Today, you learned how to code with Sphero and how to complete basic functions with it. Look forward to more exciting ADST lessons with Mr. Collins in the near future! Later, we worked on converting terminating and repeating decimals into fractions. We will continue this in class tomorrow. You ended the day off with a writing activity with Mrs. Chohan and then worked on your map of China practice activity for the Forbidden City and ratios/scales/proportions.

In life there are different instructions and you just need to follow them. When I was skiing I need to follow the sign to go down the mountain, but if I don't follow the sign I will get lost also I might go to a strange run that I don't konw. Also when I was cooking I need to follow the instruction to bake a cake. If you don't follow instruction the cake might explode because if you leave the cake in the oven for too long, If you don't follow instructions maybe something bad will happen.

@ Daniel, Yes, I think your essay is good, but... what was that first paragraph for? Was it for a hook, or was it some useless stuff on your post.(Also, I'm pretty sure that cakes don't blow up UNLESS they have dynamite in them or it has something in it that has a chemical reaction with hotness. You can say that turns black, or burns [but it's not likely to happen{usually}])

One thing you may want to check in your post is some punctuation. The second sentence has a few examples that make it harder to follow. See if you can reword it, or turn it into a couple of sentences.

Sometimes, following directions is very tiring. You have to do that! You have to do this! But sometimes, following directions is crucial to living a good life and to complete various tasks.

For example, while we did ADST today with Mr.Collins, he showed us a bunch of things to do first, otherwise we might do the activity incorrectly. First of all, there were instructions to press the right type of sphero (Sphero Spark+) then we would get connected to a different sphero than what we have. There are also three different apps for sphero and if we weren't careful then we would go to the wrong one.

During the actual activity, we were supposed to watch Mr.Collins to see how to get a sphero to roll around and turn around. If we didn't, nobody would have any idea what to do for the challenge. Also, we listened to him for directions on how to actually use the app to code.

In real life, there are many other different things that you need to follow directions for. For example, when you are cooking, you need to follow the directions that were said on the recipe before actually trying to cook the food. However, if you don't read the directions first, you could do something wrong and not even know it.

When you are ordered by someone to do something, you need to follow their directions or risk getting them mad. There is also the chance that they won't trust you with any responsibility later on. If you have a career, you have to follow directions or risk losing that career.

In conclusion, following instructions is a very important part of our lives. If we don't do this, there is always the chance of consequences later on. Therefore, we should always try to follow the rules... unless they don't make sense.

@ Miranda - Great job! I like how detailed and structured your writing is. Though, there are some improvements that can be made. For example, the first sentence of your second paragraph is technically a run-on. Maybe try to rephrase it. Also, you forgot a few commas in the second paragraph. Make sure you find where they are and add them in. Other than that, I really liked your piece of writing.

What if, your Lego set constructions said "Just build it!" What if the recipe for pie said "just make it!" What if when Mr. Hong taught you how to write 5-paragraph essays he just said "Just write it!" Instructions are really important because it helps you make things and not fail to do stuff.

For many things you need to follow directions. It goes from playing with Lego all the way to driving planes and cars. Like, when you build Lego, there will be a instruction book where it tells you what pieces to take out and where to put them. Without the book, you can either estimate, or look at the picture at the front of the box. If you are driving cars or planes, there will be an instructor helping you, and he teaches you how to do it. Then you follow his or her directions to drive it. If you don't have an instructor, then you will crash the car or experiment 9/11 number 2.

There are a lot of things in life where you need to follow instructions in order to complete tasks. For example, building a shelf or a desk, baking a cake or baking anything at all.
Let's say, you were going to build a desk, so you didn’t follow the instructions and decided to just slam the pieces of wood together and just hot glue the nails on the wood like decoration. Yay, you made a desk! Not. If you followed the instructions you would have been able to successfully able to make a desk.

In conclusion, following instructions is a very important concept.

Check out that second to last sentence and see if there is a word you can remove ;)

Today, at school, we learned about coding with Sphero Spark Plus. This engaging and entertaining activity was extremely educational and coincided with the Big 6 Learing Principles, but it also emphazized the importance of following instructions.

