Today, we had incredible weather! The amount of precipitation was amazing! The changing weather patterns shows us that climate change is definitely upon us. We should always think about what we can do for the environment to help take care of it better. Students had their pre-test for Word Work today, learned proper setting technique in PE, learned about converting fractions, and continued their inquiry projects in Social Studies.
IMPORTANT:
1.) MATH: It is extremely important that you mark/correct your work

2.) PICTURE RETAKES: Dress appropriately tomorrow. Photo retakes!

1.) LA/READING: Read for 30 min and log.

LEARNING INTENTION: I can explain how the inquiry process works during our library inquiry sessions.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) PARAGRAPH FORMAT: intro/body/conclusion
2.) BODY: Include all stages that Mr. Fisher discussed in today's lesson. For your supporting
examples, be sure to provide an example of what you might do in each stage. For example,
what do you do in your knowledge building circles, in your immerse stage, etc.
3.) GIVENS/CONVENTIONS: Check your work for spelling, capitals, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure.
4.) SELF-ASSESSMENT: Check to make sure you have mentioned all stages/phases of the
inquiry process in your paragraph.
5.) PEER-FEEDBACK: Give 2 students feedback. Let them know if they forgot to mention a
phase or if they forgot to explain a phase of the inquiry process.
6.) EDIT/REVISE: Post a revised version. Also, post one sentence on what you changed after
your revised paragraph.

Inquiry what is it?

Inquiry is basically a session where the 7th grades class join in the library and bring our big questions like how does a killer whale hunt or how did the first human came to space.Then do 5 things to get the big question a deeper level of understanding and thinking witch is the legend,sub questions,answers to the sub questions,sources,and reaction.Then later on when your doing all of this you'll get very useful feedback from adults but you could ask a friend or a person in your group for help/feedback then use it.Finally at the end when time is up you meet up with your group,talk about what you did ,rate how much work you did.Also clean up like it was or cleaner.this is what I think iquiry is about

Make sure you add punctuations when typing and also make sure that you put a space after a period.
Also, the sentence “how does a killer whale hunt or how did the first human came to space.” You should put “how does a killer whale hunt and how much does it hunt or how was the first human able to get to space?”. Because I think that sentence didn’t really make alot of sense when I was trying to read it but overall good job Iker.

Inquiry process. What IS an inquiry process? Well, there’s 4 stages of then such as, having a good understanding to the problem/questions, creating a plan, looking back and reflection and asking yourself questions. By using these 4 different processes, you can come up with various questions with them as well for an example: “whys the earth round”? When you ask these type of questions, you want to make sure that they’re able to be answered, and realistic questions.

How do you inquire? That is an inquiry question. This can be easily searched up and have an answer. But you need all the stages of inquiry before you find your answer. Firstly you have to start with immersing. Immersing is the stage where you brainstorm ideas about what your inquiry question will be. Secondly you should coalesce. When you coalesce you come up with your sub-questions. Sub-questions will help you learn more about your subject and help you find the answer. For example, if your inquiry question was "Are spiders bugs?" Some of your side-questions could be:
1) Why do spiders have 8 legs?
2) Would spiders eat other spiders? If so why?
3) How does a spider see with 8 eyes? Does it look like a kaleidoscope?
4) Why does a spider wrap its prey in a blanket of webbing if it caught its prey in its web?
These are examples of sub-questions for the coalescing stage. Lastly you are ready to go public. Going public is when you have all your information all gathered up and show all of it in the form of a powerpoint presentation or a speech. That is the three stages to inquiry. I hope you can use this information to inquire, find your answer, and share it.

Feedback - Yeah I agree with the other people, add more detail!!! It would be better if you added more examples so that its much more comprehensible. If you can't remember, I recommend looking at other people's paragraphs so that you could gain knowledge from it, and if you do happen to do that, make sure that you don't plagiarize anything.

What is inquiry process? There are 4 things when you are doing inquiry process. You build your background knowledge and using your background knowledge. And also choose a question that is possible to answer that is new. You will also get sub-questions like for example you want to know about locks and your sub-questions mit be like. How do locks work? How where locks made? Who crated locks? Those are sub-questions and lastly sharing your questions with others and they can give you questions that you never thanked of and you can us it. But before finding the answer, there are required steps to find the answer in an easy way. The first step to do is to immerse. The definition of immerse is about brainstorming your ideas of your question which makes you build some background knowledge as many of you know what the meaning of this word is. Background knowledge means that you are trying to find some topics/answers for your question. We can try forming a knowledge building circle to share about what you learned with your group or partner. The second step of inquiry is coalesce. Sub questions are basically small questions that helps you find the answer more easily if you have a question like this: “What is the Vancouver Skytrain?” You have to create 3-5 small questions and it could be:

These are the stages for inquiry.

