THURSDAY: Genius Hour

Today, the students were given a block of time to learn about anything something they were passionate about. They learned that creativity takes time and that they all have something to offer the world! Something that is obvious to them, is amazing to others! Click here to watch the video that was shared with the class! Share this video with your parents and your other family members! Also, show them what 'GENIUS HOUR' is actually all about!

1.) MATH 6: Any assigned work. Check your teacher's website.
MATH 7:

Worksheet 3.1 and 3.2.
Complete your selection of 5 new companies and fill in your handout with the date, name of company ticker symbol, and the closing price of the company from Thursday or Friday.

2.) POST A RESPONSE #1:

What is something that is really obvious to you that you're passionate about. Explain in a short paragraph.
Many of us have spent years practicing a sport or hobby and have become quite good at it. We don't always realize that it has taken a lot of hard work to actually get to the point where you are today. What is obvious to you can be amazing to otherS

One team Fortress two otherwise known as tf2 one of the most fun Games I have ever played just so many things to do but mainly all the hat more than 1000 actually still really really good experiences on there.

@ Gamer - Can you revise your post and split your ideas up into separate sentences? I think that your ideas will flow much better if you do this.

Also, What is this game like? What types of things occur in this game? Do you travel back in time? Do you travel in space?

I think that dancing is a passion that I find easy but others find amazing. I really like dancing because it takes me away from all of my problems and I just have fun when I dance.

One very obvious thing that almost everyone knows about me is that I like technology. I like it because it is very creative and I can do anything on it.

One of the obvious things to me is dancing. Whenever I hear music and I'm with @juliette we would most likely start dancing or make up a dance to that song because it's fun and let's you express yourself. It's pretty obvious to me, but it may be amazing to others.

Something that is obvious and everyone one knows I like is baseball. To everyone baseball seems easy, but it is a lot harder than you think. Learning to throw all kinds of pitches, knowing where to be if the ball is hit or where to throw it. Even hitting the ball takes practice with hand eye and concentration.

What I learned about the two is Abby doesn't like school very much, but art is her lifestyle. I learned that Meagan love one direction.

I learned that Abby does not school but really likes to draw. And Meagan likes photography and One Direction as it seems and really seems to have enjoyed the cell unit.

Something that is quite obvious is I like to be outside and ride my bike and skateboard and such. I don't like the rain at all though, but I'm quite sure that no one likes the rain.

1.) I love horseback riding because it is hard work and takes a lot of skill and many people think "oh you just sit on a horses and yank on their mouth and abuse them" but actually no that s the opposite horseback riders take a lot of skill to ride a horse and we don't abuse them (well some do but they aren't real riders) or yank on there mouths.

2.)To some people horse back riding is not great or that it sucks
but to me its obvious and to some other people its amazing I think.

I love piano and music. I have been playing piano for 8 years now, since I started kindergarten. I have come a long way, and people say that I can play really well. But it seem obvious to me. I guess i've bee playing for so long that it has just become part of my life. I practice 5 times a week, normally on weekdays, for 45 minutes. My piano teacher is Debbie Boganes, and I was really lucky to get in with her. There's a HUGE lineup to get lessons with her, and I believe it, because she's really nice and a fantastic piano player. I'm so happy that piano is a part of my life.

I am really passionate about dance. I love it so much and i do it on Wednesday and Sundays and I have a lot of fun It is hard but it is worth it because, at competition in may you get trophy's if you win and it is pretty rewording at the end.

Something obvious that I like to do is soccer. I am extremely passionate about soccer because it has been passed through from generation to generation and it's so much fun to play. My great grandfather, my grandpa, my dad, myself and now my baby cousin all play soccer. In that five generations I have been the first and only girl in the family to actually join soccer . I'm also passionate about soccer becuase I love making new friends on my soccer team. Some of the girls on the team I've played with since I was 7 years old. Our team is like a family we stand up for each other and love to have fun and when one of us is having troubles in life were always there for each other.

