Thursday: Math Rap!

In math, students learned about integers by categorizing numbers into integers and non-integers, and coming up with a definition for integers. Then, we learned the number line dance, and danced to the rapping mathematician's catchy tunes that also describe real life situations where integers are used. We finished by BRAINBLASTING about other real life situations where integers may be helpful.

1.) LA (Book Club): Finish reading and taking notes on Section I of your novel! Start posting your questions and blogging with your group (EdTech --> Book Club --> 2012-2013 --> Term 3)

2.) FRENCH: Due next Tuesday: Copy (write out on a piece of paper) the paragraph and correct all mistakes (eg. using the wrong form of AVOIR, spelling). There are at least 12 mistakes!

3.) SCIENCE/WRITE A RESPONSE: We watched 2 videos today about the Canadarm (Video 1 and Video 2) and answered questions to help us understand more about Canadian contributions to space exploration. Using the answers to the questions (that you completed in class), write 3 paragraphs in your own words:

a) Describe the 3 different Canadarms (1, 2, new generation)
b) Describe why the Canadarm is significant to space exploration
c) Describe how astronauts are trained to use the Canadarm.

a) Describe the 3 different Canadarms (1, 2, new generation)
- The Candarm 1 was built in the 80's. (1981) This shuttle arm comes back to Earth instead of being up in space permanently. It was 15 metres and was attached to the spaceship. That Candarm The Candarm 2 was sent up in 2001. It cannot be fixed because the Canadarm 2 on the space station cannot come back. Every part has to be replaceable so that they can replace it while it is still back in space. So, unlike the Canadarm 1, this one stays up in space permanently. The main purpose of building the Canadarm 2, is to build a space station. Without it, it would be impossible to have the international space station. The new generation arm is 2.5 metres long, and is more sophisticated. It is attatched to Mars, and controlled from Earth.

c) Describe how astronauts are trained to use the Canadarm.
They train for two weeks at the International Space station,

1.) Firstly, there is the Canadarm was built in 1981 and is 50 meters long. It is also attached to a space shuttle where is it very portable because it can be moved around also, the Canadarm is meant to move cargo in the space shuttles. The second Canadarm is attached to the ISS (international space station) space station and is not portable at all to fix it they have to bring in parts from the ISS or from ships that are orbiting it. It was also built in 2001 and it is meant to build the ISS. The new generation Canadarm is going to be 2.5 meters long and it is going to be attached to mars where it ca communicate with it's buddy's and it learns from it's mistakes so it will get smarter and smarter. The Canadarm new generation is going to construct buildings on other planets and maintain them.

2.) The Canadarm is significant to space exploration because one of them builds stations in space that we can live on therefore, we can study more about space.

3.) The astronauts are trained by operating the arm without anything in the grasp of the arm so they can get a feel for the controls. Also, it takes about two weeks to a actual Canadarm operator and they also operate it with cargo in it grasp so they know what it feels like.

The first Canadarm was built in 1981 and it was around 50 meters long! The arm was attached to a space shuttle which gave the are a lot of mobility to do its job which is moving cargo in the space shuttle. Canadarm 2 did not have very much mobility but it was an upgrade. The Canadarm 2 was attached to the ISS (international space station) and it was permanently in space so every part on the ISS and the arm needed to be replaceable. The new generation Canadarm is currently the best of them all. It is attached to a mars rover and the arm is 2.5 meters long. It will be able to communicate with its "buddy's" and it will also learn from its mistakes so like muscle memory to make it smarter. The new Canadarm will be able to maintain and create new buildings.

I think it is significant because it has allowed us to be able to create more things in space and make an astronauts life a lot easier.

And the astronaut are better trained because they got feed back for the astronauts so they can improved the Aumont of power the Canadarm is 1200 volts

a) The first Canadarm was built in the 80's and stays in the shuttle at all times. The second one was sent to space in 2001 and is in space permanently. The third one is being made to be more smart and handle bigger objects. It will be able to construct and maintain buildings on other planets and work with other robots.

b) The Canadarm is made to build a space station in space. If we didn't have the Canadarm, the new space station wouldn't e able to be built. The Canadarm has seven joints and can move something as big as a space shuttle! It uses 1200 watts of power.

c) Astronauts train by coming for two weeks to use it unloaded and also with a weight to practice moving heavy things.

A.) the Canadian arm was build it 1981. The candadianarm 2 was built in 2001 and is stuck to the Canadian space station permanently. And the third one is being made to be 2.5 meters long and will be alot s,after then the other 2 other Canadian arms and it will be able to learn from its mistakes and learn on its way so it is easier for the commanders.
B.) I think that it is significant because we would not be able to build spaces stations without the Canadarm because we can not build in space.
C.)astronauts are trained for 2 weeks and are tested and practice on a fake one so it they can feel what it is like to use the actual Canadarm.

