Tuesday: Stick Handling with Accuracy and Control

Today, the division 4 students learned how to stick handle a whiffle ball with a hockey stick. We did a few practice drills in class and then we played a game of floor hockey. The students were able to practice what they learned about stick handling, in a game setting. Many students learned that it takes a lot of finesse to control the ball with accuracy.

1.) MATH 6 - Complete Chapter 9 Lesson 2 worksheet. (Diagrams must be neat - Use base ten blocks or coins). Complete Questions #1-3 of the textbook.
MATH 7 - Any assigned work.

3.) WRITE A RESPONSE: Read the following statements and indicate which one is biased and which one is unbiased. Be sure to include details that clearly show you understand the difference between the two. Remember, a biased opinion is one that is influenced by an opinion and is often one sided. An unbiased opinion is one that is neutral and does not take a side.

Ok so Mr.Hongs is unbiased because all it says is that Vancouver is the best no resan why so you can decide if you agree or disagree with it so it is unbiased.

First, Hannah's opinion is biased. That is because she has basically chosen a side. She has included her opinion which is okay, but if you want to write an article/news story about this, you would have to be able to not choose a side, or in other words be unbiased. In my opinion, I disagree with her sentence but no offence.

Second of all, Mr.Hong's sentence is also biased! It is because he has basically finalized his opinion and basically he has chosen a side, like I mentioned in my first point in Hannah's sentences. In my opinion I agree with Mr.Hong's sentence.

Finally, lets move onto the last sentence, which isn't biased! It makes the reader choose the side, because it isn't choosing the side for you. It is also giving you information without revealing the writers opinion in this little sentence. Now, it's up to you to decide.

First, I think that Hannah's sentence is biased. The reasons why is because she is choosing a side, so she basically getting her opinion out there. Also, I think she had said that because she loves Justin Bieber. In my opinion I'm not a fan, but that's just me. I think if Hannah were to write an article/news story behind this, she could try to sound neutral. Also, she could include why, how, etc.

Second of all, I think Mr.Hong's sentence is also biased. The reasons why is that he lives in Vancouver. I like Vancouver too! But I wouldn't say it is the best city in the world because I really haven't visited many cities. In that case, I think that if Mr.Hong lived in, lets say Toronto. I think he would say that Toronto is the best city in the world.

Finally, I think the last sentence is unbiased! It is a great example to use if you are looking for an unbiased sentence. A reason why is that he never mentioned his opinion, so he was almost neutral. He had mentioned both sides of the story but is waiting for you to determine your opinion. Like I had said before, it's a great example!

First of all, on Hannah's, it's very biased. Not everyone likes Justin Bieber, some even hate him. She is a girl, girls like Justin Bieber, but boys have a different style.

Secondly, Mr. Hong's is very biased as well, he lives in Vancouver, and been here for several years, got used to it. People down in the States might say that their place is the best. He may like Vancouver, but other people might prefer Hawaii. Mr. Hong's is an opinion. I bet if Mr. Hong moved to Calgary, he would say Calgary is the best.

Obama, says that America and Austrailia has both their cons. and pros. It can be biased and also can't. Say like theirs a bomb in America, dropped by Japan, the foreigners would say that America's having a bad time right now, maybe some Americans still say that America has no cons.

The last one is a bit tricky, I wonder if I got it right. :)

3.) If an opinion is fully neutral, then it is said to be unbiased. However, more and more, it is getting very difficult to find a 100% unbiased opinion.

The first two are both biased because they both just show those peoples opinions. For the Justin Bieber one other people may think that he is awful. So that is biased because it only says he is awesome.
Number 2 is also biased because that is just what Mr. Hong thinks. Others may hate Vancouver and think that it is the worst city on earth. So that is why it is biased.
Number 3 is unbiased because it is saying both countries have good things and some not so good things. So that is why that one is unbiased.

First of all, This statement is 100 % biased. Because it completely favours one side and not any other. Some people may hate Justin Bieber and some may love him. It would be unbiased if Hannah said Justin Bieber is one of the most popular pop singers in the world. He is very talented, but he has some flaws.

The comment by Mr Obama seems less baised as it indicates that there is good and bad for both Australia and Canada.