1.) I find acting really easy. To me it just like singing the 'ABCs' but others find it really hard and amazing. Sometimes it a little weird when others try to act but can't because I used to think anyone can act but not everyone can.
2.) Did it yesterday.
3.) I learned that abby likes to draw and is isn't a fan of school and Meagan likes to learn and dance.

Something that I think you all know I am passionate about is soccer. It is my favourite sport and my main passion. I have been playing soccer for years and I've learned a lot of things about it. I have played with the same people since I was 5 and we've all gotten to know each other really well.To me some things I can do with a soccer ball is really easy, although it may seem hard to other people who don't know much about soccer.

Something that is really obvious to me but maybe not to others is me scooting. Some people know what I can do and some people don't even knew that I did scooter. I like scooting because is is fun and easy to learn tricks. Another reason why I like scooting is because it is an easy transportation to get around and fast. I have been scooting for around 2 years. I have been getting better every time i step on the scooter for example when I do a tail whip it might look like I had a weird landing, well when I do them constantly I get better and land them clean.

I learned that from abbys page she really likes to draw and put detail into them, Also she updates her website often. From Meagan's website I learned that she likes taking pictures of objects in the microscope.

I played guitar for 5 years and I've always found it really easy, Everyone would say I'm so good at it but it was simple and boring almost because it was so easy. And then I would watch others try and play what I had just played and they had done guitar for the same amount of time as me and they still couldn't play it. So it seemed easy to me but it was hard to others.

One passion of mine that very few people know is I like to swim but not just like lanes no I mean like almost scuba diving I only recently started doing it I only have a snorkel and flippers but I will be getting a wetsuit soon.

Something obvious to me is drawing. I like to draw because it is fun and it makes me calm. Also I draw, when I have time. It is easy to me but other think it is hard.

[Oh my god I'm laughing so hard everyone's putting down that they learned that I don't like school. I don't think they realize that I like "school/learning fine", I'm just not to crazy about the enviorment it's taught in, it's slightly toxic.]

Something obvious to me it may not be to others are subjects that centre around feminism, equality for those who are queer/gender fluid/non-binary etc. I find it hard to believe that some people think that only certain genders can be in certain jobs, and that some believe that there are only two gender binarys. I spend a lot of my free time on websites that give out information about those who identify as something others might not see them as in the real world. I've grown in a world of people with different genders and sexualitys that other students may not have been exposed to. For example, I'm pretty sure most students don't know what "pansexual" or "non-binary" means because they live in a area where people or mainly straight or identify as the gender they were given at birth. Different pronouns, terms, sexualitys and life styles are normal to me, but strange for some others.

Meagan's website is interesting, we'll put together sand updated often enough. She enjoys the currant science unit and posting plenty of pictures of her discoverys.

Hockey I am really passionate about this sport, it is so fun I play it a lot I started at the age of three. I was a player and played in Cloverdale, Then one day my mind changed I wanted to be a goalie and my dad didn't really want me to but I did. So I would be a goalie every once and a while. And I started to get better and better and now I play in langley and I am a goalie.

I am passionate about piano. I have never really thought that what I am doing could be challenging to others but it is because I needed to work hard to get to the level that I am at. I started playing piano in grade 2 so its been about 4 or 5 years. One of my friends says that I don't practice enough she says that if I want to get really good I need to practice for like an hour everyday but the thing is I just like to have fun when I play. Sometimes I go faster to see what it sounds like and sometimes I go slower. When I had a keyboard I used to change the instrument sound like sometimes it was banjo, choir, or even drums. I think that if you are passionate about something that it should be fun for you and nobody should tel,l you how to do your passions.

I learned from Abby's website and Meagan's. one thing I learned from Abby was that she doesn't quite like school, but the opposite goes for art.

Something I am passionate about is Cadets or the military (I will never join military). I really enjoy cadets, mostly because of how much fun you have. It is obvious to me, but some people think they know it, when really they don't know a thing. I want to stay in Cadets for the full limit of 7 years.
