ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE

Today, students continued responding to feedback and conferencing with Mr. Hong, Ms. Janzen, and Mrs. Altman to improve their essays. Students have also been engaging in the peer assessment process by sharing their work with their classmates. This is a sign of students taking ownership of their learning. The writing process has taken the students ~1.5 months from the generating ideas to the editing/revision process. Learning takes time.

IMPORTANT:

Hopefully we can send the ski trip forms home by Friday. We apologize for any inconveniences.

1.) LA/WRITING: Edited/revised 5-Paragraph essays are due on Friday.
LA/WORDWORK: Quiz on Friday. Complete one synonym for each word and 1 sentence using your
original word.

2.) POST A RESPONSE:

Holiday - Keep working on your essays using your rubrics/criteria.

After music students worked on a key aspect of the Career Education program by completing a questionnaire that focused on their strengths and areas for growth this term. Parents will be able to see some of this results of on the repost card coming out at the end of the month.

Multiplying decimals seems so difficult and challenging, but when you realize it is basically the same thing as normal multiplying! But it is a bit different. All you have to do is to ignore the decimal point and multiply like its a normal number!. but there's a extra step. At the end, add up all the space from the right to the decimal, for instance, 1.23*4.567, there are two digits on the first number from the right to the decimal, and three on the second number. Add the numbers up (5) and put it at the numbers place digit from the right on the answer.

First you must multiply 8 by 4 which =32 carry the 3 above 3 then 8 times 3 = 24+3=27 carry the 2 above 1, 8 times 1=8+2=10, so our first answer is, 1072, now multiply across with 9 so, 9 times 4 =36 carry the 3 above the other 3. 9 times 3 = 27+3=30 carry the 3 above 1, 1 times 9 =9 +3= 12 our final answer is 12060

= 13.132
because there is 2 number behind the decimal point in 1.34 and 1 number in 9.8 I skip 3 numbers and place my decimal point in the final answer.

Multiplying decimals is actually really simple. It is pretty much like multiplying regular whole numbers. You start by multiplying the numbers like you would normally. Completely ignore the decimal point. You then need to add the numbers together. Once you're done, you need to count how many numbers are on the right side of the decimal point (on original numbers). If you had say three numbers on the right side of both your original numbers, you would move your decimal point three to the right.

How do you multiply decimals? Well, it is pretty simple. What you would want to do first is multiply them normally. (As in ignoring the decimals.) Then, when you get your result you would count the number of decimal places in your two factors. After that, you would add the decimal on to your result.

Example:
1.34*9.8= (?)
134*98= 13132
1.__ and 9._( _=decimal places)=3 decimal places.
131.32
Therefore the answer is 131.132

Multiplying decimals is not that hard. All you have to do is the following - for example 1.45 times 0.9. Do not mind the decimal for now and just do the normal multiplication. So 145 x 09 is 1305. Now count all the digits after the decimal for both the factors, which for this case would be 3 digits. That number will be the number of digits after the decimal for the product which will be 1.305 and that’s how you do it :)

Multiplying Decimals

Multiplying decimals is really easy and simple. Ex. 0.5 x 0.6 = ??? First you multiply regularly. So 5 x 6 = 30. Then you count the number of digits after the decimal place which is 2 numbers because 0.5, 5 is one and 0.6, 6 is the other one.so now you move the decimal of the product of 5 x 6 = 30 two decimal places over. 1) 30 2) 3.0 3) 0.30. So the final answer is 0.30.

To multiply decimals, what you must do is do normal multiplication like you would do, then you would add the numbers, once you have done all of your multiplication, you check how many digits are after your decimal. Once you have counted the amount of digits you look at your final multiplication answer and just count the digits and add your decimal to the same number of the amount of digits you counted earlier. For exg; 1.321x69.420= 91.70382. Remember, all you do is multiply th
