TUESDAY: Deep Sea Explorer Investor Pitch

Today, students started pitching their 'DEEP SEA EXPLORER' ideas to the class with their PREZI presentations. The students focused their presentations on the learning intentions and the criteria of what a good presentation looked like. We were all impressed with the quality of the work that was displayed in class today. We are hoping to complete the remainder of the presentations tomorrow. Also, don't forget your PE strip. We will be going outside for PE class tomorrow. Yes.......I said PE.

1.) LA / NOVEL APPROACH:

Read up to the end of chapter 14. You will have a Book Club discussion in class tomorrow.
If you aren't caught up, be sure to get caught up! Use your stickies!

2.) SCIENCE:

If you haven't handed in your prototype report, tomorrow is your final chance. Please note, it is already late.

3.) MATH 6: Any assigned work.
MATH 7: You will complete the rest of your test tomorrow.

4.) POST A RESPONSE:

What has been the most powerful thing you have learned from reading your novel?
What has been the most powerful thing you have learned from someone else during your group discussions?
Ask two students questions about their responses.

The most important thing I've learned is that don't trust just anyone even if they say they care for you or say any good things. From other people I've learned that simply things can be very powerful.

The most important thing I have learned is something Nelson Mandela said. He said, "It always seems impossible until it is done." I think this because in the book all the kids thought they would never get out of working as slaves at the carpet factory except for Iqbal. He believed that he was going to get out and that the others would to. And guess what, he did get out and freed the others. I have learned from others that you should always beleave and never give up on your dreams.

And even though almost all of the kids did not believe what what Iqbal said, he still believed. He believed that he was going to get out and that he was going to get the others out to. He was a inspiring person and I think almost everyone knows that. May he rest in peace.

It is so sad that Iqbal died (as you said may he rest in peace) but his death in American newspaper headlines got a grade six kid to start a group to help kids in child labor and poverty it is now called free the children and they created we day

The thing I learned from my book was, you need to stick up and help your family. No matter what, no matter who and no matter what. Your family is one of the most important things in life. You need to stick up and help them. I also learned more about the children in my book and how the world has people like them. How unfair it is. How different it is. I think I learned a little bit. But maybe it will be different for you. Now, if you haven't read this book, I recommend it 100%

The most powerful thing I have learned is that one person rebelling can trigger a massive freedom movement.

The most powerful thoughts of others on my group was that maybe Hussein Khan was a child labourer and after being a labourer he became the master.

I think the most powerful thing I have learned in the novel Lost Riders is that you should always follow your gut and heart. I think this because of how Rashid had thought of the threats at the uzba/ camel farm and decided to do what they wanted him to do. I think that he should have followed his heart and tried to find a way to escape. I also learned that you should always have a great amount of self confidence because Rashid did not. He always thought that he would never see his younger brother Shari because he was very weak and not well fed and was being worked to the bone. Then when he thought he was in trouble, he gets into a car and ends up at a rich mans house and plays with his son. I told you spoiler so don't get mad. Also when I said he went to play with a rich mans house, well the rich man was the boss of the man who owned the uzba. I know right! Rashid ends up in his house!? I remember that his uncle Bilal had said if they went with him they would have all the toys in the world and played with a rich mans son. Now. Do you see the difference?

I also had learned that when your in a group you get better understandings of other peoples learning and thinking. I think this is powerful so you can put down or add to your thinking from what others have read and said. I also call this deeper thinking. I learned that when your with a group you can basically do way better with your LEARNING! BYE BYE

The most powerful thing I have learned is that if you don't take risks you may never accomplish what you are doing.

The most powerful thing I have learned from others is that no matter what the colour of your skin is. You should not be a slave for having different skin colour.

I think the most important thing have learned is to never give up. Because Hariet Tubman doesn't give up her dream of she and her family becoming free even after she is very injured from a coin hitting here head.

The most powerful thing I learned from my group is how we all think peoples skin color is not fair to say your a slave. For example just because your skin is darker than other people means you have to be a slave and if your skin is light you can be a free man/woman.

@Azbo, it sounds like you said Hariet gave up her dreams because she got hit in the head with a coin and it was a brutal injury, but you didn't. How would a coin damage a human with such small or large impact? Was there anything on this coin or was it a mega sized coin?

The most important thing that I have Learned in is novel is that, "Some people do the wrong thing for the right reason." For example, in the story when the character Iqbal ran away he knew that the others would be accused or punished because the master thought that they were in on it. He ran away knowing that there would be consequences to his actions. But, in the end they did escape but he had to try to get away a second time, due to the reason the authorities were some what useless.

On the other hand, when someone pushed my thinking when sharing thier thinking and learning questions was when she asked, "Do you think him running was a good idea?" My honest opinion is that it was a good idea but he should have asked them first before making his move. That way he could have planned something out knowing that they could all escape. To conclude I understand that they all wanted to run away but as I was once told, always think before you act.

I am reading the lost riders and the most important that u learned is that if you want to do something you should do it even if someone says you cant. For example if you really want to play rock and roll but your parents don't want you to listen to it because they think it is bad. But if you did it anyways you could end up being a famous rock and roll player and be very successful.

