Roy Lichtenstein Pop Art

Today, a student asked me if I was a religious person. I replied to his question honestly. Then, another student said that my religion was 'LEARNING'. It brought a huge smile to my face. I believe in learning and helping students learn! I have 6 commandments that I follow and I teach my students to use these principles. These are known as the 'BIG 6 PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING!'. This includes taking ownership through learning intentions, success criteria, questions, self/peer assessment, and descriptive feedback. Learning is my religion! :-)

Girl in Mirror. Not Girl before a Mirror, but Girl in Mirror. Confusing right? One is made by Roy Lichtenstein, the other by Pablo Picasso. Which is made by who?

If I were to show you the two paintings, then what would you think? One looks like it came straight out of a comic book and the other looks very abstract. Picasso has many abstract paintings and Lichtenstein's work all looks like it's from old comic books. So NOW what do you think? When I say old comic books I mean the ones with those ten cents stickers and everything has very interesting colouring. When I say interesting I mean odd but I don't want to be offensive... So interesting works for me. Lichtenstein's looks like it's from old comics, as mentioned before. But what else gives it that unique Lichtenstein touch? I notice that most of his work are of women with blue eyes. I also observed that there are no children artworks. So would that mean his art is for adults because it features them? It would make sense because some of his artworks aren't exactly for children. Or is it? (But I don't' think so.)

The things about this artist Roy Lichtenstein that I noticed that most of his art is cartoon and he also has a son called Mitchel he also was used to be not popular but the years ago I think then he started getting popular because of he’s beautiful art. Roy died during the 1990s and he had this pupolar art he made that was called the crying girl and which was made in 1963 and it was basically just a crying girl with blonde hair, red lips, and the girl was had eyes that were collar black and white. Roy Lichtenstein had also other art work that are amazing such as hopeless,blam,in the piano, etc and his artwork was mostly about this girl and her brother I think he also had some food art and Mickey Mouse. On my opinion my favourite was the Mickey Mouse one and I chose that because Mickey Mouse was my child hood and I just liked the tv show and today I think it still popular but I don’t it is popular than the one years ago. I also so some of he’s artwork and was about food such as meat,fruits,turkey,etc which I find interesting about he mostly just do art about the girl and I think he wrote a book about that girl or he just likes drawing about that girl or he was probably inspired by someone for him draw something like that.

Pop art, “turn images from popular culture into art”. So, I think it means that he uses popular and common culture or our living way, such as telephoning, walking and even animate or cartoon, etc. To change it, evolve them and reflect them into art. And finally, it became Pop art.

Let’s talk about some facts and history of Roy Lichtenstein. He was born on October 27th, 1923 until September 29th, 1997. He likes to create different paintings, and they are exactly told us about our culture and the way we live. Whaam! and Drowning Girl are Lichtenstein's most famous works. And of course the most popular works, Oh, Jeff...I Love You, Too...But…, Drowning Girl, Whaam! and Look Mickey. And his most expensive piece is Masterpiece, which was sold for $165 million in January 2017. I think there are already enough facts. I remember that my teacher in my old school has told me that Roy Lichtenstein has ever said this. He described Pop art as, “not 'American' painting but actually industrial painting”. I thinking about that, but I haven’t figure out what did he means. Or maybe he wants to say pop art is not just cartoon painting or comics pictures.

In my own opinion, I think pop art is brilliant art, and I think Roy Lichtenstein is a legend of art. It is almost impossible to think about that. In the past, I think comics pictures are boring. Until I saw the pop art. I think pop art is an actual painting but with emotions, pictures, dialogues, and it has a special style in it. It feels like you are in the real place in pop art. In conclusion, I think pop art is a special and unique painting which can reflect our style, fashion and our culture into art. I think pop art should spread out to everyone in the world to let them know the importance of pop art.

Bam! Bop! Pow! Shalamawammaslammabananaslamma! These are common phrases used in comics and old television shows. It was a way to describe the event of a big action, such as a superhero punching someone. It was a graphical means to show the sound that might have occurred when the action would be played out. If a robot exploded, a BOOM might be used in replacement of just the robot exploding. These were all shown through a visual pop up showing the used word with a popping border and appropriate background. This is described as pop art.

The artist behind the creation of pop art is known as Roy Lichtenstein. His art had been originally criticized, the common excuse used for the criticism was that it simply was not art. As time had passed, his art was eventually revered and some of his art sold for millions. He had put his art in many different locations, and they may be viewed if one visits there. His art was quite odd and not very practical to illustrate. That art had become more and more appreciated as time went by.

