POW!

Today was a beautiful Friday of learning at Laurier. We started off the day with Fitness Friday and some energetic games int he gym that got out hearts pumping. We then carried on with the exciting conclusion of Forbidden City and then finished up the two decimals booklet in preparation for our test that will happen around mid-week next week. We spent the majority of the afternoon working on our Roy Lichtenstein-inspired pop art. It is amazing to see how creative our students have been with their original ideas, drafts, and final drafts. WOOT! WOOT!

IMPORTANT: Gr. 6's - Bring some toilet paper/paper towel cardboard rolls.

ALL STUDENTS (Gr.6/Gr. 7) Add some diagrams into your science challenge journals and to your notes. Don't forget to follow the criteria that is outlined on your handouts.

3.) POST A RESPONSE

As Mr. Fisher mentioned in the comments, try to acknowledge your family members this weekend.
Write a paragraph about how you acknowledged someone in your family and what you did to help out around the house.
In your paragraph, also include how they responded by your kind and unselfish act.
Give your classmates positive comments and one question about what they did.
Edit/revise as needed.

@ Emily - Thank someone in your family for something they do for you. for example, thank your parents for always taking the time out of their days to take you to kendo practice, take you to school, etc. The little things we all take for granted should be acknowledged. :-)

What you just read was me trying to acknowledge a family member for doing the everyday things. You see, it’s really odd to out of the blue just saying thank you. But I was bored so I decided to do the PAR and I just so happened to be on the couch with my brother next to me. So that was my awkward thanks. He was confused, obviously, and just kinda went on with life. So that was his reaction.

To help out I wash the dishes every few days. I don’t know there’s not much that I can do in the house that isn’t “safe” as a certain someone says. So I do the everyday chores that are safe. We have a schedule so that it’s somewhat fair. So that’s what I mean by every few days.

In conclusion don’t say something random out of the blue. Also, I just want to say that there are so many people that I need to thank now. They deserve it.

A one of a kind word, it warms peoples hearts, cheers them up and for once this word can actually do something good and this was always expected from these words!
Firstly, I would like to acknowledge my entire family for helping me mentally and physically, and sometimes people just don't notice how hard it is to be a parent, and if you still don't know, I will give you a list
- feeding everyone in the house
- paying bills (hydro, heating, taxes, gas, medical, etc.)
- working every day ( weekdays, Mon, Tues, WedW, Thu, Fri, Sat.)
- drive you around town ( school, breakfast, lunch, dinner, class.)
- chores ( wash dishes, clean, make your bed, etc.)
And this is only a shortened list there is actually a longer list than this, and if this small list is already a lot for you then you really need to acknowledge your parents, more and more every daye.

This week, Tuesday, I saw a young man in his early 20s that had passed out on the sidewalk on gremlin street and I was walking home alone and as soon as I tried to make contact with the man I knew he was not able to speak and I immediately ran to my neighbour's house and I told them about the man and the called 9-1-1 and no later than 5 minutes the Vancouver fire department and ambulance services sent trained personnel to assist us in waking the man and soon he awoke to being yelled at by a firefighter, and after 1 minute we were dismissed by the fire department!

But most of all I can not thank my parent enough for the great care I have received from them!

Have you ever actually thanked your parents for something that seems very normal? Well, now it's the time.

For my PAR, I cleaned up most of my living room table because it is somehow very messy. Like cows stampeded messy. So, I told my parents to take a break while I cleaned up, and they were very proud. Mostly because it took me quite a while to clean it up. I know that in a few weeks, it will be messy, but I don't care. I can just clean it again.

In conclusion, you should thank your parents for taking care of you these first 11/12/13 years and help them out around the house a bit in order to tell them you are thankful.

Though, for your hook/introductory paragraph, I think you can elaborate and explain why it is important to help out and thank your parents. This will certainly improve your writing a lot. Other than that, I really enjoyed reading this!

You are so annoying. Please stop telling me this! I already know this! I believe everyone must have been thinking of this to your parents. I understand sometimes, they are extremely annoying, like a mosquito is flying around you. And at this moment, you want to leave this place, or to tell your parents to, "Shut up!" But before you do something mean to your parents. Think about who are they. They are your parents, not your teachers, not your friends, or your peers. They are your parents, you must have to respect them. In any moment. Even though, they did something bad to you. Even though they are on the wrong side. You are still their child. "Respect".

At this moment, when you want to disagree with me. Think about, who created you. If your parents don't even want to create you. You are not even in this world, not even here and reading my paragraph. Even though you think they always punish you or annoyed you. But the thing is. Every day, they take care of you since you were born. They never blame anyone. You have to know your parents use their life to create you.

I just want to say, family day is not just how your parents acknowledge you or how they do anything to you. It is the exact opposite, you have to do something for them.

In my own opinion, at the moment when you were born, every day is “family day”. "Family day" is for how you look about it. The day that you have to think about what you have to do to your parents. The day you have to thank them. Not just say, "Thank you" from your mouth. You have to say, "Thank you" from your action. Do something for them.

