SUMMER SCHOOl DAY 1: READING STRATEGIES (CONNECTIONS)

Today, the students learned about making connections. More specifically, we reviewed text to text, text to self, text to world, and text to media connections. All of the students were familiar with the learning language and just needed a bit of review. In addition to this, the students worked on creating name cards with descriptive adjectives and pictures that CONNECTED their personalities, with their names.

1.) HOMEWORK: Colour your name card for tomorrow.

2.) WRITE A RESPONSE: Choose one of the different types of connections you learned about today and give one detailed example of a book you read and an event/something that you connected to. Be sure to be as descriptive as possible and include as many details as possible.

I was reading a book called shadow and it's about a boy who finds a dog and in this part the dog was at the border in the night and police caught him and he was leading the boy to America and the men gave the dog back and stole their donkey and then up the road the dog shadow was taken back to the army by SGT.brodey and it reminded me of this video I watched on soldiers searching for bombs because shadow was a bomb squad dog
