Novel Approach: Written Response

Reading is the key to your future!

Today, you all watched how to use your visible thinking and your graphic organizers to write your written responses for the Novel Approach. Tomorrow, Mr. Redican will model some of his written response by using his visible thinking and graphic organizer for 'SEE YOU AGAIN'. After seeing part of my response and Mr. Redican's response, you should have a good idea how to write yours. Don't forget, use the criteria sheet that is handed out in class tomorrow.

1.) MATH: Watch this video on ANGLES.

2.) LA/NOVEL APPROACH:

Make sure you have your Gmail/Drive login name and password at school tomorrow so you can work on your written response in class tomorrow.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Today, you watched Mr. Hong use his visible thinking sheet (ANGEL) and his graphic organizer to start writing his written response for the Novel Approach.
Tomorrow, after you see Mr. Redican model his written response, you will start writing yours.
List 3 paper items that will help you complete your written response.
For each item, list why they are important in helping you complete the written response assignment. For example, what is visible thinking? In your PAR tonight, you should probably mention something about the reading strategies you learned.
Comment on 1 other students response to give them something to add to their PAR.
Edit/revise.

Criteria

The reason criteria is important is because it helps you stay on track for example if I forget what to write about what can i do to solve the problem?? i can look at the criteria sheet.

Background knowledge

Is important because it helps you write where ever you are you will be able to relate to songs,poems,stories basically anything can remind you of something if you have background knowledge.

{ Visble thinking}

Is a great way to help you when you write it helps because you have ideas and connections on visible thinking sheets for example in the song see you again the sentence ( "so let the light guid your way"). That sentence is powerful to me because it reminds me of my dog that died and i was really upset that she passed on. But to me ( " so let the light guid your way" ) reminds me that there's always a light at the end of a tunnel!!.

Well I'm done I guess I will be back to edit and revise it if I get feedback to fix my P.A.R.

Mr.Hong I just noticed that some of the students added to there P.A.R graphic organizer but you didn't say what you had to write you just said list 3 iteams right??? I added 3 but I chose them on my own but are the ones I picked good?? even if I didn't put graphic organizer??.

The Items:
Firstly criteria will help you to know what your assigned to do for a project or work.
Secondly graphic organizer so you can see what you wrote.
Thirdly your visible thinking so you can find and understand easier.

I think this helps with lots of things. Like what you have to do for your work and so you can get better marks.

@ Jaci - In class today, I mentioned you would need two handouts to get all your ideas from so you could write your response. Also, we discussed another handout (you're going to receive this tomorrow) that you will definitely need in order to know what you're doing and why is required. Name all of these handouts and why they are all important.

Criteria:You need the criteria so you know what to do so you could get good marks on your assignment.

Visible thinking sheet or MESSI writing: So you write down your thinking on paper then it will make it easier to write on your written response.

Graphic organizer: So you could make your MESSI writing easier to understand.

Criteria - It's important to have a criteria sheet so students (and teachers) will keep on track on what they're supposed to be doing.

Graphic Organizer - This will also help you see your own work while you sort stuff out from your visible thinking sheet.

Visible Thinking - Write what you thought or feel while your reading this song/story/phrase/sentence.

The criteria is very important because if you don't know what the others are doing, you could just look at the criteria.

2.) Graphic Organizer
Its important because it will make you're thinking even better, and it makes you understand more.

3.) Background Knowledge
It helps you understand even more better, and its very useful.

Criteria: Its their to help you see what you have to do and what are the minimum/maximum requirements for the highest score possible.

Visible Thinking: So we can see what we wrote and look back at it and see all the things that add up to find the big idea

Graphic Organizer: This is basically taking all that visible thinking and organizing it to help find the big idea.