I do house works every day. Today, I did more than just house works. I help out to clean my new house. I am going to move to another house in about a month. We went there, and I clean the table and help out to wipe the windows. Sometimes just think of how can you do something for your parents, like making a card for them. The thing is, you have to respect them. To be tolerable, comprehensive, or inclusive.

Never count how you prove them you did something good for them. Because you will never win of counting the good things you do. Your parents do everything for you. Even their life. Your parents are your everything. So, in "Family day" do anything you think you can do. Just do something for your parents to let them know. You are a respectful child.

RRRREEEEEEEEEEEE. I just finished my table tennis matches that took 11 hours. (Not over exaggerating, it actually took from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.) I thanked them for staying and watching for 11 hours and there just like, 无需感谢，毕竟你赢得了所有的活动！你的奖牌太重了。你也得到了这么多的评价！

Do you ever thank your parents or anyone when they are doing something that seems very normal? They might already know you appreciate them, but it’s always nice to remind them. :)

I am thankful for my parents for doing so much for me every day. Today I cleaned the living room, which my mom usually does. I’m sure my mom cleans the living room every day, but somehow by the end of the week or by a couple of days, it gets messy again. My mom was very happy, giving her more time to relax or do other things that needed to be done.

In conclusion, there are many people that I need to acknowledge especially my family. Doing things like this will show that I am thankful.

I sometimes thank my parents when I think deeper. I sometimes think of that they gave me shelter, food and an opportunity to go to school and other classes. If I were alone, I would of been dead long ago. But since I have my family, I survived and had a good life. When I thank them, they usually say "It's okay.", or "no need to thank."

I mostly just do my bed everyday but in these days for example Monday I do my bed and then have to pack up my launch for the day for school and that’s aboit it. Then in Tuesday I weak up and do my bed then eat breakfast after I eat breakfast I go and pack up again and then get t school. At Wednesday’s I just do my bed and do the same thing again and go to school and I also have lessons after school but that’s about what I do at Wednesday’s. At Thursday I just do the same thing again but sometimes I have to clean the dishes if I’m the last person to finish lunch. Then at Friday’s I do the same thing but at Saturday and Sunday I don’t do my bed so when the day is over I just go to bed and Monday’s just starts over.

I think I have never thanked my parents for some normal things before! Have you? Ummmm, what are the normal things they do for me every day?

After I read today's P.A.R, I started to think about some normal things around me that I have never care about, like wash the dishes, clean the house, make me study or drive me to my classes. So I decided to do something for my family. What did I do? I wrote a thank you card for my parents and make them to go outside and do stuff, after they gone, I started to make a lunch for my parents and clean the house. It took me a really long time to do those things that my parents usually do for me, it's so hard to make a lunch, I mean a good lunch and it is hard to clean the whole house in one day!

After my parents came home, they are shock, they can't believe this is their house any more, everything is clean and their are so many food on the table, and they read my thank you card. When we were eating lunch, they asked me: why would do clean the house and make lunch for use? It is hard to explain so I show them the P.A.R!!!!!!!

In conclusion, I think I never care about the little things that my parents did to us, I think it is easy to do all those stuff, but after I try to do it all by myself, I change my old wrong opinion, I think children cannnot live without their parents to do those little things.

Did you agree many of us don’t seem to say thank you to our family that often than we say to others? Looks like it becomes pretty natural for our parents to take care of us. Yet this weekend, I remember and acknowledged to my family for taking good care of me. Unlike some of your family members do, my mom firstly act like “Oh that’s sweet, thank you!” On top of that, my words reminded her how late it is and I haven’t done my work. P.s, par, science, and art, plus taking shower and all those stuff before getting for bed. My mom suddenly forgot that heartwarming moment and started yelling at me with such good reason (basketball practice, to wake up at 6, snowing outside) that makes me shut up right away.

Anyhow, we have to remember to acknowledge our family as we do to others!

Thank you is an important word to say to your parents. They help and support us in our activities.

For my P.A.R, I cleaned the study room where my siblings and me do our homework or play on the computer. Also I put the wet clothes from the washer into the dryer and fold the fresh clothes from dryer. My mom was pleased and happy for helping her out with the things that need to be done. She said “less work for me to do”.

In conclusion, we should be thankful for our parents.

Have you ever acknowledged your family for all that they've done for you? I haven't much, so I would like to thank my family for helping me. Your family probably helps you, but it seems so ordinary like the everyday stuff you would do that you don't really thank them that much. But having to clean the house, cook food and entertain you every single day is pretty hard if you think about it. I'm not saying that I am completely useless and I don't do anything, because I actually do chores and help out around the house, just not that much. So take this opportunity and thank and acknowledge your family.

I always look up to my parents because of how they raise me effectively. However, I found it annoying when they repeatedly pounded into my mind every single day the things that I should do. I started to understand how important it is to listen and appreciate them in my own little way.