Following instructions sounds like a simple task, but it is not. Following instructions is not just "Hey Jeff! Turn off the lights!" "Okay, sure!" but much more complicated than that.

Think of a human as a computer. A computer is an electronic overrated human programmed to follow instructions. Pressing a key? Following instructions. Copy and Paste? Also following instructions. If a computer can to so much as following commands without arguing or disagreement, then we should be able to too. Computers are programmed to follow even the most difficult commands, such as 'Hey Siri! Sing the Lyrics of Who We Is from Teen Titans GO' or 'Hey Google! What's the weather in New York?" just like we should be trained to follow even the most unintelligible voice commands. (Hot tip: Just ask if you don't understand. It's as simple as that.)

Following instructions is part of our everyday life, and by failing to do so, you probably deserve whatever happens to you. For instance, see those 'High Voltage! Do not enter tracks!' signs at the skytrain stations? You should probably heed the warning, unless you want to get electrocuted and/or run over by moving trains. Another example is at work/school. Teacher tells you to 'do your own work and be quiet?' You might want to acknowledge this, or it's your own fault you earned a one-way ticket to the principal's office.

There is also another definition of following instructions. When you take public transit in New York and you have absolutely which entrance to enter to catch the Q Broadway Express or what in the world a Q Broadway Express is, you usually use google maps, right? Well, what if instead of saying use the main entrance of 42-street Times-Square station, it just said figure it out yourself, you'd have no clue what you're supposed to do. Google maps will tell you which entrance to use so you don't end up on the W Broadway Local to 86-street.

To sum it all up, I really can't stress the importance of following instructions. It's just TOO important. Not following instructions can a.) literally be life-or-death, and b.) make you seriously mess up big-time. When it comes to following instructions, you do NOT want to refuse.

I like how you are making a connection to personal experience in the second to last paragraph. How would you change it to make it easier for people who have not been to New York to better understand?

Sometimes we might not realize, but directions and instructions are actually hiding everywhere in life to support us!

Let’a say making crafts, it is one of my favorite things to do when I’m bored and just a few days before my birthday, I received a craft box as a birthday gift from my sister. Inside, there’s a book full of instruction on it and everything else is put in different sizes of bags with letter A, B, C on them. At first, I was totally shocked by how much detail there is. I feel like I’m not going to do it the right way since there’s a limited amount of material. So I made a safer decision, I took my time and read the instruction book very very carefully because I had to make sure I used everything correctly with the materials given. However, it was grateful to see the result ended up nicely!

All in all, the instruction is pretty important in life. We really have to follow the instruction carefully in order to not prevent silly mistakes.

Independence is a great skill to have, and it will undoubtedly help you in the future, but there are some circumstances where it is crucial that you have a set of rules or instructions to follow for the best performance. Sometime there might be a roadblock that you cannot pass, as you can only get through it with some very specific actions. This aspect is applied to everyday life, and without it our society would have been somewhat of a mess (more than it already is).

The concept of instructions has been integrated into everyday life, there are tutorials for media related things such as instructions for installing ROM's or APK's (which is kinda illegal don't do it even though I have >:3) and tutorials for video games, which I will describe in more detail. Video games use to have some of the most creative ways of giving the player a clear view of what they have to do, without directly telling the player to press A or press R2. Video games are a prime example of how instructions are useful to guide a user. Most modern games simply give the instructions on screen, but games like mega-man were smart and they were able to tell the player what to do without saying it. As an example, if there was a platforming section in a game, and the platforms were moving, you would obviously time your jumps to beat it. However, after you land on the last platform, you notice that the next few platforms deactivate which will end up dropping you, so you infer that you need to time your jumps to make it. After introducing these concepts, they put them together to create challenge, and it made sure you knew ow to over-come it.

Life will throw something at you, and you might not know how to get through it. However, you can learn how to do it through research, and trial and error.

I think giving direction or instruction is really important to all of us, we might not realize how important it is but it is important!