Pop art is basically just art that takes other stuff in it. For instance, just taking a comic strip, and turning it into a drawing. Also what we do in life, such as eating, sleeping, playing and learning.

Roy Lichtenstein is the person who "invented' the pop art, and he was born in 1923 and died in 1997. Roy's most famous arts are "Whaam" and "Drowning girl". Also, one of the paintings he drew, "Oh, Jeff...I Love You, Too...But... ", got 30 million dollars. that might be because that the drawings are awkward and new. For instance, lets just say, a pencil sharpener. You see that they are not drawn that often. Something I learned, is that you can actually draw anything. Like you don't have to draw specific portraits of people or specific objects.

Overall, I think that Roy's art is great and is really cool. That's because he can take random objects and turn them into drawings. And also, he draws objects that are not usually drawn. Like a hot dog, who will want to draw a hot dog?

His method of creating images has become central to critics understanding of the significance of the movement.

We can see pop art any where, in the comic book, in the train station or even in your house. The pop art shows what we did every day, like shopping, eating and learning or sleeping.

Making some kind of art is normal, but not for Mr. Roy Lichtenstein, this man can create something in his own style, and I must say his style made a lot of impact to the meaning worldwide.

Pop Art is an art movement presented by imagery from popular or mass culture such as advertising, comic books, consumer product labels, packaging, celebrity photos, and animals. It is short for popular art. One of the popular artists was an American Roy Lichtenstein during the 1960's. His work "Crying Girl" was one of the famous art works brought to life in Night at The Museum but his Masterpiece painting was the most expensive and was sold for $165 million.

I was so fascinated and in awe of his art works because he made it plain and simple but people in there households could relate and understand what he wants to convey.

Therefore Mr. Roy is truly an inspiration to all aspiring artists who brought Pop Art into popularity by injecting humor and content to mass culture.

@ Miranda - Great job! I like how structured your writing is. I also like how your lead-ins and bridge connect well. Even then, there can still be improvements made. One example is to not start with which. Maybe take the period out and replace it with a comma. Also, when introducing a noun (first sentence of the third paragraph), make sure to add a comma before the noun (e.g. painting, “Whaam!”).

Inspired by advertisements and comic strips, he viewed the world in his own way by art. Did you know that Roy Lichtenstein was driven by his son to pursue pop art?

Roy Lichtenstein was an influential artist back in the 1960s. He was known for his bright and colourful paintings of comic strips. While I was researching and looking at his artwork it looked like solid colours but Roy Lichtenstein actually uses Ben Day dots, a system invented to increase the range of colours available to newspaper printing. He has also been through tough critics. He’s been accused of copying comics, he later defended himself by saying he made changes to the picture. he was also called out on of having a very simple technique of painting.

In conclusion, I learned lots about Roy Lichtenstein and I think he expresses his thoughts and feelings n a very unique way.

Did you know that pop art has been around for 68 years?

I'm going to be talking about Roy Lichtenstein. First, his art is a form of art called "pop art" which is an art form that came to be in the 1950s.
Second, his style of art is very interesting! Pop art is an art form of which when a popular person is drawn with many colours. Many comics use this style of art form. A lot of the times, the art in general will be drawn with a popular singer, actor, pop star, rock star, etc. Number three is that his most expensive piece called simply "Masterpiece" was sold for $165 million dollars in 2017.

In conclusion, I'm very excited to do a pop art project soon since art is my favourite subject and it'll be great to learn more about this genre of art.

Mr.Lichenstein was one of the most famous pop artists in the 1960s, and well as many of us know now. Pop Art as we called it, was a piece of art that uses a variety of more colours than normal art, but most of the colours have to fill in the characters face, body and appearance.
And I always save best for last, Roy Lichenstein served in World War Two, he was sent to anti-aircraft in placement near Hawaii, but later served as a U.S fighter pilot.

In this picture he used many dots to color the girl’s face which created a feeling of comicalness. This photo also told us how she was feeling because we can see her expressions. Before he became famous other artists criticized his art simply because they didn’t look like art and seemed childish to them. However, now his artwork sells individually for millions of dollars. For example, one of his most famous art pieces was called “wham!’”. As of today, the painting is on display at the Tate Modern Museum in London.

All in all, Roy Lichtenstein utilizes famous pieces of artwork from master artists and customizes them to fit his personality by using sound effect words, such as “Bloof”, “Slamm”, and “Ohhh”.