First you meet up with your knowledge building circles and discuss what you are going to do today. Is it take notes on my big question, is it reread all my notes. After that write it in your daily work plan and get it signed by your knowledge building circle. Second go and do what you wrote in the daily work plan. ( probably take notes ). Third you should go back and meet up with your knowledge building Circle and share what you did today and some facts about your question. After that go to your teachers and give them a zero meaning = I need help next time, +1 meaning = I am OK come and check in with me sometimes, +2 meaning = I don’t need any help I am good maybe check in with me after you check in with everyone. That is what I know.

I might have missed some because I wasn’t here for the last two days.

@Ashleigh For the PAR, we need to explain what the 4 parts of inquiry are and give examples of what we do in each stage. Right now in the inquiry process, we are researching and INVESTIGATING. If you look at the inquiry handout, there are the four stages at the top to give some pointers. Hope this helps :)

Feedback - With the sentence, "this is the stage where you take all your notes and all your research and present it." There isn't really anything wrong with it, its just that I would prefer if you wrote it this way: "This is the stage where you present all of your notes and research." (I couldn't tell if your "research", word was a noun or a verb, but I took it as a noun.)

Researching is one of the most fundamental things about knowledge, to gain information for discoveries, or to learn new things. And with research, one must start to inquire, curiosity is the foundation of research. Think of it, how do you think the device you're holding was invented? A question. Specifically Alex Graham, the inventor of the first telephone, which evolved into the device that we call mobile cell phones. Inquiry involves steps, the first being immersion, a simple first step to immerse into making more background knowledge, brainstorming questions, and to kinda get a feel of it. I myself, would create minimal, non difficult questions I would ask myself from time to time, for example, I'd say how do televisions work? How do sound vibrations work? Or how do nutrients from vegetables help? These small questions can help you gain background knowledge and help you inquire for more difficult questions later on. Step 2, known as coalesce is like a flight of stairs climbing up to the top floor, or in this case, it's small sub questions leading to the main question that answers it all. For instance, my question could be how do sound vibrations work? To lead up to this question, sub questions can be:
1) What are sound vibrations?
2) How are sound vibrations created?
3) Why can sound vibrations be loud or soft?
These sub questions are structured beams to support the big question. Investigating is one of the last steps left in inquiry, and the most important too. Investigating involves all last 2 steps to include. Investigating, obviously means researching in a cooler way, but investigating is still an important step, investigating can have different ways to research, like books about a topic you're questioning or researching on the web. And finally, going public. This last step means to, well go public. Either it's a presentation, or a paper going public just means to show your final result of your inquiry, to learn new things, and of course, to inquire.

How to start your inquiry? There are stages to start your inquiry. The first stage is wonder, you will have to think of a question to inquire about and want to know more about. The second stage is to create sub questions, and go deeper in to thinking. Then, you start investigating to find out more about your questions and answer them and find evidence to proof you are right. Lastly, going public, it means to share and present what you learn with your peers and your class, therefore other people would also learn something new.

Knowledge building circle.
Knowledge building circle are people in a group that is inquiring about similar questions that you have. Before sharing you result with the class, it would be better to start off in your knowledge building circle to build background knowledge, get and give feedback and improve your work.

Inquiry is another word for research. There is a whole process and a few steps to complete it and move on. You start off with one question and than you expand the understanding of it with many smaller related and supporting question or answers. A big question would be something like "How are water bottles decomposed?" and than you start researching about it and breaking down information into smaller notes which will connect you to your next stage.The next stage is where you make a diagram of the big notes and small notes and separate them into 2 different sections. Examples for supporting questions would be like "Do the water bottles go to the land fill? "Are water bottles reused normally?" . These would be your sub questions and they should connect to your topic/question. The final stage would be to investigate and find more sources to find information about your main question. Such as a book, a magazine, a newspaper, ect. This leaves you to the end, where you gather all of your information and notes and create something creative with it all such as a powerpoint presentation. Your presentation will explain all your information and help others understand the process of inquiry.

