Learning with Ozobots!

This week was a busy week. In addition to completing part of the FSAs, we also finished up our Plant I.D. projects and starting moving on our ecosystems scientific inquiry! We learned how to make detailed observations and how to track them in order to synthesize and evaluate the data when it comes time to do so. We also dove deep into paragraph writing. We will be focusing on paragraph writing for the next few weeks as we have done since September.

Everyone is quite excited about the classroom economy we are starting. Our first class auction will be held the Friday before Halloween.
LEARNING INTENTION: I can learn about financial literacy and how an economy works.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) PARAGRAPH FORMAT: intro/body/conclusion
2.) BODY: Include 2 classroom jobs you want to take on. In your details, be sure to explain
how you are qualified for the position. EXAMPLE - I think I want to apply to be
one of our classroom bankers. Some qualifications that I have for the position
include my organization skills, math skills, and attention to detail. I think I would be
an asset to the class if I were to be hired as a banker.
3.) GIVENS/CONVENTIONS OF WRITING: Spelling, capitals, grammar, sentence structure,
and punctuation.
4.) SELF-ASSESSMENT: Check to make sure you have fulfilled the above criteria. State if
you have anything to add in your revised version. PEER-ASSESSMENTS are
optional this weekend.

Classroom economy. What is it? Well, for now, let's focus on the "economy" piece of it. Essentially, economy means the resources and wealth of a community. Our classroom economy is similar to this. We will have jobs, paychecks, and we will be able to earn Hong-Bucks to buy things for ourselves. In order to have the freedom to buy what we would like, we need to have money. To earn money, we need to have jobs, or complete tasks. I, myself, would like to apply for the job of a banker. I feel that I can do this because I understand most of the math concepts necessary for this job, and I can keep track of how many Hong-Bucks people have. I also think that being the banker would be a fun and interesting job, because I enjoy keeping track of things and writing them down. Another job that I would like to take on is the Lights & Curtains Manager. It is a simple task, so it is quick and easy to do. Because of this, I would also like to simultaneously be the class librarian. I think that I would be good for this job because I can easily keep track of things in a notebook, or I could make a classroom book-checkout sheet so that I know who has the books and when they had it. This will make it easier to see where a book is if no one can find it. These are the three classroom jobs that I would like to apply for for our classroom economy.

I believe that these last two jobs are good jobs for me to do simultaneously because they are not that challenging, and I know that I have the ability to do them both.

What is classroom economy? Economy is like a cycle, just like a class economy. In Mr.Hong’s classroom, there is a class economy. We have jobs, paydays and checks. We will get Hong bucks if we do our work like PAR, math homework and read. We can also get jobs which are like bankers, librarians, cleaning monitors, and a lot of officers, too! Since I am in Mr.Hong’s class, I would like to take on being librarian or banker. I would like to take on being librarian, because I love books and I would like to take care of them. I would also like to take on being banker because I enjoy doing math. It’s because I also like keeping track of stuff, so stuff won’t seem that complicated. I have actually kept track of my stuff sometimes, so my brother won’t steal them. Great paragraph Winna! I enjoyed reading, it, as it has a nice structure, and you listed clear reasons for your desired jobs.

Feedback: In my opinion, I don't think there are any major problems with your paragraph, but I still think you could be a little more careful with your grammar. For instance, the sentence, 'we will get Hongbucks if we do our work like PAR, math homework, and read'. Instead, change this sentence into 'we will get Hongbucks if we do our assignments, which include PAR, math homework, and reading'. One last piece of feedback would be for you to use different transitions. You should get out of your comfort zone, and try to use transitions other than 'also', and 'like'. All things considered, your paragraph was remarkable, and only needed some finishing touches. Great job!

If you were given the opportunity to apply for a classroom job, what would it be? In Division 1, a classroom economy, also known as Hong Bucks, has taken place since a few weeks ago. Adding to that, I'm an excellent observer, so I can check if everyone has written in their planners. Lastly, I'd like to be the banker. FEEDBACK: You have some incorrect punctuation. For example, when you said, "one of the topic is financial literacy? Well, what is financial literacy," you need to switch the question mark to a period, and a period to a question mark. There was also some incorrect grammar. For example, when you said, "Overall, it is anything have to do with money," the "have" needs to be "having" because you are speaking in present tense. Or, you could eliminate the "have" altogether. This year our class got the chance to have our class economy, but first, what is an economy? It means the wealth and resources in a country, especially in the production and consumption of goods and services. But in this case, it's a lot smaller, just our classroom. We will have jobs, pay cheques and earn Hong buck. There are a lot of different jobs you can apply for, but you need a specific skill to apply for a more difficult job, just like in real life. The more skill required to do a job, the more you get paid. Speaking of jobs, I would be interested to apply for a few of them. First of all, I would be interested to apply for the librarian, I can meet the requirement for this job and organize the books selves and keep track of all the books by listing them down. I can also write down when someone borrows a book. I'm also interested to apply for a banker, I can understand the math in the economy and I'm great a keeping track of things. I can record and list down how much they have in the bank and keep track of how much money they have. I can also make a document online to keep track so it doesn't get lost. These are the two jobs I would like to apply for. I am excited that we get to participate in this and have our class economy.