Let's give it an example:Let's say I was doing my pop art for my first draft. At first, I don't know anything about pop art! I had a lot if question like what is the history of pop art? HOw to draw a pop art? Whta is pop art actually?..............BUt after, Mr.Hong and Mr.Fisher give us instruction of every single little step of how to make pop art, I suddenly think draw a pop art is like a piece of cake. So after, I follow the instruction. step by step and I make a ok pop art(I could make better but I am not good at drawing stuff). I think there is a little point, we have to follow the instruction carefully, because if we make one point wrong, the whole thing will not make sense.

IN conclusion, I think it is pretty cool that we have instruction in the world. I hope we always look for the instruction sheets when we doing something that we don't know haw to do.

Instructions are extremely important, but also extremely annoying. Instructions can be simple, but also can be difficult. Instructions are a path to success, it is a key to succeed.

In this ADST lesson, Mr. Collins taught us of how to code and control a Sphero. We learnt how to code. Sometimes we will have a little bit trouble when coding the Sphero. First, to figure out our Sphero which we connected with our Ipad. Secondly, we thought about how the app works. Third, it is pretty hard to code and to think of our plan to do our coding. Fourth, we have to record down the speed, time, and the area of our trail. We solved the problem because we tried and we followed the instructions and step on step towards succeed. It is quite challenging to me, but I enjoyed a lot though.

To real life, I can only think of building. I am going to move to a new house, and what I do is to build. To build, is to follow instructions. If you don’t follow instructions, you may build your object wrong. So, this could tell the importance of following instructions.

Following instructions is difficult, but it is important. Following instructions is also the way to success.

Life has a path to success likewise to failure. Today in the class we were given a task to complete and had to use spheros which was an item used for coding. Mr. Hong gave us instructions on what to do, which we all have to follow that came out successfully. The only challenge we had to complete was to make the spheros move, turn then come back to us. In our team Unaid and I made it happen. Following directions and instructions is a skill taught to us since we were at an early age. In addition to that, following instructions is a part of everyday life. If we will learn on how to follow directions and instructions then they would learn how to perform skills effectively. However, if one would fail to follow directions then you could get lost one's ability to act on request on others would help them function efficiently. One good example that you can use this is on a different environment such as home, school, hospitals, restaurants, etc. If a child struggles or fails with following instructions, this impacts on their ability to reach the desired purpose and outcome to complete the task effectively. For example, if the teacher in the school ask you to do something and you were not paying attention in class especially about a certain homework you could end up not knowing what to on that homework. This could affect your grade because by not following directions by the teacher it is very possible to do things wrong. Therefore, learning to follow directions as well as instructions is a very good foundation that you would need to get through life so our world can run smoothly and become a better place to live.

So, instructions. Sure, most of the times it'll be really boring following instructions, but truth is, instructions are really important. I mean, think of a world without instructions! One day you decide to buy a two story house, and the construction workers are like, "hmmm....how do we do this? Oh, we'll just DIY this." After the house is finished-or so it seems-, you step into the house and....BAMMMM! The whole house crashes down on you.

Okay, I may have exaggerated things, but it just shows how important instructions and directions can be. So, next time you eat a yummy piece of cake or pie, just remember that instructions made it.

Directions and instructions are everywhere. They are on the road, in tutorials, on your manual, in recipes, and in all sorts of places. Today, Division 2 had a ADST (Applied Design, Skills, and Technology) lesson with Mr. Collins. We were learning about coding again. Though, this time we are working with little ball-shaped robots called Spheros. They were fun and interesting to work with, but also a bit challenging to follow instructions.

We had to follow certain steps before we were even able to start coding. First, we had to wait for an iPad to be able to access the coding app. Second, we needed to go in the app and create a new program. Next, we needed to patiently pair and find the right Sphero out of the others. This part was challenging for some people, but good thing my group was lucky and got it in our first try.

