Thursday: Ice Skating with our Little Buddies

The boys and girls of Division 4 went ice skating with their buddies this morning. We learned about the importance of safety and wearing using the proper equipment to prevent injuries. It was also a great opportunity for us to learn more about our friends from Miss Robertson's Grade 1 class. This field trip helped us deepen the connections we have already made with our buddies! This will prove to be beneficial for our Book Creator presentations next week!

1.) Math 6 - Any assigned work. Test tomorrow!
Math 7 - Unit test tomorrow! Complete pg 89 and 93 #3,4,5,6,8, and 11 for review! Mark using the
back of your text book. We will go over any questions before the test. Post any questions here and
be sure to review some of the videos that have been posted over the past 2 weeks.

2.) WRITE A RESPONSE #1: Return to this web page and post a response to another student's comments. It would be great if you could ask them a deep thinking question that gets them 'THINKING'!

3.) WRITE A RESPONSE #2: Did you enjoy ice skating today? What did you learn about safety? What did you learn about ice skating? How do you think you can become a better ice skater? Feel free to write any reflections you have from today's field trip.

4.) SCIENCE 6/7 - I loved seeing the creativity today! You will take the feedback/suggestions that you received today and you will put the final touches on your work tonight! ALL PROJECTS MUST BE AT SCHOOL TOMORROW! This is not optional! ;)

Yes I did and I learned that don't fall and were a helmet so you don't injure your self like someone today. well I didn't learn anything from skating, Well... I think don't be straight when your pushing to skate and bend low.

I didn't really learn anything except that I learned to step and glide when skating and to stop by putting one foot on an angle in front of you.

I had lots of fun skating today! I learned that it is always good to be wearing a helmet because if you fell on your head you would have protection.(since tons o people were falling). I didn't really learn anything about skating though........... But it was still fun helping my buddy skate.

I enjoyed ice skating today. I learned that balance is most important compared to anything, if you can't balance, you can't skate. To be a better skater is when skating, it is a must do to balance yourself, if you don't, you fall.

yes I learned that it is fun to skate with your buddy and you can skate by step step glide step step glide. It was so fun and cool and cold there.

Today skating was a lot of fun! today I learned nothing really but I had a lot of fun assitsing my little buddy because when we first got there he was scared to go on the ice but at the end he was skating like a champ. : )

Today was really fun! I didn't learn anything new except if you ask people for high fives and move your hand and say too slow they chase you. And since my little buddy wasn't there i helped out Cole and Sponge bob, we all had lots of fun.

I think ice skating was fun and cold.I learned that when you fall on the ice it hurts.. your legs and to be careful not to slip. :)

Today skating was a lot of fun. I really did not learn anything but I had a lot of fun teaching my buddy how to skate and having him go from barely able to stand with the metal helper to actually being able to skate on his own.

I had a very fun time skating, it felt like a very short time. I also had a very small helmet. My head was hurting the whole time. We played hockey, my stick was left-handed, I couldn't play as well as I could have. I skated with my buddies, ATV BOY and Evan. Evan used one of those little chair-type things, they help you balance and not fall and I sometimes used one too. They actually help you. Unfortunately, one of my classmates fell on his/her tailbone and had to go home. I learned that to never go without some covering on your ears, and don't use skates that are too big for you.

I had SO MUCH FUN today! It was a great time for me and my little buddy to have a little fun time with each other and we both didn't know how to skate so it was perfect. After I let my buddy skate alone for a little bit, then Sandy Squirrel and I decided to let go of the hand bar thingy and try to skate. I went little by little and learned to glide and like always in the end I knew how to skate by myself. I wasn't a pro at it but I did pretty good for a beginner. At some points it was scary because some people cough... cough... all the boys, would come full speed at you and pretend like their going out of control and their going to smash into you. I would definitely love to go on a skating field trip again! :)

I had lots of fun today at ice skating with my buddy although i didnt get to experience all of it but if theres one thing i learned is that landing on your tialbone on the ice hurts!

Even though I'm not good at ice skating I had a fun time. I skated with my little buddy Brandon, he was very scared at first but after walking him through and giving him practice he got the hang of it. I think I can improve at ice skating by working on my balance.

I had a GREAT time ice skating with my little buddy, even though she didn't know how to skate I had fun teaching her how to and showing her what to do. Once she had some practice she got the hang of it! it was so nice seeing that she could ice skate. Im alright at ice skating I think that I could improve on my stoping because when I was going really fast I would smash into the wall and my wrists would hurt.

I did not really learn anything but I did help my little buddy learn to skate. To improve my skating I should join power skating or ice hockey.

I learned that it is VERY important to where a hemet because you can fall allot. I also learned that ice skating takes effort. I think I can become a better ice skater by going more often.

I enjoyed the skating field trip a lot! I learned that no matter what, even if you are a professional at skating, you must be aware of your surroundings. I didn't learn much about skating today but I taught my little buddy how to skate :D . I think that I can become a better skater by playing more hockey and development classes.

I had a blast skating.:) . I learned that to be careful when skating after Theoverseeker fell and got hurt. (are you ok now).

I learned that smashing in to other people is NOT! a good idea (accidental) and I had a really small bloody nose but it stopped right away. Also always be aware of your surrounding because right after that i got wiped out from my little buddy's dad :(, I take ownership because he was going around and I sort of went in front of him.

I had a great time ice skating with our little buddies! My buddy and I started skating together at the beginning with Pooh Bear and her buddy. We don't really know how to skate but halfway through we started skating and it was so much fun! I think it was a great time to build a strong bond with our buddies, and we also gained trust from them. The reason why is, they trusted us to help them skate. Yes, they fell a few times but we were there to help them up. I also think that we got to learn lots about our buddies like I learned about mine. Turns out, were very similar!

All in all, I had a great time skating yesterday.
