LEARNING/PLANNER:
1.) READING:
- Complete a paragraph on the big idea of a book you are reading.
- CRITERIA:
- Paragraph format, intro/body/conclusion, stated a strategy that helped you find the big idea and how it helped you, states the big idea, and pays attention to the givens/conventions of writing.
2.) LA:
- Complete Novel Approach packages independently.
- Book clubs will happen every day the week you return. This will be your opportunity to 'LEARN FROM OTHERS' on what you were unable to do yourself because you didn't understand the gift of words or thinking and learning questions. (Reflective thinking)
3.) SOCIAL STUDIES:
- Do your best to complete your mapping poster of the underground railroad. Don't stress if this is not possible.
- If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here or email me directly.
- How to make the map look old. Keep in mind, when 'aging' your map, all the important areas from the criteria must be visible in order to be evaluated.
1.) Soak in black tea and then dry it
2.) Wrinkle it up and smudge some areas
3.) Wet some areas and then dry it.
4.) ONLY UNDER PARENTAL SUPERVISION: Burn some edges or make some holes in it. YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO DO THIS WITHOUT DIRECT ADULT SUPERVISION. if you want to do this when your return to school, I can help you with this. - For the arrows showing the routes, you do not need to use all the arrows. You can use any of the maps or combination of the maps from different sources. The GOAL is to show some of the main routes used to escape slavery.
