REMEMBRANCE DAY

Canada is one of the only countries that has a Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. You likely learned a lot about this in Gr. 6. We would not have these rights and freedoms if people did not fight fight them! Today is a day of remembrance. A day to recognize and remember those who fought for our country so that we could live in peace, harmony, and not in fear of being persecuted against for the colour of your skin, religion, gender, etc. I feel so lucky to have been born and raised in this wonderful country! We owe this to those who fought for these rights! Take a moment of silence today and pay homage and respect to them today!

IMPORTANT:
1.) No school today. It is Remembrance day!

1.) MATH: Pg. 74-75 must be completed, marked, and corrected by Thursday. We will go over any misunderstandings on Thursday during class.

Another reason that I think we should wear a poppy. The group that distributes the poppies (red) is called Legion. Legion uses the money that we donate to get a poppy to help veterans have a better life. I think that after all the things that they have done for us, I think that they deserve the best life we can possibly give them. Last but not least, poppies boost remembrance. When people see you walking around with a bright red poppy, it will remind them that Remembrance Day is coming, and to get a poppy and remember. This also shows what you are thinking. If you respect the soldiers and remember them, you are more likely to wear a poppy. Remembrance Day ceremonies happen all over Canada on the eleventh day of the eleventh month at the eleventh minute of the eleventh month. This year, due to COVID-19, Remembrance Ceremonies are on the news. So even if you are sleeping until past eleven, you can watch a recording later. The poppy is a sign of remembrance for the fallen soliders who served and died in WW2. It was when on 11th month on the 11th day and the 11th hour that the war was won. The solider that was in a cemetery where the Canadian soliders who fought in the war where buried there. His name was John McCrae, he saw the red poppies that grew near the graves of the soliders, then he wrote the poem that was called "in Flanders fields". It was a poem about the soliders who fought and served in the war and their resting places that had red poppies growing around their graves. It soon became a poem that was known all across Canada. We wear a red poppy in remembrance of all the fallen soliders and those who served in the army. Those who wear a poppy respect the Canadian soliders who fought and died in the war. 🇨🇦

And even there are lots of colors to poppies, we wear red because it represents all of the sacrifices to make us safe. Remembrance Day was created from Canada and it’s a day to remember and appreciate all the people that have died for our country and fight for us. Remembrance Day is to honor the people that have sacrificed their lives to give us a better future, if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be here and maybe Canada quite LITERALLY wouldn’t be here. Time is precious, if anyone of the fallen soldiers had 2 more minutes than they could have said they loved their family, look at what means the most to them, etc. Poppies are the symbol for the first world war as each poppy represents a human from the military that died. Poppies were used because poppies grew on the battlefield after ww1 ended, the pins are now made of red fabric to represent a poppy. It makes me realize how quickly we could just leave this world, one second ago you could be smiling and the next you could be shot in the head. It actually reminds me how the poem ‘In Flanders Field’ said “Short days ago we lived, we felt dawn, saw sunset glow, loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders Field.” But no matter what, Remembrance Day is a day to honor all the people that sacrificed themselves and being grateful that we live in a much better world because of them.

Have you ever thought of why we need to wear a poopy on Remembrance Day and why people chose this flower as the symbol? Well, when world war 2 started, thousands of Canadian solders where either severely injured or died after the war. When the war was finally over, thousands of poppies grew all over the war zone. That is why we wear a poopy every November 11 to remember all the sacrifices that they made for us. We also stay silent at 11 am to honor and respect all the veteran who died to make Canada a free country! During this time, you may see some donation box to the veteran because we are trying to help all the survivors feels safe and help them forget all the bad memories that they had. I think that I am really lucky to live in such a peaceful and safe country!

