Translation means the process of translating words or text from one language into another, but what does it mean in mathematical terms? And how do we do them? Today I'm going to tell you!

Firstly what is a translation? A translation in math is moving a shape. For example if you want to move a triangle up three then you move each of the corners by three spaces. Next are rotations as can tell, you have to rotate a shape. Pick a center of rotation and then rotate the shape. The point of rotation does not change. Finally are reflections! You may think of this as a refection in a mirror, and is it kind of like that. To do a reflection chose a reflection line. You will be reflecting your shape over this line. Now it's time to reflect. The shape should a mirror image. For example each point should be the same amount away from the refection line, as the original shape is.

Can you be more specific on the rotation. i.e I can pick a point and rotate it, but if you are answering a question and it says rotate 40 degrees clockwise, how do I do it?

Ever heard of the word Translation in math? What does it mean? Translation in math is basically you moving a shape. For example, you take a diamond or any shape you want and you move all the corners by one space. It’s simpler than it sounds! Now onto rotations. Rotation is when you find the centre of rotation and rotate your shape. For example, you take your triangle and rotate it by 90 degrees each time. But, you wanna make sure your shape is the same in all the 4 quadrants. Next up reflections. First, you’ll need to choose a reflection line, basically you’ll be reflecting your original shape. but like rotations you need to make sure each of your points/coordinates are the same as your original shape. I hope this makes sense and it helps you understand translations.

In your reflection part your "but" is behind a period. Maybe change it to a comma or capitalize the "but"

Remember not to repeat the same ideas, such as translations "in math". Also in my opinion, cancelling some "you"s would improve your paragraph to sound more professional. Such as "You take a diamond or any shape you want and you move all the corners by one space." to "Take a diamond or any shape you want and move all the corners to one space". Other than that, it is pretty decent,

Translation:
Translation means that you are moving all the points of a 2D shape. For example, I have a triangle on a grid. I need it to move 2 units to the right. So I take all the points or vertices and move them 2 units to the right. Then I reconnect the dots or vertices.

Rotation:
Rotation is turning a shape on a fixed point. That is called rotation. An example is if I have a triangle and I want to rotate it 90 degrees clockwise on the bottom right corner. The point on the bottom on the right corner stays there and does not move. The other 2 points rotate 90 degrees clockwise.

Reflection:
A reflection is when the shape is reflected off a line or axis. Its similar to a mirror. It shows the same shape of just your side is the opposite side on the mirror. Reflection works like this: I have a triangle on one side. I want to reflect it on the y axis. I take the shape and flip it over the line.

Dilation:
Dilation is the process of which you are expanding the shape or shrinking the shape. If I have a tiny triangle and I was told to make it bigger, I would use dilation. I expand and stretch the shape. It will still be a triangle but only bigger.

Translation:

Slides/Translations
A slide is taking the coordinates of a shape and moving all of them the same amount. For example to complete a slide of a triangle you could slide it 1 right and 1 down. Therefore that would be moving all the x coordinates plus one and all the y coordinates minus 1.

Rotations
A rotation is when you move a shape by a number of degrees, such as 90 degrees or -270 degrees. You can rotate around any point on the grid but the most common one is the origin at (0,0). When you rotate an original shape the result that you get at the end is called the image.

Reflection
A reflection is when you take the original shape and you reflect it over a line, which creates a mirror image. For example if your original shape was in quadrant 4 and your line of reflection was the X axis (where x=0) then your reflected image would appear in quadrant 1. It would be the same shape and each point would be the same distance from the x axis.

Rotations Slides and Reflections are all translations. I this paragraph I will tell you about translations.
first rotations, you probably can get an idea just by the name. A rotation is when you rotate a shape on a grid, you turn it by the point of rotation around the grid whatever amount of degrees your supposed to.

Next a slide. you move a shape around the grid how many times your supposed to without altering the shape. For example you mode a square (-1,+3)

Reflections. Reflections is when you flip a shape so that its identical but flipped over across the reflection line. for example if you reflect a square the square corners are going to be placed the exact same amount of spaces on both sides.

Translation is when you move a shape. Remember, you move the whole shape, including all the points, not just a few of them. Also, the shape is facing the same direction, but it is just teleport to another area. Such as 2 right, 1 down, etc.

Reflection:
Reflection is basically a mirror image. There is the reflection line, and it reflects from that line. The image would be reflected, and "flipped".

Rotation:
Rotation is just rotating a shape, as you might already know. There is a point of rotation. It can be one of the vertices, the center, or even just a random spot on the grid. Then, you rotate the shape around it. For example -90°, 180°, -270°, and 360°.

TRANSLATIONS:
Firstly, a translation is simply moving the shape around the paper. To do a translation, move each of the vertices in the same direction. For example, one space up and five right. When doing this, the original size and shape should be maintained in the translated image.

