READ ALOUD - Counting by 7's

Today, you continued learning about different digital tools that you can use to edit, enhance, and manipulate your alphabet photography. Do your best over the weekend to complete all of your edits and to put your collage together using any method you choose. Many students have started using the collage function on PicMonkey to neatly organize their images. You may do this, or use a Google Document or Microsoft word document. Be sure to show your parents what you have been working on. We will frame and mat your images on Monday.

2.) POST A RESPONSE:

LEARNING INTENTION: I can create a collage of unique images using different graphic editing tools.
STUDENT GENERATED CRITERIA: a.) Each image must be edited using at least 2-3 different tools (PicMonkey, Pixlr, or any other editing program). b.) Your final collage must look uniform. c.) You must have incorporated the photography skills you learned about at school. d.) Your images should not looked washed out or artificial.
Complete all edits and put all of your letters into a collage by using PiCMONKEY, Google Drive/Docs, or Microsoft Word.
Post your finished collage here as a shared link that is on 'VIEW' only.
In paragraph form, list 3 digital tools/functions that you enjoyed learning how to use and explain how it helped you enhance your photos. Be sure to pay attention to your paragraph structure (intro, supporting sentences, and conclusion)
Give a positive comment and at least one suggestion for improvement to 2 students on their written work.
Edit/revise your work based on your self-assessment or the peer feedback you receive.

Photo editing is very interesting! I used Pic Monkey for all of my photos and they all came out very good. Here are some functions that I really liked. First of all, contrast was awesome, as it made my pictures really POP!!! I also liked sharpness, and how it defined my pictures to look more professional. The last effect I liked in Pic Monkey was the paper texture, since it made some pictures look new and some old. I can't wait to do Pencils to Pixels.

I enjoyed learning about contrast and the coloring changing affects. I also really liked the sharpness feature because than you can make you pictures more detailed even if your camera is not very good.

@ Azbo, really great collage. Great job! One suggestion I have for your written work is to.. add a catchy intro hook, give detailed examples for each function, and add a catchy outro hook. Other thank that, great job!

I have not completed editing yet, but I really like using the tool with the magic wand tab called effects on pic monkey. I also found that I like dark images better than light images. I made a few light pictures too, so that I could have some variety. I took a few images at my house because from L to R was missing. Most of them were indoors, but I took some outside too. I can't wait until I make my finished "Masterpiece"!

@ Chicken - We reviewed it in class. You will probably want to combine two of your letters into one. Does that make sense? For example, the letter 'H' and 'I' Can probably be combined? That means each letter would have to be half the size (image). Let me know if you don't understand what I mean.

@ Chicken - I really like how you used so many different tools to create your images! Well done!

Suggestion: Could you perhaps change the colour of the pole for your letter 'r'? I think that would make it super clear that you are showing a lower case r.

I enjoyed editing photos even though digital art and photography aren't really my thing. I loved using the textures,frost/dark edges and dusk. I liked using textures because it looked pretty and really made the letters stand out especially when you took the paint brush thing and out lined our drew on the letter. I liked dusk because it made look cool and I took the paint brush thing and I painted the effect on the letter which really made it pop. I also loved using first and dark edges although I didn't use it much its still a great extra feature. I really enjoy editing bit I don't think I have mastered it quite yet!

To begin with, one of the functions that I thought was really useful was crop because with crop you can make your photos look very precise and basically just focus on your piece and take away any negative space. It also helps remove anything you don't want in the picture such as, a person on the side or sun etc. Next, I also like the function rotate because some of the pictures I took we are little crooked so with this function I just rotated it until it looked straight. Also, I took a picture of and N and then flipped it to the side then up and then it because my Z! How cool? The last function I like is vibrance because I can ether highlight my photo and make the colours pop or make it totally grey like an old fashioned photo. Another thing is, you can make it just how you want because its a scale so it can be to your liking. To end, these are the three functions I enjoyed using on Pixlr. Just so you now, this weekend I spent over 4-5 hours on this project so I hope you enjoy.

@ Pebbles - Your collage is impressive! I can see how hard you worked on your images! I think you have the skills necessary to be a graphic artist! Perhaps you will go into this field in the future?

SUGGESTION: Do you think you could make the F pop a little more? I think if you highlight the green, it may look more interesting?

@ Mr. Hong, thanks! I did work really hard on the collage but I found it super fun and maybe I will go in to that field in the future... Who knows?

If we have a little bit of time in class tomorrow or if I have time tomorrow morning I will definitely try to do that. Thanks for the suggestion! :-)

To begin with I think editing pictures was... okay. But, I did enjoy using some of the tools. For example, one of the tools I used to edit my pictures was exposure. I used this because it helped when I took a dark picture, making it more easier to tell what letter it was. I also used the spotlight, it made the images stand out making the background alittle blurrry. Lastly, what I also used was the sharpening, it made the pictures more clear. To conclude I (sorta) enjoyed using picmonkey, I just wish we did not have to use the alphabet as pictures to edit. Like the old saying goes, "Common sense is like deodorant, the people that need it most never use it." Don't take it personally Mr. Hong, I just don't like doing work.

10 place. I've been up since 6 am and I had a horse back riding show today so I'm pretty tired other wise I would have played more and tryed to get i higher score i might play again later and see how I do and maby I'll do better when I'm not so tired.

The first function I like is the Exposure one, as I mentioned before. It helped me make the images look cool. I also like the editing tool called Cross Process. It makes the image look different colours, which are green, blue, and red. Thirdly I like the Rounded Corners frame effect, which makes the photo have corners, like a frame. I made my corners red, to match the reddish-pinkish background. I had to put some of the photos on top of the old version because they looked too artificial. I hope you like it!!!

SUGGESTION: See if you can make your 'K' pop. It doesn't really stand out.

I used the crop feature to make images have bigger sizes, which would make the picture look nicer when you look at it. Secondly I used Exposure to make the picture darker and light and different
colour features. Thirdly I used colours to change the saturation of the picture and make darker and lighter.

@ Batman, great post! I like those functions a lot too. Some suggestions I have are... Add a catchy intro hook, add comas after your transition words, try to use new transition words, and add a catchy outro sentence. Otherwise, great job!

I used the expousure, brightness,highlights,shadows and contrast I also used sharpen witch is also brightness and contrest because for some of my pictures I went dark on the exposure and then the sharpen helped by making the picture look brighter so it wasnt so dark. And I put frams on all my pictures.

So first I would crop my photos to make it so that it would only focus on the letter. Then I would find a filter that suited the picture,For example, light burst or the water texture. After I would finalize my photos by use a background such as, poloroiad effect.
