Today, we were lucky to have 'THE MASTER OF INQUIRY' sharing his knowledge of the 'INQUIRY PROCESS'. Mr. Fisher completed his masters degree in teaching the inquiry process. He is an expert and you are very lucky to have him as one of your teachers this year. You continued learning about the importance of 'QUESTIONS' today. As you have already learned, it is one of the 'BIG 6' Learning Principles. Parents, please watch this video on the inquiry process with your child.

4.) SOCIAL STUDIES / INQUIRY:

If you haven't already done so, be sure to have your mini-inquiry question and 2 subquestions ready to go for tomorrow.

4.) POST A RESPONSE:

Today, you learned more about the inquiry process from the 'MASTER of INQUIRY' - Mr. Fisher.
In writing class today, you learned about different ways to generate ideas.
Choose one of the following methods (list, free write, web, or any other method) and come up with as many ideas you can come up with as to why 'QUESTIONS' help you learn!
Be sure to list the name of the METHOD you used.
Don't forget to use your background knowledge!!!
Do a self-assessment for the givens (spelling, capitals, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, etc) and EDIT/REVISE your original post.

My method of generating ideas is to free write my paragraphs. How do I generate ideas by just free writing? well, when I usually write a paragraph other people usually have to have an idea about what your gonna write. I usually just free write because as I write more on the paragraph, I get more ideas, it's like when your trying to write a draft on paper and can't think of anything good to write, but when you have to print it you get more ideas while your writing it on the computer.

The way I generate ideas is by listing my ideas out on paper and then try to think how the paragraph would look. This method is easier for me to understand because I have a base and ideas to go off of

The method I normally use to write my paragraph is probably free writing. To generate my ideas, I just think of what to write while I'm writing and sometimes I might stop for a few seconds to think of some ideas. I use this method because it is easier for me to do and it's faster for me to write (I write really slow). If I do have a long period of time I would brainstorms things inside my head before writing for a few minutes, but I would still be getting new ideas while I'm writing. I think that questions help you learn because if we didn't ask questions and we weren't sure what to, we would have trouble and probably not do to well. Questions are a very important part of our learning because it means to own our learning and also helps us grow as us learners.

When I write I tend to use free writing because though I have many ideas I don't really write any of them down. I use free writing because I feel like it's quicker and easier for me to use. I use free writing because it's what I feel is the best method for me, like questions. Why are questions good for your learning you may ask yourself, well you're asking a question right now. We tend to ask question without our knowing, questions help us articulate things we are curious about or things you don't understand. Questioning things can be good for you because it helps your learning in the way you need it to. If we never asked questions would we really be learning? If you ask questions it shows your teacher you are listening and that you are actively thinking and comprehending what they are saying.

In conclusion, questions are what helps us learn better, without questions teachers may never know if you are confused with the work at hand.

There are many writing strategies to help improve your writing. Personally, I use the "free writing" method the most often. It helps me jog down as many ideas as possible, which helps me have more ideas for my paragraph. It helps you put more detail and understanding into your words. Speaking of which, questions are a very helpful way to learn. If you never ask questions, Learning would be extremely hard. Asking questions helps you understand things more, allowing you to build on your background knowledge, therefore allowing you to put more detail into your writing.

In conclusion, asking questions is very crucial if you want to build on your knowledge.

Today Mr. Fisher taught us about inquiry add how to generate ideas. The thing about generating ideas helped me get my main idea for my inquiry the question that I made up for my inquiry is “can herbivores survive of meat.”. The ways Mr Fisher taught us about generating ideas is going to help when I think about a idea or question.

I usually use free write, it let's me express what I'm thinking while writing it down on a piece of paper. For example when I`m writing a paragraph and I forgot to add something I could organize it later and make corrections I learn by asking questions and finding the answers by asking someone and looking it up in a dictionary (if it`s a word). I remember one time I didn't know a word so I asked my teacher because teachers are always there to help! Questions can also help us learn when were doing inquiry.

There are many ways to generate ideas, just as making a list and webbing. The technique I use is free writing. Free writing is a very easy and efficient. It allows you to write all of your ideas on paper without actually thinking much about it. It's fast and usually kick starts your brain and helps you come up with even more ideas. That is why I use free writing to generate ideas.

There are many ways of learning. One of the most useful methods is asking questions. Asking questions about a certain subject shows that you don't understand and want to know more about it. It then helps you understand what you didn't know and gives you more information. Questions also show that you are passionate about this subject and want to fully understand to do a great job. Without questions, learning would be a lot harder and inefficient.

My way of generating ideas is free writing, I just think of a topic to write about then I just think about what to write and keep going. Sometimes when I get stumped I'll just stop and think or maybe do a brainstorm if I'm really stuck and can't think of anything. So that's my way of writing and my strategies.
I think questions help people learn because if you never ask questions you can't learn. Like if u don't know how to do division and you never ask how to do it, how are you going to learn without someone's help. There are lots of other examples of why you should ask questions but Im not gonna name all of them. All the examples show that asking questions is one of the keys of learning which is in the big six. So if you don't ask questions you can't learn anything so that's why you ask questions.

There are many writing strategies you can use but personally I like to free write. It basically means that while I'm writing something for example I'm writing a paragraph, I write and think of ideas along the way as I write. Questions are another most important and vital part of understanding things and learning if you don't ask questions work will be very hard to comprehend. Asking questions means your owning your learning and asking questions is one of the big 6 principles that everyone should use to guide themselves to success! Thank you Mr. Hong and Mr.Fisher for teaching me that!
