POETRY

You have all been working so hard so you should all take Monday off! Monday is a pro-d day! Enjoy! This week will be a busy one. We are aiming to complete our 'Forbidden City' maps of Beijing for your ratio/proportions assignment. You all learned a great deal during the creation of your map of Africa. I can't wait to see your creations this time around!

NOTICES: Zumba notices, high school registration forms, and camping forms must be returned immediately.

1.) SOCIAL STUDIES:

Complete finding all locations.
Continue working on your project. Due on Friday.

2.) POST A RESPONSE:

Choose an appropriate topic and get creative! Try to make the content of your poem deep and meaningful.
Do some research on the different types of poems and create one.
Define the type of poem in a few sentences.
Ask one student a question about their poem.
Answer any questions you receive.

@ Caden - VISUALIZE! Go sit outside in your backyard and close your eyes. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell? What can you feel? Use your senses to create a vivid picture in your mind and you can pull from these visualizations for your poem!

FEEDBACK - I'm pretty sure that the first line should be "Snowflakes fall smoothly" not "Snowflakes falls smoothly" and in the second line it should be "they" not "it"

@ Caden - As a teacher, I love that you are using the 'LEARNING LANGUAGE' that we have been using in class!

How about keeping it simple? Define a haiku and then create one? Write a poem on your last ski trip.

Halp. For alex's route, the foregin affaris university is on zhanglanguan road which is the road right before sanhile rd. which is the road Alex took. Its says that he went past that university which is not even on the street he took. I am confused.

I have created a limerick. A limerick is a poem where the first, second and fifth line have 7-10 syllables and rhymes. The third and fourth line have 5-7 syllables and rhyme.

This poem is a diamante poem that is about happiness and sadness. Diamante poems always start off as one word and end with the opposite of what you started with. The first line and last line has the first word and the last word you are describing. For instance, the first line is “Happiness” and the last line is “Sadness”. The second line and the second to last line has two adjectives that describe either the last word or the first word. In the third line and the third to last line, there are three verbs on each line that are related to or describe the first and last words. In the fourth line there are nouns that are related to the first and last words. The first two words are related to the first word and the last two words are related to the last word. This line is where the topic transitions into its opposite. The poem uses imagery, like laughing, smiling, gloomy, and dark. The imagery is used to make people imagine people doing those things.

Disclaimer: When I post this diamante poem, all the lines will shift to the left. Therefore, I used hyphens instead of spaces to make the shape of a diamond.

I google searched 'Huang Si Temple' however I couldn't find it anywhere. The only thing that comes up is 'Lama Temple' and 'Temple of Heaven'. Are any of them the same thing as 'Huang Si Temple'?
'Huang Si Temple' is also called 'Yellow Temple' but I just couldn't locate it. It seems that the 'Lama Temple' is on the 2nd ring road near the 3rd ring road.

~What type of poem is this? Some people may not know that this is an acrostic poem, so you should tell people the type of poem.
~You should also define an acrostic poem for those who don't know what it is.

The snowstorm stays strong,

Today, I wrote a Haiku. This form of poem originated from Japan, consisting of seventeen syllables in the whole poem. There are three lines; one line of five syllables, one line of seven, and a last line of five. These poems traditionally describe images of nature.

I don’t really like poems,
I find most quite cheesy.
I think writing a paragraph,
Is far more easy.
Poems tend to have rules-
‘7 syllables, then five.’
But I guess that all things,
Have some sort of design.
I do apologize,
That my poem is lacking-
A meaningful topic,
I apologize for slacking.
Because I don’t really like poems,
Yes, I find them quite a bore,
But for some reason,
I’m happier than before...

It's a free verse poem, because free verse poems have no rules. It was going to be a sonnet, before I realized that sonnets need 10 syllables, and only 14 lines.

Tide pods are poison
They can damage your stomach
Just don't eat them please

I choose a Haiku because it's easy. I saw a tide pod news video and made a poem about it. Just sayin', the fact that people are eating tide pods is kinda stupid.

Title : Friendship Forever

Best friends seems like a worm in your heart,

Start and Stop Poem;

As the night grew,
She seemed wide awake.
Being able to roam around so freely.
Though she was free,
It was only temporary.
As it became darker,
Darker than it has ever been before.
Frightened.
She ran away,
Back home
As the night grew.

When you are in a situation to long and overthink a few things and get paranoid about it.

Someone who doesn’t believe in herself. Everyone is saying nice things about her so she could feel better, but she can see right through them and all she sees are lies.

This poem is a free verse poem, because it doesn't follow a particular form of poem. Free verse poem's have no rule.

Since this is an free verse poem it does't follow any rule. And yes, I don't have that much time so it's likely the 'poem' didn't make any sense.
