Space....the Next Frontier!

Space Books thanks to Mr. Redican!

Today, we brainstormed what it looks like to take notes. The students drew concept maps and wrote down some note-taking tips. The students quickly realized they were using their 'NOVEL APPROACH' strategies to find what was important in the online readings. The example readings we used in class to take notes included the 'UNIVERSE' page and the 'GALAXY' page on this website.

1.) MATH: Complete any unfinished worksheets.

2.) LA: Any unfinished Novel Approach work.

3.) SCIENCE: If you want to learn more about Space on your own, click here and work through the lessons.

4.) POST A RESPONSE:

Visit this website.
Read through the 'UNIVERSE' section and watch the video clips on all 4 pages. There are 4 separate UNIVERSE pages. After reading one page, YOU MUST CLICK ON 'NEXT PAGE ON UNIVERSE'.
TODAY'S POST A RESPONSE WILL TAKE TIME!
Take brief notes on each UNIVERSE PAGE. Only include important information. Don't forget to use the tips you learned about today on note-taking.
Use the proper headings in your notes that you post. (You and the Universe, Did Anyone Hear a Big Bang, The Current Thinking, etc) After writing notes for each section, press enter to separate them by a space. This helps orgnize your notes neatly.
Keep your notes short. Point form is acceptable as long as it makes sense.
Give one student suggestions on what they can add to their notes.
Edit/revise your original post.

The Universe: Firtstly according to scientists started with a big bang "KA BOOM" my opinion is that it is false. How can some thing that is ment to Destroy things aka explosions make something. Anyway back on topic. The universe has gravitational forces which keeps everything in place and order kind of like the law, but gracity only exists when one object attracts another. It happens when one object is pulling on the molecules of another object. For example the moons gravity makes our tides rise and fall. In space it's a vacuum are absolutely nothing because there is no air. In space there is this stuff called dark matter and dark energy. That is all there. But if you were to hold your hand out there would be nothing. In conclusion in space the pressure is so incredible it can crush a submarine and su marines cam go real deep

The universe
Started off with the big bang which I believe was the first time cells collided and after that a lot is unknown. Human do know a little bit on how it happened but that not the main focus today. It created
Galaxies which are stars or suns like ours. The Milky Way Galaxy is the only known spiral galaxy which look at the universe its like a spiral. We live on a planet called earth which is very tiny compared to Jupiter or the Sun. They're a infinite world out they're and were stuck on a little planet for now until we start going out into space.

Now lets talk about Gravity
Gravity is the weakest force known to man and its what keeps us on earth so we don't just fly off. Gravity is one of the reasons why most planets are like a sphere. Spheres make it so were always the same distance from the core of the planet. Now you must be like
"What about light stuff and heavy things that drop faster then the rest?" For light the AIR help slow down impact and the reason heavy stuff drops is because it Break air so it doesn't get lifted.

We finished about gravity how about we go to something more "complicated?" Ok lets go over to energy!
Energy can be a wave of a lot of things but in space these "waves" carry tons of radiation or we just call these waves "ectromagnetic
waves." These waves are weightless and can only be seen by a microscoptic scale. They're also energy waves or electricity waves.
These waves are used in television, computers, and everything else we use pretty much. The electricity waves are harmless to the human body. These electricity waves are also radiation waves downgraded to a smaller level were it harmless to humans.

Finally ill be talking about my FAVOURITE thing I LOVE to talk about and that is Looking at galaxies.
We use telescopes to look at star but stars are actually suns. These suns has died and all were receiving are the light waves that are reaching earth. We kinda do the same thing when looking at bacteria or germs using a microscope. dark matter is something that insanely complicated and might actually lead to earth doom. In a couple BILLION years the milky way galaxy will collide with another galaxy, Amdromea. I believe that this WILL destroy earth but it isn't really known.

Yea I worked hard on this and I used my Background knowledge and the article.

•Astronomy is a subject that covers all space and planets.

•The word "Cosmo." Originates from a Greek word that means a interconnect of the universe.

• At first, Space was only a chunk of pitch black with gas all over and stayed there for years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years.

•It took "billions." Of years for humanity/Earth to begin.

•It started off with 7 Planets (excluding Pluto because Pluto ain't a planet.) And one star (the sun) and that's what made our Solar System. That's why the 8 planets or 7 orbits around the sun. p

•be side or around our solar system Is are astroids/meteors surrounding all 7 planets.

•This was the first proof or not of matter.

•The solid came from the planets.
The gas came from Space.
The water was found in Mars.

Universe
- It is huge.
-everything is inside it. -we are specks of dust in the universe. -The universe is gigantic compared to us.
-Earth is small compared to Jupiter. -Jupiter is small compared to the Sun. - There are a lot of suns in our galaxy.- There are a lot of galaxits in our universe.

The universe was created way before the first star develop.- The universe started with a big bang. - Gravity is when an object atracts another. - Large objects have greater gravity then smaller objects. -Objects in the universe that has mass has a gravitational force.

