have a better understanding of a topic. Later in the day, we wrapped up our mini-inquiry unit and ended it with an amazing cheer! "When we inquire, we're on fire! The Learning Never Stops!"

After I watched the video and visited the website, I think Frankfort is a small downtown.

Frankfort downtown is a small village in U.S.A. People in Frankfort are not really rich, but they are happy. Buildings in Frankfort are small and short but the downtown has a special style and it is pretty beautiful.

Frankfort is a "beautiful" downtown. People are lucky in Frankfort.

But, you can consider next time to add a little more detail to further improve this. You may add some examples and maybe explain why they are joyful. This will only make your writing even better. After I watched the video and visited the website, I think Frankfort is a small downtown.

Frankfort downtown is a small village in U.S.A. People in Frankfort are not really rich, but they are happy. Frankfort is a clean place and there are less litter in Frankfort because people do lots of community services. Buildings in Frankfort are small and short but the downtown has a special style and it is pretty beautiful.

Frankfort is a "beautiful" downtown. People are lucky in Frankfort.

After watching the video and looking through the website, I found out that Frankfort Illinois is a really clean place because they do a lot of community services where they do branch pickup schedules, garbage and yard waste removals and leaf collection schedules. Watching the video I also found out that Illinois has a lot of green. In conclusion Frankfort Illinois is a really clean place with lots of nature.

After I watched this video and visited this website, I am coming to understand that Frankfort is very organized, in their streets, it is very clean, on the right side of the streets, are houses, on the left side of the streets are surrounding by green trees and grass and flower. even though Frankfort is small, but it has their own characteristics, many countries can learn from their countries a lot.
In conclusion, Frankfort is a great country, I‘d like to visit their country in summer if I can.

I've learned that Frankfort is BIG on nature and the environment. For example, there are many bike trails you can take through the city. (Like in Richmond). There are also special crews that pick up branches, clean up the city, etc. Frankfort also has many amazing places you can go to. For example, downtown Frankfort has award winning restaurants, unique shopping, (the country market!!) and a LOT of outdoor recreation, making it a fun place to live.
I would probably like to live there, but since it's in the US, where there is no gun control laws whatsoever, I would more likely stay here. :)

Frankfort is the little city that we skyped with today! From the questions we asked, they seem interesting but I need to know more!
After reading the website, I learned that Frankfort is really picky about nature and the environment. For example, there are many bike trails you can take through the city. (Like in Richmond). There are also special crews that pick up branches, clean up the city, remove snow...etc. Frankfort also has many amazing places you can go to. For example, downtown Frankfort has award winning restaurants, unique shopping, (the country market!!) and a LOT of outdoor recreation, making it a fun place to live.

After a slight bit of research and watching the video, I have come to the understanding that Frankfort Illinois is a tiny town that covers just about 38.98 km². Their official flower is petunia which is a cute purple flower with a blotch of yellow in the middle. The official tree is the Crabapple Tree which provides crunchy and juicy apples. Downtown Illinois has a variety of shops from garden accessories to butcher shops. There is also the iconic 21-mile recreation and nature trail in northeastern Illinois. The beautiful landscape on the trail with leave you stunned. This town seems unreal and I would love to live there.

After a slight bit of research and watching the video, I am coming to understand that Frankfort Illinois is a tiny town that covers just about 38.98 km² with an estimated population of 22,000. The community service cleans up the fallen branches every Monday and picks up the garbage/recycling, to ensure that the town is kept clean at all times.

Frankfort is an old town with many bikes and bike paths, such as the 21 mile Old Plank Road Trail Bike Path located in northern Frankfort. In addition, in downtown, there are many famous restaurants and stores that sell all kinds of things, from bikes, to flowers. Also, there are many museums like the KidsWork museum or the History museum that you can visit.