First and foremost during the weekends I always help my parents do the choirs such as vacuuming the entire house, washing the dishes likewise cleaning the table after we eat. In addition to that, I helped in unloading the groceries and put them in the designated place. Moreover, assisting my parents and doing the errands make them happier because it lightens their load.

I am very happy to help them because I could appreciation from their faces and happier than me. My sister and I used to write appreciation cards during their birthdays and they would reward us by giving hugs and kisses.

In conclusion, it is very essential to be able to appreciate our parents like I did because it one way of showing love and respect to them. My parents teach me things life cannot and one way to show that I'm grateful is by letting them feel proud of raising me to be a good son.

Our parents may at times seem like "Demons", but it should be known that they do care about you, if they didn't they would be abusing you our they would have simply stopped caring. Many children fail to realize how much they mean to their caretakers, and sometimes they should stop and appreciate them. If you were without good parents, your life could be similar to a hellhole. It is sometimes necessary to stop and take time to show how much you really appreciate what your parents have done for you. I decided to do that and help around the house, and they seemed to appreciate it.

I decided to do some extra cleaning and give my mother the rest that she requires, she works so hard and everyday I can see the pure exhaustion in her eyes, so this was the least I could do. I asked her if she wanted to eat anything and she said some rice with curry, so I prepared that while she used the bathroom. By the end of it she gave a very genuine thank you. After that I knew that I did something good, and I want to do more for her in the future.

Another small thing I did for my parents was make them cappuccinos, while my dad was eating his food, I made a cappuccino and he seemed to really like it. I gave some to everyone in my family and they all said they liked it, so I plan to make more in the future.

Woah! It's quite the sight to look outside this weekend huh?

Today, the snow started very heavily outside since noon. We'll talk more about that later but right now, I'm going to talk about my family. Family members are one of the most important things to me. Without them, I'd be practically alone. My parents raised me! I wouldn't be where I am right now if it weren't for them. I live three other people in my house and the rest of my family is in China but I go back to visit them every summer. We're all overall, very close. Right now, I'd want to acknowledge my dad. He's a very loving and caring person who's extremely successful in his work and at home. I am very grateful for everything he's ever given me and I hope I could be just as successful as him when I'm older. I usually help out around the house by vacuuming the second floor of our house and cleaning my room every time it gets messy. As a lot may know, I'm an artist so my desk is constantly being piled up with art supplies. When that happens, I just like to clear out everything I don't need from my DRAWers (I'm sorry). Today I was going to help clear the sidewalk outside my house from the snow but I ended up going inside and just doing my workout routine after dinner since I desperately needed to use the bathroom at the time and I was nearly dying from the cold. Next time when it snows, I'll help clear the pathway.

Overall, today I just wanted to acknowledge my dad for how caring he is and point out some of these chores I do around the house.

I love my family so much.

They have helped me so much so far in my life, and I know they will always be there for me. Especially my Dad. He the most caring person I know. I will always love him for what he has done to our family to make it what it is now. He has always worked, played the bills, cleaned, and etc for this house and family. He has put so much love into helping our family that words couldn’t even describe how much I love him. I also like to acknowledge my Mom for always believing in me! When I was sad or depressed she was always there for me, and I know she will always be there for me.

Since I don’t have any brothers or sisters, I’m kind of lonely at times. I don’t mean it like that, it’s just my cousins are always going to be there for me too. I love every side of my family. Even if there are some parts of my family that could be rude at times, I still love them as much as I love everyone else.

ummm i don't think i really have anyone to acknowledge in my family cause except for meals i take care of everything else myself. well except paying the rent of course. but other than that i do most other things myself such as biking to dance. I clean up after myself and most of the times do my homework without any reminders. but someone that is not in my family that i acknowledge a lot is Morgan. i met her through Scouts Canada. but since she is two years older than me so she had to move up from Cubs to Scouts. but now that i have also moved to scouts we can hangout more often. and i don't know hoe she doe it but she always seems to brighten my day!
this weekend i comforted her over text about her grandfather who died about 2 weeks ago. it has been a tough time but she still always has a smile on her face. i am grateful that i met her because she amazing in every way!

For me i would thank my mom because she have to live her own Company in China and come over to Canada for have a year and she help me a lots of tomw on the math that I don’t know. I need to thank her but I all ways make her made and she sometimes just shout at me but I know that she did all of this because of me not doing my work•••and yes I need to thanks her alot on help me thank you

I am extremely grateful for my family.

This weekend I have been very sick. My mom has been taking care of me this week. Most of the time I usually take care of myself by looking after my spaces and managing my own time. But lately, It's like my energy has been drained from my body. I have been in bed for the last two days and I have been recovering, slowly but surely. I have thanked my mom and she responded with a hug. Even though sometimes my family can seem unreasonable or overprotective, I love them to the moon and back.