Me and the Universe:
- Imagine you as a piece of dust, or tinier. that's how small you are to the Universe.
- Jupiter is the biggest planet in the solar system, compare it to the sun, and its looks way smaller.
Did anyone hear a bang?:
- No one knows if there was a big bang, its just a theory
- The Universe might have started with a big bang
The Current Thinking:
- Scientists are working on the history of the starting of the universe.
- Scientists think the starting of the Universe started with a big ball of mass billions of years ago (Agar.io)
- The big Ball is gonna explode, then time began
- After the Big Bang, Stars, Galaxies and systems came. That's the main source of the Universe.
Force of Gravity:
- Gravity makes you stay on the ground, no gravity makes you float
- there is no gravity in space.
Earths Gravity:
- The moons gravity controls our water.
- The Earths Gravity makes us orbit around the sun.
- The suns gravity pulls on our planet
- When the earth spins around, weather can be affected
Feathers:
- Feathers fall slowly
- A feather falls slowly because the air is in the way

Universe part 2:

Crushing and popping:
- The bottom of the sea has a lot of pressure, When you get down there, its so hard to get back up because all that water is on top of you and that pressure is hard on you.
- The pressure is hard enough to crush a sub!
- Space is the exact opposite.
- You would pop like an balloon in space!

The universe,I don't believe in the Big Bang theory because no one know how our planets were made I believe that god created the planets.

Vacuums are nothing they are cold empty space that makes up just about the whole universe.
There is something called dark matter and dark energy there are every where but if you try to feel them with your hand you will feel nothing.
There are waves of energy all around us in form of tv and radio and the heat in the atmosphere scientists call them electromagnetic radiation they are basically waves of energy.

Me and the universe:
How big is it? Well we don't know exactly but there are theories that say it is infinite.Thats huge I'm I right? Compared to us we are a speck of dust. Even earth. Compare to Jupiter it is very different in size but Jupiter compared to the sun is a huge gigantic difference.

There is no evidence that this is real.
All galaxies were inside a ball.
Current thinking:
Scientists are thinking about how to universe began.
A ball filled with mass exploded and then the universe came to life.
Force of gravity:
Gravity is what makes us stay planted on the ground.
zero gravity makes us float (how cool is that.
In space there is no gravity and that's why on the moon astronauts are able to jump so high.
Earths gravity:
The moons gravity pulls out tide.
Earth uses its gravity to orbit around the sun.
As the earth spins our weather is sometimes effected.
Dropping things:
When dropping something gravity makes it drop at the same peed no matter how much it weighs.
The reason a feather falls slowly is because the us air blocking its way and that's why it sometimes spins.

I heard that the whole universe was crwater by the big bang but I believe it's is not ture because of my religion.

Gravity or gravitational forces
Gravity is when a object is attracted to another object,talking about a objects molecule attracted to the others objects molecule .Earth's Gravity is the force that is stooping us from floating,the moons Gravity effects the tides to rise and fall,asleep the Earth's Gravity keeps us our planet orbiting the sun.

Vacuums
The space is a vacuum it's is cold,empty spaces that make up just about the space in the universe

Pressure
A
If you are diving to the bottom of the ocean the pressure would be incredible,even strong enough to crush a submarine,if you were to jump out of the submarine you would be crushed by the pressure but space is the opposite.Since there are no molecules in space there would be no atmosphere and pressure.

Waves
There are forms of eaves all around us,for example the TV,radio,,transmissions,gamma radiation from space,and in the heat of the atmosphere.Most scientists calls it electromagnetic or (EM) because they both have electric and magnetic charatistics

Black Holes
Black holes are big holes that suck everything in its way,even light can't escape is gravitational pull.Black Holes are made by stars dieing out or burning out,the explosion which is called a supernova,the only possible way a black hole can generate if it has 20 the amount of gravity more than the sun

Me and the Universe

:We do have some evidence that the universe started with a big bang.
:Sare working with the idea that the universe started with all of the mass in one big ball, billions of years ago but they think one day the ball explode and thats how it started the universe but after it exploded it left dust behind and those dust pieces turned into stars.

If we look at the universe around us and our measurements have led us to this current conclusion. How did all the stuff get in a ball in the first place.

Gravity or gravitational forces exist when one object attracts another.
Obviously gravity is very important on Earth but scientists think Other planets also affect our world.
We have nothing to say about vacuums. Vacuums are nothing. Vacuums are a lack of anything.

They have evidence that the big bang started the universe.

The universe started in a big ball of mass billions of years ago that exploded billions of years ago and left dust and pieces began spreading out and in time, and in some time they created stars and galaxies.

Gravity is the reason that everything stays on the ground and without gravity are planet would not be orbiting the sun, because gravity pulls on our planet. If you drop a feather and a basketball the basketball would hit the ground first, and aren't you wondering why, because the air makes it harder to hit the ground.

