POWERFUL RESPONSE

Self-Regulated Learners

Today, students continued working on their powerful responses for their picture books. They have been learning from one another through conversations and book clubs. They are now working on writing powerful responses on the big idea of their stories. They will include what they learned from the gift of words, what they learned from their thinking questions, and what they learned from others through conversations and blogging.

1.) MATH: Watch this video to prepare for tomorrow's class.

2.) LA:

Continue working on your powerful response on your Google Doc.
Be sure to share it with Mr. Hong if you haven't already done so in order to receive ongoing feedback to improve your writing.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

What is something you learned from someone during your book club discussions about a powerful phrase or something else about the big idea of your story?
Who did you learn this from?
What exactly did you learn?
Did you make any personal connections to something someone mentioned?
Edit/revise.
CHALLENGE: See if you can communicate with someone on our site about how you can improve your understanding of the big idea (for your picture book).
Ask your group members questions about the big idea.

1.) That the grandfather and the child were both adventurous.
2.) I learned it from Jasmine.
3.) I learned that we should keep and treasure our things from the past.
4.) Yes. When the grandmother said, "You'll eat the food there and forget your home!", Mr. Hong said something about losing your culture and gaining another one when you move to a new country. Just like me, I forget some of my culture back home.

A: I learned that they both are curious

A:yes. when I was little kid I really wanted a diary but now that Iook at it I am like omg my writing was terrible, when did this happen?, omg really,etc.

I learned from Mr. Hong that the colors mean a lot more then I thought. At first I thought, the author was poor and couldn't afford color for the book then when I started reading more, there was more color. Then Mr. Hong, the teacher came a cleared it out for everyone in my group.