REFLECTIONS:
A reflection is quite self explanatory, it's like a mirror image. To do a reflection, the first step is to find a line of reflection. It can be the x-axis, y-axis, wherever you want. Then mark each vertex the equal amount of spaces on the other side of the line.

ROTATIONS:
Rotations are also self explanatory, you are turning a shape around the point of rotation. To do a rotation, use a piece of paper and trace the original shape and the corresponding vertices. Don't forget to line up the bottom/side of the paper with either the x-axis or y-axis and mark the point of rotation. Next, turn the paper and line it up with the most convenient axis. For the next step I put the traced shape behind the grid paper with a bright background to make it easier. Finally, using the tracing paper, mark out the new vertices onto the grid paper.

Translation:
Translation is like sliding a shape left, right, up, down. For example, you have a triangle and you moved it 4 spaces right, and 8 spaces down. Keep in mind that the shape does not change in shape, the only difference it where the shape is.

Reflection:
Reflections are pretty self- explanatory. You basically flip the shape over the line of reflection. For instance, you have a triangle in quadrant 1 and you flip it over the line of reflection which is the Y axis. Since you flipped it over the Y axis, the shape should be in quadrant 2. The distance between the shape in quadrant 2 and the line of reflection should be same and quadrant 1 like a mirror.

Rotation:
Rotation should be easy but it's just time consuming. Basically you turn the shape over the center of rotation. For example, you have a triangle in quadrant 3. You turn it over the origin(0,0) 90 degrees counterclockwise which ends up in quadrant 4. How I like to do it, I just draw a line to the closest corner to the center of rotation. Then I draw an 180 degree(for example) angle. Where ever the other end of the angle is, that is where the the corner ends up when you rotated it so you should be able to figure out where the other vertices are.

There are three types of rigid transformation like rotation, translation and reflection. Rigid transformantion point move but the length and the angles stay the same. A rotation is to choose a point first and rotated around that point.The translaton is all the point move the same dirction. The reflection is on the both side of line of symmertry has to be the same distance when you move.

Reflection: A reflection is like looking in the mirror and you'll see the reflection, except it's reflecting a shape. Reflection is like flipping the shape over the mirror line which it is reflected on, and it may be the x or y axis line. The spaces from the shape to the mirror line after it's reflected should be the same as before it was reflected. After all, it is a reflection.

Rotation: A rotation is moving the shape clockwise or counter-clockwise over the centre of rotation which every rotation has. Then you rotate the shape to a certain angle either by moving the paper itself (only if they're 90 degrees), or using another piece of paper or your own method.

An example is if you had if you had a triangle on points (2,3), (4,3) and (3,5) and you want to move the triangle 2 spaces up and 10 spaces right then that would be a translation. It's a translation since you moved the triangle up 2 spaces and right 10 spaces.

A rotation is when you rotate an object clockwise or counter-clockwise on a grid around where the center of rotation is. For example if you wanted to rotate point (1,1) 90 degrees around the origin then you would rotate it around, and a simple strategy i use is to count how many spaces are in between the point so it's (1,1) then you rotate it so you would count (1,1). And then you get your answer.

Reflection:
A reflection is basically a mirror, so if you had a line with points (1,1) and (2,1) and you want to reflect it, then is will just be the opposite, so the answer will be (-1,1) and (-2,1).

A translation is when you move a 2-d object vertical or horizontal without changing the size or structure. A translation does not move the 2-d object diagonal or change the shape or size in any way.
To do a translation, move each vertex in the same direction. For example, “move down one unit”, you would move each vertex down one unit.

Rotation:
A rotation is when you rotate a 2-d object in a counter-clockwise or clockwise direction over a centre of rotation. A rotation does hot change the shape or size of the 2-d object in any way.
To do a rotation, use a piece of paper and trace the original shape and its vertices. Next, trace the centre of rotation. turn the paper according to the degree and line it up with the most convenient axis. The last step is to copy the new vertices onto the grid paper and connect them.

Reflection: just like in a mirror, a reflection is a reflection of a 2-d object over the line of reflection. The 2-D object will appear flipped. A reflection also does not change the shape or size of the 2-d object.
To do a reflection, find a line of reflection. A simple question will use the x or y-axis as the line of reflection, but it can really be anywhere. Next, mark each vertex an equal distance according to the question.

translation is one of those words that have many various definitions. Some can apply to things like changing a language of something to another language. In a mathematical context it means to move a 2d shape in a direction or multiple directions without changing the shaper it self. a reflection is to mirror the shape while not changing the shape itself on a line. Finally a rotation is to rotate something along a fixed point to change the location and angle of the shape. The dimensions of the shape are still the same and the shape it self is not altered in any way shape or form.
