Lichtenstein Inspired Popart Today, the students learned more about poetry and learned another poetic device (Simile). They learned that similes are when you use 'like' or 'as' in a sentence that compares two different things. We looked at a few examples and then the students created their own similes and compared students in the class to other objects. It was a good activity to see which students would practice the Hillcrest 'R.O.L.E.S.' They were all asked to be respectful in their comparisons. Some students sometimes forget to practice being respectful in their attempts to be funny.

- Create a free-verse poem while incorporating the following items: rhyme, alliteration, personification, and a simile.
- It must be at least 4 lines.
- At the end of each line, be sure to put in brackets the specific poetic device you used)
- Practice your Hillcrest R.O.L.E.S.
- Comment on at least 2 other student's poems.
- Reply to any comments you receive.
- Edit/revise if necessary.