Frankfort is actually a miniature town, it only has a total area of 15.5 square miles. The mayor of Frankfort is Jim Holland. The official flower of Frankfort are the Petunia, which was chosen as the official flower on March 1979, and the official tree is the Flowering Crabapple Tree, which was adopted in 1974. From the mystery call I learned many things. One of the major things I learned was how connect people can be with social media doesn't matter how far they are. The other thing that it seemed like as I was anylazing the class during the call I saw that there weren't many different ethnicities in that area. Overall I really enjoyed being part if the call.

We had a unique opportunity called “Mystery Google Handout” with another class from U.S.A Frankfort, lllions today.

But wait, I have no idea about what’s U.S.A Frankfort, lllions. Until after I watch video, I learned that Frankfort, lllions is a little town with all those beautiful nature. There’s lots of trees, flowers and plants. During watching the video, I can tell that this place was really organized, the streets kept nice and clean. I think it’s a bit similar to a resort town. Well, because all the building looks really similar, including these shops, they were like gift shops. It makes my want to learn more about it and maybe someday I can visit their with my family.

Frankfort was founded in 1855 and incorporated in 1879. The land was inhabited by Native Americans from at least 1700 to 1840. There were Pottawatomie Indians, loosely associated with Chippewa and Ottawa tribes. Then came the French fur traders and land speculators. As many as 50% of the Indians were mixed blood, as late as 1820. The first real owners of the land in Frankfort Township, in a sense that they came to work and live on the land, were those people who were the first true pioneers and they sank their roots deep in the soil. Their names were: James Boorman, arthur Bronson, John Fennertz, Horatio J. Loomis, Sylvester Bowen and Harvey Higgins. They made Frankfort what it is today.

While the first pioneers were mostly of English and Scottish descent, German settlers from Pennsylvania made the Village of Frankfort a reality. in the 1840's Frankfort Township was named by Frederick Cappel after his native city, Frankfurt-Am-Main, Germany. In 1855, the Joliet and Northern Indiana Railroad built a line through the present Village and named it, "Frankfort Station.� After the Village was incorporated, the word "Station" was dropped from the name.

Recently ranked 36th in the nation's fastest growing suburbs by Forbes Magazine, Frankfort is thriving. Known as the "Jewel of the South Suburbs." Frankfort has been recognized with the Southland's Reader's Choice award for "Best Community.� Experiencing rapid growth, attracting new residents, commercial and industrial businesses, Frankfort is a premier community with award-winning schools and exceptional residential, commercial and industrial development. In 2014, Frankfort was named by Chicago Magazine as one of the top places to live. And I think it would be a greaat time of year to visit the small city of Frankfort the old downtown looks really interesting with all the old school benches, mailbox’s, water towers and the best part the people there do look like the nice people u would want to meet!

I have not been there myself but I have visited many tourism sites and this small city in one that list and I think we should all have a nice winter vacation in the small and now FAMOUS FRANKFORT!!!!

WOW! Frankfort really is breathtaking!

After watching the video, I think Frankfort isn't as big, but it is really clean and neat. The streets have no litter or garbage and not many cars are bustling around like it does here in Vancouver. I think Frankfort has an unique building style that attracts more attention and makes it look more like a theme park attraction! The trees were nicely decorated as well as their lamp posts. Nature and people really get along well there.

All of this tells me that Frankfort isn't a very busy place and people there really care about the environment. Overall, I think Frankfort is definitely a beautiful place!!! :)

Even though there might not be as much food, entertainment, or shops as Vancouver does, Frankfort out-stands itself with its amusing community events.

From reading the website and having the mystery Skype (Hangout) call with the other class, I have already learned so much about this tiny town in a single day. I learned that this town is near Chicago and that it is very small. I learned how they have a very pretty style of structure in their buildings. Now, I will tell you what I’ve personally learned about this town.

To conclude, I know understand that such a small town can still out-stand itself for its awesome community, variety of events, interesting history, and a attractive style of architecture. In the future, I would be delighted if I could go there for vacation to experience and learn about this astonishing town!