We hear the word inquiry a lot at school, what does it mean, and what are the steps to inquire? Inquiry means the act of seeking information that answers questions about a topic you are wondering about and finding ou the answer to that question. Four words that describe inquiry are, immersion, investigation, coalesce, sharing. The first step of inquiry is to immerse. Immersion is to be curious about something and in other words, to wonder about something. You can build background knowledge and find different topics you want to study about, this can include making a wonder list, or discussing it with your peers. You want to immerse yourself in the topic so that you are interested to learn more about it. You can also form a knowledge-building group to discuss and share your ideas and exchange ideas about each other's topics. After immersing, the next step is to investigate, this is when you want to search for the answer to your question. It's also essential to make sub-questions, subquestions are the question that leads up to your big question. It's a lot easier to find the answer to your big question once you've answered all of your sub-questions. Investigating is the main part of inquiry, it doesn't mean that the other parts are not important, it just means that investigating will take up most of your time. Also, make sure that you take notes when you are investigating and share them with your group at the end of every session what you've learned. Next, coalescing is the second last stage of inquiry, coalescing means analyzing all the data and notes you've taken, which means you only start coalescing when you have finished all your research and investigation. You also need to filter out what's important and what is not that important and put all the important notes together. You should be able to find the answer to your big question after you've analyzed all your notes. Finally, the last stage or step of inquiry is sharing. Now that you've analyzed all your notes and found the answer to your question, make sure to share everything with your knowledge-building group. The one main reason to share with your group what you've learned is so it can increase their background knowledge too. You can do this by making a PowerPoint presentation, making a poster, or simply sharing your notes. These are the steps of inquiry, make sure you follow them to get a good mark for inquiry. Today, we did an inquiry with division 2 in the library.
if you're doing an inquiry there are four stages you will need to remember them. Inquiry is another word for question. There are four stages will need to trembler while doing your inquiry. It might help you to improve your inquiry. the words are immerse, investigate, coalesce and go public. Immerse is like making your background knowledge. Investigate is like checking your work like researching about it.. Coalesce is formed together and goes to your groups. Going public is like what you're worked on. Sharing what you learned. My group and I sat together during inquiry time. Before that we have to sign a paper is like a log sheet were your group mates need to sign it and tell what are you gonna search for or what will you do. After that you will get your devices and start your work. After that you will need to meet your group mates again. to share what you learned during inquiry. And sanitize your device and clean up. Go to the teachers and tell what your number was +0 or +1 or +2. +0 means you need help with you work. +1 means you need help but not really if only the teachers have time. +2 means you don't need help with your work you're all good!

FEEDBACK: There are some grammar mistakes. For example, "There are four stages will need to *trembler* while doing your inquiry". Not sure what trembler means. The sentence "Going public is like what you're worked on." doesn't really make sense. There are a couple more, so keep an eye out while re-reading.
FEEDBACK 2: The stages are a bit off. Here is just a basic explanation.
Stage 1: Immerse. To help you ask questions and strengthen your BK. Eg. making a wonder list.
Stage 2: Investigate. Researching, making sub questions, etc.

Afterwards we also sign 0, +1, or +2 on both our individual sheets and the class sheet to keep track of our progress. When you think you have collected enough notes if you are doing a project (can be in multiple sessions), you should go through stage three before stage four. Inquiry is always a big part of our life, even though it seems very easy but we still have to learn it because it will build up your background knowledge and really effect peoples' life. Everything have a process, so as inquiry. The inquiry process is process that you will do research ask questions and build your background knowledge. Simply there are four steps, the first step will be finding a list of questions that you are very interested in. The second step will be setting your big question and sub questiond which leads to your big question. The third step will be the biggest step, research you're sub questions and get your answer for the big question. The final step will be sharing what you learned with a pair and learning from others. Here is an example of inquiry, in these few days I started inquiry project about how does a light bulb work and how does a light bulb work will be my big question. My sub question will be some questions related to the big question and will help me to solve the big question, and what I wrote is: what is the material inside a light bulb, the invention of a light bulb, how does electric goes in the bulb and what does the code on the light bulb mean? After setting my questions I did a lot of research and then after each period of research I grouped up with my knowledge building circle and share what I learned. We should always do inquiry be curious and always feel free to ask questions.