In real life, You also need to follow instructions. That is a required and necessary skill to succeed in life. It can be just as important as being able to read a book, write essays, or even do math. It is important to read and be able top follow directions because that is what is going to keep you on track and lead you to success (just like Success Criteria!).

If you don’t follow certain orders, there will be consequences to it. You may get fired if you are working for someone, you may cook an unsuccessful dish, you may arrive at the wrong destination, or you may have an accident if you are driving. These situations are just like a test at school. If you don’t read instructions, you might get or do something incorrectly.

In conclusion, this is the importance of being able to follow instructions. Today’s ADST lesson also showed us the importance. It is a key skill to success, in school and in real life. Being able to follow directions may not seem hard to do so, but people can forget to do so sometimes!

Directions and instructions are everywhere. They are on the road, in tutorials, on manuals, in recipes, and in all sorts of places. Today, Division 2 had an ADST (Applied Design, Skills, and Technology) lesson with Mr. Collins. We were learning about coding again. Directions and Instructions
One of the most important things in life and that is because if we have no purpos then why are you and I still here? We are here on earth because we have a path to follow, its like we are playing the game of life and well in every game, you should have an objective or purpose you are aiming for, in this case where to go and how to do it.

And the most important time to use directions and instructions, is when you are in a situation where you have no help, lets say you are hiking with a friend and you want to camp for the day beside the lake and you have nothing else other than old school stuff like a compass, map, tent, bags, canned food and an oil lamp.
D = direction
I = instruction

D= go find a good camping area with a flat surface.
I = pull out the tent, build the tent, prepare the tent.
D= go get some wood and sticks from the side of the site.
I= use the wood and light a small fire.
I= Cook the cold canned food, eat, drink some warm water.
D= Go inside the tent.
I= you know what to do now!

Instructions. Sure, most of the times it'll be really boring following instructions, but truth is, instructions are really important. I mean, think of a world without instructions! One day you decide to buy a two story house, and the construction workers are like, "hmmm....how do we do this? Oh, we'll just guess this." After the house is finished-or so it seems, you step into the house and....BAMMMM! The whole house crashes down on you.

Okay, I may have exaggerated things, but it just shows how important instructions and directions can be. So, next time you eat a yummy piece of cake or pie, just remember that instructions made it.

Yesterday we had a fun lesson about spheros.

Spheros are tiny robots you can control. You can make them do anything really. What you need to know, is that you have to try and control them. It’s hard at first, but once you get use to it, it’s really fun controlling them! You can make them do anything you’d like. You can have them race around the room, or make them even talk! Yes, talk. Making them talk is really fun, but don’t get too carried away. This also connects with us.

The spheros had a mission from us, but what’s our mission? Well everyone might not have one yet, but right now it’s learning in school!

Instructions! Step by step, they lead you to success.

Instructions are commonly used in a lot of places and are required in a lot of situations. There are many points in your life where you will need instructions. It starts when you're very young. For example, playing a game of soccer or basketball. In order to play these games, there are rules and it's up to the person who's coaching you to help you learn by giving you instructions to follow. Another example would be cooking. When you want to learn how to cook something. Where do you go to learn it? Usually you go to a cook book right? Cook books are full of instructions for you to follow. By following the instructions, you'd most likely be successful and create a delicious meal. There are a lot more examples I can name but that's all I'm going to write for now. Usually, instructions are very important when you're new to something and if you don't follow them, you'd most likely not succeed in whatever you wanted to do.

So yeah. That's what I think about instructions and where you'd probably need them in life.

Directions are boring but directions are important in life.

In life you need to follow directions is when you travel or going to a new place. When you didn’t follow directions, you might get lost. For example, during Christmas break, I went to India with my mom and little sister. My thought was I wil get lost . I follow my mom, or family members ( only outside) so I wouldn’t get lost. I would go with my aunt or uncle to go to a store without my mom and so I would stick with them.

Okay, I think directions are probably important in life.

In real life, there are many other different things that you need to follow directions for. For example, when you are cooking, you need to follow the directions that were said on the recipe before actually trying to cook the food or else it might toast too sweat or too salty.