Well, if you didn't know, November 11 is a day where we remember and honor all the veteran who sacrificed there lives to make Canada a better place! Remembrance Day started when the World War 2 ended, the whole battle field was filled with beautiful red poppies! That's why, after people found that the poppies grew all over the battle field, many people started wearing red poppies on top of there heart to remember and honor the veterans! We wear poppies because poppies grown in flanders field (i don't know if thats a place or a poem or both) after the war ended and it someone by the name of John Mcrea made a poem called: In ned Flanders field. It was a very good poem but he thought that poem was trash. Until someone else picked it up and thought it was good and spread the word (or poem) around and John Mcrea decided to like it after it got popular. (I think it was ruined by little kids singing or saying the poem)

One way of expressing gratitude wearing a poopy, another way is to participate in the 2-minute silence to remember the soldiers that died. There were over 40 million casualties in WW1 and almost 10 times as much during WW2. It is our job to keep the legacy that the deceased soldiers left behind, it is our job to keep the peace.

We thank and give back to those fought in their service to protect our country on November 11th. The red poppy that we wear signals our gratefulness for everything that our brave veterans fought for. As generations pass on, the legacy does too, we must work together and keep our country a safe and happy place to live in.

The big idea of Remembrance Day is to remember all the people that sacrificed themselves for our country. They represented acts of heroism and yet only some receive recognition. What you ever heard of Remembrance Day? Well today I am going to tell you about it! Remembrance Day (Known as veterans' day in America) is on Nov 11th, where at 11am, we have a minute of silence to remember those men and woman. The big idea of Remembrance Day is to remember all the people that sacrificed themselves for our country. They represented acts of heroism and yet only some receive recognition. They are the ones who fought in the war (WW1 and WW2). So, we need to remember those who sacrificed them self's who gave us freedom and a chance to live today.

What is so special about the day November 11th? Why do we have to wear poppies? November 11th is remembrance day, the day we honour all those people who risked their lives so we might live. I am so grateful that we can feel safe and be with our families. We don't need to worry and fear all the time about a bomb or invasion. We can represent that by wearing a poppy. You may be wondering why is it just some random flower? Well, as the war ended poppies grew all over Flanders fields symbolizing the blood from the people who died and peace!

Did you have any family members who was in the war or is a veteran? I don't but a lot of people did. It's sad to think about war, especially when someone starts it, you can't stop. Nothing can stop it unless one faction wins or signs a peace treaty with some losses like when Japan was basically "colonized". The soldiers that fought the wars had to stay in dirty trenches, filled with rats and disease, all while death wandering by with their every step. Red poppies are for remembering all the wars that soldiers fought for us to make the world peaceful. We often only think of the war generals and the dictators, but we never think about all the lives who sacrificed their lives to fight it. I think the big idea of the red poppy is to symbolize the people who fought in war and the ones who died in it. Soldiers were brutally killed with chemicals, gun fire, bomb shells, traps, etc. We all hope that peace will stop this madness, but ISIS and the Yemen wars are still going on. We won't stop fighting, but we can prevent it. It's just like a vaccine, we don't have a cure for the flu, but we do have a vaccine for it. We live in peace here in Canada thanks to all the soldiers who fought for peace, family and victory. Don't think the Germans are bad though. Even though they were the enemy, they all also had soldiers who were forced to fight. Peace is a thing that we take for granted and don't notice, but at this day, we can all remember the things that all the lives lost did. So next time you see a veteran, say thank you for their hard work and determination to bring peace to this world.

Do you know why we wear poppies on Remembrance day? This is because after the first world war everyone thought that the world would never recover, but then in a field a lot of poppies started growing. The reason Remembrance day is on November 11th is because that’s when the first world war ended. The money we pay for the poppies goes to veterans (people who are retired soldiers)

Remembrance Day is a holiday celebrated in many different countries. During this day, we wear bright red poppies to remember and honour those who sacrificed their lives to fight for their countries and ultimately bring all of us peace. Poppies became the symbol of this event thanks to a powerful and famous poem called "In Flanders Fields", by WW1 veteran John McCrae. The big idea of remembrance day is definitely acknowledging and recognizing what people all around the world had to go through because of the terrible conditions of war, so it doesn't happen again. Ensuring major world wars do not ever happen again is incredibly important, and remembrance day plays a massive role in doing so.

There is a important day every year in Canada, we call it "Remembrance Day" this day is some what like ThanksGiving day but its kinda much sadder. Why? Because Remembrance Day is the day we cry for all those people that sacrficed themselves for our country today: Canada, so today we come to feel sorrow for all those people, because if it wasnt for them, there wouldn't be some of us here today, right this second.