The first or second (can't remember) Canadarm was about 15.2m and the first Canadarm was built in 1981, the second Canadarm was sent in Space to reach the ISS (International Space Station). The "New Generation" of the Canadarm was said to be 2.5m long, attached to Mars and Lunar Rovers, and is to be launched at some point this year.

The Canadarm is very crucial to Space exploration, the Canadarm will/has helped us create, fix, and repair Space Stations, buildings on other planets, as well as helping with samples taken from other planets like Mars.

Astronauts are trained to use the Canadarm by practicing with it for about 2 weeks. The people train with the arm practicing with lifting, dropping, placing and moving things with the arm.

One of the arms were built in the 80's and one was built in 2001, but the last one was built just for the rovers.

The Canadarm was built to make and repair space stations, also the arm is to get samples from other planets/

They train by moving the arm, picking stuff up with it and they train like that for like a couple weeks.

The Canadarm is significant because the arm builds new space stations.

The astronauts train for two weeks by lifting and moving the arm. Then after that they actually lift and move stuff with the arm to build another space station.

B) The Canada arm is signifanent because if we didn't have it it would be next to impossible to build space stations in space.
C) The astronauts are trained by going through a two week training session, and in this session they do and empty arm (which is when the arm is empty) and a full arm (when the arm has stuff in it.

A) The Canadarm 1 was built in the 80's and was able to com back to earth. On the other hand, the Canadarm 2 was built in 2001 and is in space permanently. This means that the Canadarm 2 can not be fixed unless in space because it cannot come back to earth. The 2013 new generation Canadarm is 2.5 meters long. It is more sophisticated, smarter, and learns from its mistakes. The new Canadarm is so smart that after awhile it won't need a master/controler because it learns from its mistakes. It is located in Mars and attached to earth so earth can control the canadarm. Did you know that they even programmed the arm to text if an emergency or something happpens!

B: The Canadarm 2 is significant to space exploration because it is built to create space stations and assemble it. Without it, it would be impossible to build a space station. The Canadarm has 7 joints and runs on 1200 wats of power (aboput the same amount of power as a hair dryer. The astronauts control it from the International space station.

C: Every astronaut has to take a two-week training cource called "Unloaded". In this training, you need to learn how to use/control the Canadarm. I am pretty sure it also teaches you how to fix the Canadarm in space and weight lifting.

1:) The differences between Canadaarm 1 is that Canandaarm 1 was built in the 80's and it comes back to earth. Canadaarm 2 was built in 2001 and is in space perminaty.

2:) The main reason why the Canadaarm 2 is designed to make a space station.

The canadarm one was built in 1981 and comes back after every mission but the canadarm two stays on the international space station and was sent out in 2001. The canadarm generation is going to stay on mars and is said to be only 2.5 m and is going to be smart enough to learn from its mistakes and do missions by itself.

The canadarm two builds space station's and so without it astronauts would not be able to go into space and not going into space means we cant explore it because without a place to stay astronauts would... not survive.So with no astronauts means no exploring.

When astronauts are training they go to a place and move the arm with and without it holding a load. They practice this for two weeks

The first Canada arm is not attached to a space shuttle, which comes back to Earth after a mission in space. It was built in 1981. For the second one, it is permanently glued onto a space station. If it breaks, it has to repair itself. It is meant for building space stations and without this, we would not be able to build them. For the next gen. Canadarm, it is able to move, on a Mars Rover, it is 2.5m long it will "communicate" with other systems and also will be able to build other buildings on different planets. It could learn from it's mistakes and soon be able to operate with no master.
b) Describe why the Canadarm is significant to space exploration
This is very significant to space exploration because we can find out new things from it and explore space easily, without sacrificing a human.
c) Describe how astronauts are trained to use the Canadarm.
The astronauts first go to a 2-week training program. They control a "virtual" Canadarm and moves the arm with the control stick, to feel what a real one is like.

The first Canadarm was sent on a shuttle and was supposed to come back. the second one was sent on the ISS and had to stay so all fixes had to be made on board or in space. The "new generation" is supposed to be on a rove sent to mars and collect samples and NASA is hopping to make buildings and have them interact with other rovers.

It is help full because it could make more shuttle repair the shuttles and collect samples of particles and stuff.

The astronauts went through two weeks of training at a base and learned how to control it

1.) Number 1 was made to go on shuttles, 2 for the station and 3 for mars rovers.
2.) It will help with building things on mars, leading to maybe astronauts finally going there.

To begin Canadarm 1 was built in 1981, with a 15.2 robotic apendages. The Canadarm will be able to make different buildings on other planets, and work and communicate with other robots. Canadarm 2 is located in ISS space station. The new generation will be 2.5 m long, this robotic device will be attached to mars and lunar rovers. Lastly after a while the robotic device will not have to take orders from us and it will control itself, in addition it learns from its mistakes. Astronauts are trained to use the Canadarm by practicing with the arm for two weeks loaded or not loaded.