Because of this, I had to investigate the main question in order to get my sub-questions, though this was a good idea to do, since my inquiry gained a much more complete feeling. One other stage I will go over is with the term, coalesce. It means to come together, and an example for that was when we needed to join our inquiry groups. Feedback: Some of your sentences were a bit wordy with lots of commas, so with those sentences you can separate them into two. For example, the sentence " Today, we were able to move on to the second step, investigation, but what exactly do these steps mean?" could be split into two: "Today, we were able to move on to the second step, investigation. But what exactly do these steps mean?" or something like that.

We inquire everyday, and it's such an essential part of life, not only because it provides us with more knowledge, but it would also improve our background knowledge of it. Classes Division 1 and 2 recently partook in inquiry sessions, and with Mr. Fisher as our teacher to guide us of what is expected, we were able to figure out the stages for our inquisition process. Immerse, investigate, and to coalesce. Today, we were able to move on to the second step, investigation. But what exactly do these steps mean? Starting off with the term, immerse, it has something to do with catching someone's attention, so if you wanted to immerse yourself into something, it could be a book, or some sort of work assignment. Within our knowledge building circles, we used devices to jot down information based on our inquiry question, and for that time-being, we were immersed into our work due to our questions. Now that we've met the first step, we could move onto the next step, investigate. Investigation is the act of observing, or to examine something closely. For instance, my main inquiry question was too small of a question, mainly because the question would be able to be answered within 2 - 3 sentence. Because of this, I had to investigate the main question in order to get my sub-questions, though this was a good idea to do, since my inquiry gained a much more complete feeling. One other stage I'll go over is with the term, coalesce. It means to come together, and an example for that was when we needed to join our inquiry groups. Of course, you'd also need to share your mini inquiry project to others, and this should contribute to your work, because you could add other questions that were asked by other students. These few steps were essential for the inquiry project, and I think it will be much easier when you use these steps for upcoming projects in the future.

It’s something that’s very important to us to help us more with our background knowledge and gives us more knowledge. For the past few weeks, division 1 and divison 2 have been working in the library together to do inquiry, and Mr. Fisher taught us the four steps that we should learn to for our inquiry. Immerse, investigate, coalesce, and to go public. What do they mean though? Immerse is basically asking questions and building more of your background knowledge. Investigate is the stage where you do most of your research, you can branch off some sub-questions that go along with the main question you picked in the first stage. Third, we have coalesce. Coalesce is the stage where you bring all you information and notes together and try to find the “big idea” and answer the main question you’ve wrote down. Lastly, going public, going public is when you share everything you’ve gathered up to everyone. You can do a slideshow, poster, or maybe even a video. In conclusion, I think these four steps will help me with inquiry in the future.

How does the process of inquiry work there are 3 main things that tell us how to do inquiry, and ill tell you what they are 1.immerse this stage is pretty much just showing you what to start off with if you know what i mean so your just getting a feel and improving background knoledge.
2. investigating this is pretty much doing all the research writining down notes all that. 3. colesing is pretty much just finising it up and bringing it all together. now you know the steps to inquiry.

Research, delving, exploration, investigation etc. These are the words which describe inquiry, by the way do you know what inquiry means? Inquiry means seeking or request for truth, information, or knowledge for a big question. There're 3 stages of inquiry. Firstly, is a question that is easy to answer in a few or some words. For example, how are black holes formed? Secondly, You ask questions which are related to the questions which is called a sub questions for example, how many dead stars will it take to form a black hole? Thirdly, Your have to show you understanding by using diagrams, drawing, colour codes etc. Tip: you have to very organized when you do inquiry if you messed up once, you will be confused. This is whay inquriy means.

I have checked and met the criteria and requirements.

Inquiry is a really important in everyone's life. Inquiry is when you question about something, and you are so desperate for the answer, you research about it until you get the answer. Sometimes when you are researching you might even get more questions in your mind as you are trying to figure out another. Today I would be talking about the steps of inquiry. First of all, wonder. You kept on wondering things that you don't already know about then suddenly, a thought came to your mind and you want to answer that thought. Secondly, you research. You were so desperate to know the answer to your thought that you started searching for answers on the internet, you got your answers from some websites that you trust with your back ground knowledge. Then you use your back ground knowledge and add it to your research to get your answer. Last but not least, start over again. Start wondering about things that you really wants to know the answer to. And these are the steps to complete one inquiry.