FEEDBACK: Add more about why you think you should be hired for that job. For example, have you always been on track in PAR? If you have, you can add that.
FEEDBACK 2: Check the givens. There are many spots where you missed commas, so make sure you're checking and reading over. For example, after "First" there should be a comma. "First,..." that goes for second, and last, as well. After "clean" there should also be a comma. There are a couple more, so check it over!

Feedback: Check for the givens because you misspelled "would" as "wold" a few times. You also had a grammar error because you said the word "organized" when it wasn't supposed to be past tense. Also your second sentence was a run-on sentence so I would reccomend splitting it up into three sentences.

This is the first time I am doing a classroom economy! On the topic of classroom economy, what is an economy? An economy is the large set of interrelated production and consumption activities that aid in determining how scarce resources are allocated. Well, a classroom economy is a very small economy with jobs, rent, loans, ect. like a real economy. The two jobs I would want are PAR police because I am good at checking the class website and the second job I would want is librarian because I am good at listing down everyone's name who has borrowed a book, what book they borrowed, when they borrowed it, and when they should give the book back. I am very excited for this school year and I hope I can learn alot about the economy and financial literacy!

I personally have never had classroom economy so I find this a very exciting event happening in my class for once! Have you wondered about what the definition of economy actually is? I will tell you that it means an area of production, distribution and trade, as well as consumption of goods and services. Since my class is having a class economy, I know a few jobs that I am interested in already! First job is librarian because I LOVE books and reading and I think I'd be very happy writing down names of people and books that have been borrowed from the library in our class! The second job that I find very fun is shape of the day and the board, I personally love being organized and setting things up and getting things ready! So I find the board job the perfect job for me! Those are the 2 jobs that I am mostly interested in and I really hope I get hired working as them! I know this is going to be an amazing year and I am very excited to participate in the class economy!

Have you ever heard of the term 'classroom economy'? Well, to break it down, the word economy means "the wealth and resources of a country or region, especially in terms of the production and consumption of goods and services". So, we take that and instead of having it in the world, we put it in our classroom. This year, we will be learning about financial literacy by using Hong bucks.
Personally, I think I would be able to take on the job of PAR Police. Why? Well, I've never missed a PAR, missed doing feedback or revisions, this is important, as you wouldn't want your PAR Police to not even do the PAR. I check the website quite frequently, and I, personally, think that I have a strong ability to check and keep track of work from others. The next job I would do, is planner verifier. I have a pretty good eye for spotting mistakes and missing things, so nothing slips by me. I can do it quite efficiently, as well, meaning I can get the class ready in time! These are the jobs that I think I will do well in and I'm interested in. I'm super excited for this year and I can't wait to see it unfold!

What is an economy? economy means something about resources, money, health of a nation or community. We have an economy in our classroom which is also known as Hong bucks. In order to earn Hong bucks, we need to do our reading log and do some jobs like cleaning the mess, organizing tables, and returning all books that the class has. Hong bucks are used for buying stuff and paying rent for your seat. I would want to apply for tech support, fine officer, and librarian because I am good at sanitizing and returning iPads and laptops. For fine officer I am interested at catching guilty people and many people make fun of me and don’t play fairly to me so if I am a fine officer, I can tell Mr. Hong to tell the guilty student to give the amount of money. I am also interested at being a librarian because returning sounds like fun. These are the 3 jobs that I really want to apply for, and I am really interested at doing these adult jobs but it’s for kids and teens. I read the success criteria at the top of your head.

Throughout this year, our class will become a mini economy with our currency being Hong Bucks. Jobs will be available to us to be able to earn enough money so we can pay for rent and buy rewards. Any job will be fine with me (as long as I get any source of income), though some of them appeal to me more than others. Take the banker for example. I think I’m fit to be a banker because I have the math skills needed to be efficient at that job. Being organized is another trait I have that can be helpful to have as a banker because I can keep track of all the money coming in and out of the bank, as well as loans. The banker position would provide me with a larger income, which is a pro to having this job. Furthermore, I also think that I would be a solid desk checker. That's why in Mr Hong's class we're learning about economy, and it's called Hong buck's, which is our new type of money. Hong buck's can be used by buying seats and auction or bid things possibly. How do you earn it though? Well, we have jobs to employ and earn bucks like a PAR Police, a banker, or a cloakroom cop. In division 1 we started a class economy.Well, how does this class economy work? This class economy is started by Mr. Hong's daughter then Mr. Hong thinks it is a interesting idea, so he brings the idea to our class. In this economy all the students in our class wants to earn money, in fact our class don't use real money we use "Hong bucks" instead. Students try to get job and earn "Hong bucks" which Mr Hong will give us. We also have to pay rent for our desks but we could buy a desk so that we don't have to pay rents. I think this class economy is very interesting, and the job I want the most is the chair monitor. The chair monitor is the job that you make sure all chairs are pushed in while recess lunch and after school, the reason I want this job is because I think it is easy and I don't think I will forgot my job. I know the job chair monitor won't have a lot of salary but I don't really care that much about the salary, so I think the chair monitor is perfect for me. Again I think this class economy idea is brilliant, and I'm very pleasure to be in Mr. Hong's class.