Vacuum is a empty part of space. for example the sun and earth. They are millions and millions miles away from each other but the area between them is called a vacuum. Even though there is stuff there it is not visible to the human eye there is still stuff there like dark matter. There is no pressure and molecules in space.

Most astronauts become 2 inches taller in space

In Space the sun is white not yellow

NASA discovered a star that's cool enough that you could touch

Astronauts use the washroom every two hours a day

There's a mountain called Olympus Mons in mars it is 22,500KM long and is so big that it sticks out of mars atmosphere

If you put two types of metals together the would automatically weld them self together

*The Universe*

Firstly, Earth, our home it is BIG right ?! Is it not ?
Well, (a Brief explanation) Think of a vacuum As the universe , with a lot of space . Now think of Earth , as just one teeny, tiny spect of dust. (Makes you feel lonely, right?).Imagine All that space left .

Now , to the Big Idea. Who else thinks the universe is NON Ending?! The universe started of with a ball that was made out of rock, and that rock exploded open which began the universe which is known by " The Big Bang Theory". But scientist and mathematicians are still trying to find out what really happend. But that dosen't mean you have it is true l, like for me i'm Christian , and I beilive that God made the universe.

Gravity: Is one object that attracts another. -Molecules. Like how earth is pulling us to the ground and that's how we stay on earth.If you were to compare our mass to the earths mass were not that cool like the earth.

Pressure: Enough pressure can kill you! If there are no molecules then there would be no atmosphere ( I Think this is right) and pressure . Molecules want to spread as fast as they could possiblay can go . Like in your body we have molecules . And if you were to go to space you would blow up because the molecules would want to spread as fast as they could right!?
That's all i have tho . I think i over did this too much.

1} origins/. Did anyone hear a Big Bang!!!!!!!!

Basically scientists say the universe started as a " big ball of mass"
And people say one day the big ball of mass exploded and that's how the Big Bang theory was kind of made.

As time went by many pieces of the mass went spreading and going there own way until they found there friends and they went together forming as stars,sytems and galaxies it's weird to think the universe started as mass it's scary because there was probably a universe in that ball before it exploded.

2} Force of Gravity

To me gravity and space in general is creepy!! I can't think about space without feeling sick but anyways there's no time to talk about me lets get on with "gravity". Gravitational forces attract objects in space thats what it does but every object has mass. Earth is pulling us down to the ground because it's keeping us on the ground earth is Alive if you do something to it it will get mad my mom says that earth is basically a body of earth and water just picture a man/woman/child there hair is made out of grass and there skin is water that's how the earth is it is alive but the point is that it helps us.

3} Vacuum

A vacuum is cold yes cold it's nothing vacuums just lurk in the universe making probably plants cold because there far away from the sun I think planets around the earth get some of the sun light I feel bad for plants in other galaxies get cold because of the "vacuum.

The universe started with a BIG BANG. Scientists say that the universe started with a mass in one big ball. When it explodes, it's called the big bang. After it explodes, all of the dust and pieces begin to spread out. As time pass by, small pieces are attracted other pieces and objects began to form.

~Force of Gravity~
Gravitational forces exist when one object attracts another. It's like the Earth pulling on you and keeping you on the ground. That's gravity working.

~Earth's Gravity~
Gravity is important to earth. Earth would be weird without gravity. The moon's gravity makes the tides rise and fall. The earth's gravity has he same pull at every object.

~Feathers~
Notice how feathers fall slowly. I'm not even patient enough to watch it fall. It's so slow! If you dropped a feather in a container with no air, it would drop as fast as a baseball.

You And The Universe
1)The size of earth to the universe is not even the size of a grain of sand.

2)Imagine how small you are compared to earth then imagine how small earth is to Jupiter then the sun, the galaxy, and last universe.

Did Anyone Hear A bang
1)The scientist thinks the big bang is what created the universe but not everyone thinks that true because the how can a massive asteroid create something bigger.

2)Another thing scientist thinks is that after the big bang exploded pieces from the asteroids flew of into space other pieces attracted to another to form.
There was a question they had and it was why does the planets in the universe are round to begin with.

Force Of Gravity
1)Gravity is kinda like magnets because one thing can attract to another.

Earth's Gravity
1)Earth's gravity helps the planet orbit the sun and the sun's gravity pull keeps the planet orbiting. The gravity on earth pulls every thing down evenly and gravity pulls down objects and it will keep speeding down falling.

Feathers
1)Feathers fall down slowly because the air pressure creates resistance on the feather which will make the feather fall slower. The feather would fall faster when there is no air pressure on the feather.

Much Ado About Nothing
1)In between the space of how far earth is to the sun the are vacuums that you can't touch or see and it is full of empty spaces in side.

Crushing And Popping
1)Underwater on the sea floor water pressure is really strong and crush a lot of objects. Space different there are no atmosphere and pressure. In space you don't get crushed by the pressure, you only explode like a balloon.