I learned that Frankfort is a beautiful little town just outside of Chicago in the United States. They have a lot of beautiful plants and buildings. The classroom we did the Skype call with today is from there. I origially thought that the skype call wasn’t going to be really fun but it actually turned out to be pretty interesting. The only thing was that I kept on putting my hand up since I wanted to ask something to the other class but got ignored. It’s fine though. I don’t really mind haha.

Anyways, I thought that the mystery Skype call was actually quite fun! I look forward to doing it again.

Frankfort downtown is an old village in U.S.A. and has lots history to share! From about 1700 to 1840, the land was inhabited by Native Americans. Frankfort inhabitant by Americans in 1855 which was incorporated in 1879. Over the last few hundred years, the population has grown up to about 22 thousand people! Although it is such an old town, people are still joyful about living here.

Since this town is old, there is a variety of buildings from past to present. An old water tower was built in the center of town, which is designed to store water for the people. The oldest and biggest building in the town is named as Frankfort Grainery. The town also have an Old Plank Trail, which is about 20 miles long and surrounded by numerous trees. National City Bank La Grange is a new structure which has a fountain in front of the building. The fountain looks like a blue sky under the sun’s ray of light. Most people of Frankfort live in houses instead of apartments or big buildings. Each house has lots of clear windows. In conclusion, there is a good assortment for past and present buildings in the town.

Even though the town occupy a small area, the landscape is very clean and has lots of greenery. The reason of scenery cleans is mostly contribute to clear air and there isn’t much garbage around! Frankfort is very hygienic and has lots of trees and flowers like Canada. The land is flat so you can see very far, from where you stand seeing the far, the sky and earth will merge together at remote horizon. Frankford is so green that it suits people living here!

All in all, this town is very green. It has stories to share and has many buildings that have a long time. People are very lucky to be living in Frankfort, just as how we are lucky to live in Canada. I wish I could visit Frankfort downtown one day!

That's what I thought of when I watched the video of the historic downtown in Frankfort, Illinois. There are lush green trees that grow all through out the town. This town looks a little bit old fashioned but new at the same time. Its got that FRESH feeling about it. FUN FACT: Frankfort's official flower is the Petunia. It was chosen in March, 1979. (CONNECTION: HARRY POTTER'S AUNT IS CALLED AUNT PETUNIA, AND THE OFFICIAL FLOWER IN FRANKFORD IS A PETUNIA!) The official tree in Frankfort is the Flowering Crabapple Tree and it was chosen in 1874. Overall I think that (from the video) Frankfort, Illinois is a safe and peaceful place to live in.... I still like where I live better though :)

Frankfort, Illinois has a very small community, but great people. Yesterday we talked to some students and learned about where they were from! It was very interesting to learn about a place that I didn’t really know much about.

Now I know it’s a small town of about 20 thousand people! Also did you know that in 2007 the village ranked as the 36th fastest growing suburb in the United States. It’s a very interesting place to be !

Wow when I looked at that beautiful town I thought that i was imagining. But it’s true, Frankfort is a beautiful historical and modern city.the most surprising thing was for me that they didn’t know what a sky train was!!!! One thing that I really liked was that they had a farmers market.

When I looked at the video I thought wow that would such a great place to live!! I love the nature there and since I really love biking long distance, short distance and doing tricks the path there is perfect. I learned that even smaller communities that you lean about can be very fascinating. I would like to visit Frankfort in the future.

I Iearnd that Frankfort is a great town in U.S just right be side Chicago , they have beautiful house there.
Frankfort was in inhabited by native American in 1700 to 1840, their was also other people live in that area for a very longtime, they have a lot of lake.
I think that Frankfort is a really fun I think if I have time I might go to that town.

I also love the buildings they are fascinating and look like they are from a fairytale. I learned that even smaller communities that you lean about can be very fascinating. I would like to visit Frankfort in the future.
