4.) GRADE 7 YEARBOOKS:

Don't forget to bring $5 for your yearbooks tomorrow.

5.) GRADE 7 GROUP PHOTO:

Don't forget to bring $10 if you want your Grade 7 group photo tomorrow.

6.) SPORTS DAY:

Dress in your team colours tomorrow! (Blue, red, yellow, and green). The theme is 'KICKING IT OLD SCHOOL!'

I think that the teachers may be asking for a larger amount of money as a wage than they should be, and are taking education and year-end field trips away from kids. On the contrary, the government took things from the teacher's contract away, such as class sizes. All in all, I hope that both the government and the BCTF agree on something and there is no strike!

P.S. I would also like to point out that all the CUPE members have to picket and go on strike, and they both didn't get a vote and aren't part of BCTF.

@Icestone, I don't really think they'd want a raise because Mr. Hong said that the government is offering a raise but the teachers are declining it.

I think that if the don,t strike they can't get what they want but if they strike people don,t get the late year help and planing for next year.

I think we shouldnt have strike because when it is strike the teachers can't get paid well and you can miss important days at school like field trips and other stuff like that. Also id they put strike you will have more homework after the day with no school. Also strike is not a good thing you probably think its good because no school but if you think about it it is not good.

My thought are that its not fair to grade 7's because that miss all there grad things and high school students have exams still and if shay don't understand any thing they aren't allowed to get help so they will fail its not very fair for the students in this situation.

I think going on strike is not smart. I think this because they are just going to be sent back to work anyway. Also the government could just use that against teachers. So I think they should just keep going on strike one day a week.

I don't get the first part of the post.

Going on strike is just a way of dealing/bargaining. When you are buying an item, you try to get the lowest price possible. One way you could do that is to walk away from the seller for a little while until you get contacted by them saying that they will give it to you for blah dollars. That is just like the strategy BC is using right now. In my opinion, doing the full strike could be very good for the teachers because it will influence what the government will give.

I agree with you and disagree. Because the teachers mainly want the contract back or the deal instead of this and that the government is offering

I think it's not fair for the teachers to go on strike, because the students field trips and grad arrangements might be cancelled. I also think the government shouldn't be trying to make the class sizes bigger, since kids wouldn't get all the help they need and the teacher would probably be more stressed. But all in all, I really hope they don't go on full strike, mostly because of grad/field trips.

If there is a full strike the government may want to give back what they took from BCTF and there would be no strike next year. If there was no full strike we would get to go on the year end feild trip. I am fine with both.

My whole point if view of this "situation" is just that both sides want something but no one wants to agree to anything. That's basically it.

I think that the strike is reasonable because if the government is doing something illegal than the teachers should strike.

I think strike is not fair for teachers and students because student might can not go to the field trip. Also government want to make the class size bigger, so teacher don't have many time to teach children. So government should just make going on strike one day a week.

I think that there should be school. Just because the fact that the grade 7's who are graduating don't get a chance to have the full experience. Also we will loose out on out playland trip and our year end field trip.

I think there shoul be school because all the grade 7's are looking forward to end the school year great so they could move on with their lives to the next step, and also we need the education because if this strike keeps going it could effect our future in either a good way or a bad way.

I think the strike is fine. It basically tells the government that they can't take stuff out of contracts illegally. It is good because it shows the teachers care about class sizes, so they are taking a stand and pushing the government to act. Sure we will lose some stuff, but by doing this hopefully the government will come to an agreement. The saying goes "Short term pain for long term gain". By striking the government should fix the contract, and strike will no longer happen.

@ All Students - I am watching the newscast by the BCTF and it looks as though there will be a full scale strike. I'm just waiting to hear when that will start. I'll keep you posted.

I don't mind if the teachers vote for a strike or not because there are pros and cons to getting to end the school year faster.

I do not agree with the full scale strike. I think it is unnecessary and we are missing out on some fun stuff. Especial us grade 7s. Although we will still do a grad ceremony it won't be nearly as much. And we are missing out on the pancake breakfast and playland. We don't get to redo grade 7. (I don't think.) So this only happens once and we are missing out. We have spent 8 years at this school and now that it is coming to an end they go on strike and cancel all the things grade sevens in previous years have had.

I think the strike is the most unfair for all grade 7's and high school students. The grade 7's have to miss a grad ceremony, possibly Play land, we had to move the location of the dance, we didn't finish some topics like family life, math, or science, and we also miss the two other field trips which were the Grouse Grind and the sunrise one. For the high school students, they get way less time for their final exam and whatever other events they had like a trip or something that they go on.