If you have a choice to choose a job what would it be? I'd like to apply for one of the classroom bankers. It is one my strength as a banker, becuase I like to keep track on the money everybody has. Another choice would be a loan officer, because I really like to calculate money and counting cash, it is one of the things I do when I am feeling bored. I've think I can be qualify for one of the two jobs above, I can do math for cash I give and get, I can also remeber everybody amount of cash they have. Overall, I think a banker and a loan officer will fit me well. I also think that this classroom economy is a very good idea from Mr.Hong to make learning and behaving in fun in school, we all also could get perpared for furture investments and to learn how to do savings.

Classroom Economy, what is it? I'm gonna explain it to you. Mr. Hong started hong bucks. Which is to learn about financial responsibility. But a fun version of it. By bringing the real world inside the classroom. And learn to save your money and control your spending.
Questions: How can you earn hong bucks? and how can you spend it?
You can earn hong bucks by doing your works and while working your job. You can earn $300-$750 hong bucks! By doing your job. And doing your homework. But how can you spend it? You can spend it like in real life! you need to pay rent every student needs to pay for their desk spot! Like renting a house. And paying their loans if they have. And you can also rent someone's spot! But you can't be homeless.
The jobs I will apply for is weather checker. Why is that job? I like that job because it's easy and I always check the weather. And you can earn more money!
The second job I will apply for is Agenda checker. I don't have good writing skills but I will try my best to write well. I can check everyone's agenda if they get an initial from their parents and if they wrote the requirements. I don't remember the other jobs. But I will look for others, not only that job. Classroom Economy, what is it exactly?Well Mr.Hong started a price called Hong bucks.Its basically to learn about financial responsibility in a fun way.By taking 80% of real life besides taxes,death,and prison to our classroom.You can get Hong bucks buy doing your homework and your job(Basically think about normal school and life clapping cheeks and 9 months later have a baby and you get payed by Hong bucks).Like your parents are going to for 6-5 more years you'll have rent for your seat, you can buy new homes/sit at different desks.You can't be homeless.You can choose not 69,not 1, but 2 jobs. I would want Agenda checker,and weather checker because it's easy, and it's gonna be hard enough dealing with homework every day,quiz,french,tests, FSA,and spelling.Then after I'm done with that I'll learn that I didn't need like 30% to 60% of the lesson's to be a normal human.Just the point is that it's easy and won't be hard to do.If I get fired I know the teacher that was handed by God to us Mr.Hong will help me get another job.

What is the term "classroom economy"? To put it another way, in OUR classroom economy, we organised something called "Hongbucks," which is basically real money! But only for amusement. We earn these by doing our jobs or completing tasks on time, such as reading logs, math, and more! We'll be deciding on what jobs we can do in the classroom soon, but in the meantime, each job pays well depending on what it is, which I think is a fantastic way to make money! It matters what job you do, for example, if you do a simple job like handing out work, you will obviously will not be paid AS well! However, if you do a more difficult job, you’ll for sure get well paid! However, you might be surprised when you receive these funds. "What do you do with them?" Well, for the time being, we can't do much! We can, however, buy desks and must rent them, as well as chairs! Perhaps later on, we'll be able to purchase candies or other items, such as a goodie bag containing a mystery item! This is a fantastic idea, and I can't wait to receive and use some!

Personally, I would rather have many simple jobs, rather than have 1 complicated job, which brings me to my first few options - lights and blinds. These 2 jobs are both very straightforward, and don't take long at all, which is the main reason I would want to apply for them. Since I have very little to no time after school as well, lights and blinds would not only be very efficient jobs, but it would still be a job that earns you Hongbucks despite the little effort that would be put into it. One other job I'm interested in is the PAR police. I believe this job will be a huge advantage to me, because reason number 1, I'm on my laptop non stop whenever I get the chance to go on it, and number 2, since I have adapted this unhealthy ability to stay up very late, it's very unlikely for me to not have the time to check the website every so often. Although I'm not a very responsible person, I enjoy taking notes, so if I make a list of the people who did or did not do their PAR on a certain day, it could help me keep track, which is another benefit to me because I am also very forgetful. I feel so fortunate to get to do the classroom economy, and I know that this will be a very fun and beneficial way of introducing us to what it's going to be like in the future.

We only use this money in the classroom obviously you can’t go to actual stores and buy stuff with Hongbucks. How do we earn hongbucks? You can earn them by completing your tasks on time. For example, you can earn them by writing in your reading log, doing your par, finishing math and there is so many other things you can do to earn hong bucks. We will probably applying for jobs soon which is also another way to earn money! Also we will have to start paying rent probably shortly after that.