To be honest, there wasn't a very powerful phrase mentioned in the book but words that bring you deeper into the story / pull you into the book. So in general the book was pretty powerful itself. But since there were no powerful words or phrases in the book, I may just say one of the gift of words that had caught my attention, "Uncle smiled at Salva's puzzled expression" and whenever I kept reading that, I just keep wondering to myself, "What are they trying to tell us here? What is the author trying to say?" What was the most powerful thing I have learned from my other group members? I learned a very important lesson that day and that was to read more carefully and see what you can find from the book and see what other things you can observe from others than their basic idea. Because an bigger idea gets expanded on when everyone shares.

The book I am reading is Torn Pages and the most powerful thing I have read in my book so far has to be when Lydia stood up to Grandma Motsie. Lydia's grandma would always try to make Lydia's life harder than it already is, because she knows she has all the money and all the power. But when Lydia stood up to her, She realized that they would now have to fend for themselves. I don't feel I have learned much from the group chats, and I don't feel very powerful things have come from it. To conclude, this is the most powerful thing I have learned.

My book is Lost Riders

The most powerful thing I have learned in Lost Riders is that you shouldn't listen to what other people say, you should follow what your heart desires. I learned two things from my fellow book club classmates
#1 that you shouldn't listen to what other people tell you for example if someone says your shirt is ugly don't listen to what they think. #2 How to properly pronounce names because I said to someone cause I think they said the name wrong how would you like it if no one could pronounce your name.

The most important thing that I learned from Torn Pages is never give up no matter what. Lydia's parents are dead, she has no money, and has to take care of her siblings. However she never give up. She tries her best for her siblings. The most powerful thing that I learned from my group is be nice to other. In the book, Lydia was nice to her grad a Mostie even though she was mean to Lydia.

Does anyone know how the report layout is supposed to be like? What I'm doing is keeping it the same way as the spreadsheet we had gotten but instead made them into general answers during the whole entire trial. Eg. The first trail of my plane worked very well when it flew, even with the wind giving it more of a boost to fly further. Thanks to whoever answers.

The most powerful thing I learned was how bad childrens lives can become in child labor and sweat shops.

Others in my group said that iqbals bravery was a great powerful thing and i agree, iqbal was very brave to risk his life to save many otehrs from experiences.

The most powerful thing I learned about the lost rider is that people will do just about anything for money. They trick kids parents into letting their kids go to dubai and lie about living in a rich house, then they take the kids to an uzba to train for camel races, where they win money if the kids win, and beating them if they loose. And. All that just for some money. There was no descusion on "powerful" points in our group yet.

The most important thing in "Boys without names" so far is that Gopal the main person is trying get a job to get some money so he can pay of the dept in there village that they escaped from. So he meets this boy named Jatin and he says his uncle has a factory and he is looking for more workers so he goes home to tell his Adi he'll be back soon and when he comes back Jatin has tea that Gopal drinks that is drugged then he fell asleep and wakes up in a little wood shack and found out that this mean man named Scar owns him and is in slavery with some other boy and now Gopal is trying to escape with some of his new friends.

I think the most powerful thing of the book of "A long walk for water" is where there is war going on in one part of the story and peace going on in another part of the story. It also takes place in different time. Slave and Not is the main characters. Salva is year 1984 Nya is 2008 and they both live in southern Sudan. So back in the day there was war and in the future it was more peaceful but there wasn't as much money.

Yes! Salva finally found his mom! Wait a second........... Nope that was just a women wearing a orange scarf aroud her head that looks just like Salva's mother. Firstly, the book im reading right now is called, "A Long Walk to Water" and to tell you, its a great book. Infact, the most powerful thing that stood up to me is that Salva never gives up instead, he always asks himself, "Wheres my family?" and this shows that Salva always trys his best in order to look for his family. For example, in the book when he was left alone without his family, Salva himself never gave up by always taking risks. Secondly, the most powerful thing I learned from others in the group is that it is important to always share your thoughts on the book and what might happen in the end because, you can push other peoples thinking for them to be able to deepen ther understanding. Above all, those were some powerful things for my book. Whats yours?

I've learned that you should helping others is important. I've learned that because even when she gets away she comes back to help save others who are in not good places.

I've learned from my group that it is important not to judge people on there skin colour and nobody is better then anyone.

My book is Iqbal. I've learned that one. Little thing can cause a domino effect of other things. For example, Iqbal cut the carpet in half so people helped and supported him and eventually they learned how to read and in then in the end of chapter 11 they had Hussain Khan caught in front of the cops.

The most powerful thing I learned from the group discussions is that kids are almost as powerful as adults and that if they try they can accomplish any thing they want.

The book I read was "A Long Walk To Water". The most powerful thing I learned is how bad people need water in the world and what do refugee feels like. I learned this because I saw two different point of views one in Salva perspective and one in Nya perspective but they had one thing in common they needed water for survival.

The most powerful thing I learned from my group is Salvas friend can be alive anywhere. We thought this because there was no sign of him screaming or blood print on the floor any where. There is a chance that he is alive some where.

My book is Boys Without Names, Something important I have learned is to not trust strange people you meet on the street or they might drug you and sell you.

An important thing my group disscusion taught me is to not judge people, wether they are rich or poor, have dork or light skin ect.
