TUESDAY: ICE SKATING (TO be updated)

To enhance our physical education program, we buddied up with Mr. Richardson and Mr. Tito's classes and visited the Cloverdale arena for a group ice skate! I was impressed with all of the students and how they behaved in a respectful manner on and off the ice. One student said, "Mr. Hong, check it out! I'm better than I was last year because I've practiced a few more times!" It is so great to see all of them putting the R.O.L.E.S. into action. Upon returning to the school, we reviewed the R.O.L.E.S. so the students could refresh their memories as to what respect looks like inside and outside of Hillcrest Elementary.

IMPORTANT - MAKE SURE YOUR PARENTS SEE THIS INFORMATION
1.) PARENT/TEACHER/STUDENT CONFERENCES: Parents, if I haven't had an opportunity to meet you, or if you would like to come check out the learning that has taken place over the last two months, please click here to choose your preferred date and time slot. I will do my best to accommodate your PREFERRED time slots.

2.) MATH 6: Test tomorrow (Multiples/factors/primes/composites)
MATH 7: Test Corrections. Return signed by your parents.

3.) SCIENCE 6/7: If you did not hand in your Ecosystems conn

4.) LA: Complete your paraphrasing handouts.

5.) POST A RESPONSE:

Explain how the R.O.L.E.S. relates to your life. Some of you may want to reflect on your behaviour today when we had a guest in the classroom.

The roles relates to my life because if I wanna get a job I would have to be very respectful and also making friends because you want to be nice.
I think we should show respect to others because it makes them feel good and makes them feel accepted by society .

The R.O.L.E.S are very important. I go to taekwondo like Gamer. I learn discipline respect. I also learn other stuff to. We need responsibility for our learning and every where we go. We also need to respect other peoples property. And treat people you wanna be treated. By SPB

R.O.L.E.S. are a big part of your life. "Treat others how you want to be treated". That is a famous quote you probably heard before. At my soccer practice, my coach always says to respect him because we always fool around. We also need to respect other's property. I have a habit of always taking peoples stuff for a joke. In class today, I was one of the people who were fooling around. I hope everyone in our class learns a lesson from what happened today.

The R.O.L.E.S are really important in our lives. The R.O.L.E.S. relate to my life because in soccer on the back of our jerseys it says respect and it means to respect everyone you play, everyone you play with, and your coach. It is almost like the R.O.L.E.S. I think we should show respect to others because if you respect them they are most likely going to respect you back. I was one of the students of the students that was fooling around and I hope to improve my behaviour.

We should respect others because if we did not we would be hurt and we would have been really upset of what people say to others.

Everyone deserves respect. Teachers, classmates, parents, random people. We all need it to be happy. The roles includes respect, but what makes it important is that it includes the KINDS of things that we're suppose to respect. For example, respecting others, learning, your environment and yourself. These are all some of the most important things that we should respect. Respect is very important for everyone. For example, if someone falls down, you help them. This is respecting others. If you have a project, and you put effort and do more than you should, this is respecting your learning. Whenever you recycle, this is respecting your environment. And when you choose a banana over a chocolate bar for snack, this is respecting yourself.

R.O.L.E.S. effect me in my life because in baseball if a kid strikes out or makes a big error, you can't get mad at him because then he will be sad and less focused, and if you were the one striking out or erroring then would you like it if someone got super mad? Also like what @Yogi Bear said when I played soccer it had respect on the jersey, so you also have to respect who you are playing against. Today my behaviour was ok, but could use some improvement.

The way that the roles relate to my life relate to the world around me one example of what im talking about is respecting others. it would be like holding the door for someone else to go in wherever they need to go. respecting my learning (as in school.) is another thing that the roles connect to in my life. My example would be not throwing your homework in the garbage can and saying my dog did it, so you would have an excuse to get out of doing homework. Respecting my environment would be like not littering in a public park. (not saying i did any of these things they are just examples.) and last but not least respecting myself. That would look like you not hitting yourself if you made a simple mistake on spelling in a spelling project. In conclusion I think showing your respect for others is important because it will add up toward the amount of respect they treat you with.

The R.O.L.E.S relate to my life, because when you respect others and teachers around you, you will probably get a better grade on your report card. Adding on to this, it is also really important to be respectful when you are applying for a job. If you are disrespectful during the interview, then you will probably act that way to the customers. We should show respect to others because its polite. Some times respect is the difference between war and peace. For example, if one of the presidents from one country, killed the president from another country, then war would begin. And all this would happen just because of that one president. This is just one reason why we should be respectful to others. We can all do our part by respecting one another, to slowly make the world a better place.

"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you"-THE GOLDEN RULE. I think that the roles are important because if you are not respectful to others they won't be respectful to you. Also respect is something that is earned, so if you lend someone something be honest if you lost it or broke it because they will be happy that you told them and didn't lie. Respected people go further in life. If you were a manager and you had to chose between someone who wasn't respecting your work space, and had their feet on your desk or, someone who was respectful of your work space and had their feet on the ground, and sitting nicely in their chair.

I think that R.O.L.E.S relates to my life, because when you do not have respect others around you will not have respect to you and possibly others. I also think this because when you do not have respect it will be harder to succeed in life. For example if I am a teenager and looking for a nice job and they don't pick me because of my past. I went to jail for 3 months, I have a habit of drinking, all of my facebook pictures ( I don't even want to talk about those), and because of my attitude. All of these do not follow roles. When you drink you have to 19 I am only 15 that does not follow the law. I went to jail witch ment I got caught not following the law. My facebook pictures people post descusting things. And my attitude is disrespectful to others.

The roles relates to everyone's life all the time. It does not matter were you are or not. For example Respect, you respect any visitors and other people with respect and you will be given it back. For example if you shove someone on the ground and leave, that's not showing respect. And as kids we should always be respect our adults and our piers.

We need roles like we need a brain. With out the roles we would all be nasty and horrible to each other and have no respect for anything. I think that the way other kids acted yesterday was was very disrespectful to our teacher and to the princable who was in our class.

We need to show respect to each other because when we show them respect they will show us some to.

Roles. the roles is everywhere you go because you should always be respecting others. The reason we should show respect to others is because how ever you treat someone is how you want to be treated back. And if you treat everyone with respect you will have a lot of friends

You should always respect people because you'll get it back and you will be recognized as a good person. You should also have respect to yourself because if you didn't, people won't want to hang out around you because your always in bad mood. You also need to respect your environment and keep it clean, so that others don't have to clean it up.

The roles are implanted so that we don't have a bunch of children runnin around acting like monkeys in class, they teach you to respect those things around you and help form nicer people. Guests should be treated with respect and not like their another child.
