TUESDAY: Integer Soccer!

We began the day with integer soccer, adding a bit of fun math to our physical activity. In book club, we viewed some examples of excellent responses by students from Mrs. Middleton's class, and continued with our blogging.

In math, we had a friendly competition to practice our integer subtraction and dispel any misconceptions or common mistakes found in integer subtraction. Then, students continued working on their integer projects.

In the afternoon, we developed some code of conduct for working with the Keva Planks, and brainstormed some fundraising ideas for addressing the child labor and human trafficking issues we have been learning about.

1.) MATH: Complete these integer subtraction practice questions via Google Form.

2.) FRENCH: Work on your French video projects. They are DUE at the end of class on Thursday (you will need to stay after school to finish them on Thursday if you are not finished by the end of class on Thursday)

3.) ART/SOCIALS: If you have any ideas for how our photography could be used for fundraising (to help an organization that addresses child labor/ human trafficking issues), please submit them here.

4.) BOOK CLUB:

I chose this organization because it is saying NO to child labour in domestic work. what the unique part is about this organization is that they explain in detail about child labour, the nature and scale of child labour and domestic work, and the child labour problem ect...

what makes this organization different from other organizations is that most of them are just saying that they want to stop it before it gets worse but this organization think one step ahead and tells you how to protect you child from being sold into child labour.

the organization could use the money to even further look into child labour possibly put in more info about child labour and they will put most of the money if not all of it to free children from slavery.

This organization is unique because it is run by a special person we talk about a lot, Mr. Craig Keilburger.
I chose it because this is a very inspiring program to me because he had lots of spinsters and is only 30, and in the videos I have seen, he is a very inspiring and inspired person.

I think they help places like India, that have a lot of child labour, and the money will fundraiser to make schools so kids can get out if child labour and go to these schools.

Because it is an organization that helps stop child labour and sends things to the helpless or say poor. And that it is ran Mr. Craig Keilburger.
I chose this organization because of how Mr. Keilburger is a very and thougfull person.
This orginization goes out to places that have the worst poor family's and child labour, and make schools so all the poor kids could get a good education and slow down the endless poverty cycle.

I think we should donate to this organization because unlike major organizations such as free the children it only focuses on one subject which is water. Instead of the money being broken up and each subject only gets a certain amount of money all of the money we raise will be sent to only one place and only one subject gets the money so that they will be recieving more money so they can result in more change. They help areas with unclean water and help build wells and water pumps so that they can have clean purified water.

Why did I choose this organization? because this website is reliable and you can donate to help free the children and it also, tells you what is happening in the world about child labor. I think this website is unique because it is a Canadian website and I think there are really trying to make a change. I think the biggest different is that it does it a lot of country's around the world and it is a Canadian website and you could get involved, telling you what to do.

I think the organization would use the money to help child protection, education, "every one" campaign, nutrition and health, HIV and ADIS, livelihoods, rights and participation, and children lead the way. Secondly, they help Asia, Africa, Canada, and Latin America/Caribbean. They have many different projects going on at once so they have a take action campaign in Africa and they have no child born to die and no child born without a change.

I chose this one because this is child labour and like everything goes under the category "child labour" So why not? It is unique because almost everyone goes to that sight I see it as commercials and news articles. It is different because not everyone looks at other sights but this one is more popular and people with get attended to it.
I think they might use the money for children hospitals and maybe taxes to the government he will want money and last but not least maybe the the homeless.

they are making homemade rugs and other things that you can buy. I choose them because they have so many ways that you can tell your friends and family. I think that if we donate to this cause we can make a change.

It is in south Asia in the carpet factory's. they are using the money they get to help stop all the factory's and the poverty they have so kids in poverdy there kids aren't going to be in it to.

I chose this website because it has so many things to do for saving the children. This website is very focused onto pretty much one thing and that is freeing the children from slavery and labour. In my opinion the thing that is unique about this is that it has so many ideas for freeing the children, and it is sort of like what we have at our school the think we team! In my opinion this website is different from other websites because they are not paying any attention to anything else other than freeing the children.

In my opinion I think the organization will help a place like India because India has a lot of people in slavery and the organization will try to make a school with all the money and they will free the children then the children will have a good education.

I chose this Organization because if you read the website, they sound very nice. "The ILO encourages this tripartism within its constituents and member States by promoting a social dialogue between trade unions and employers in formulating, and where appropriate, implementing national policy on social, economic, and many other issues." ILO started in 1919 when a war happened.
"The unique tripartite structure of the ILO gives an equal voice to workers, employers and governments to ensure that the views of the social partners are closely reflected in labour standards and in shaping policies and programmes." This means that this organization gives a word to everyone so they can figure something out. The ILO helps people know their rights, encourage employment opportunities. I think that this organization will try to help poor countries like Pakistan or India because their is a lot of child labour going around in those areas.

I chose this link because it tell you about what is happening around the world. Also, I like it because is says where they work and who they are. This company would use they money to have the children's voice heard and have them treated the way they are supposed to be, by our right. It works in over 120 countries .

The CLC is an organization that involves themselves in: testifying before state and federal legislatures and agencies on child labor, presenting comments in response to regulatory initiatives, hosting conferences, forums, and briefings, creating and distributing educational and public awareness materials, initiating research and conducting campaigns and media events. They are supported by the American Federation of Teachers, which means this website is reliable.

This organization is called Born To Be Free. It is unique because it focus's mainly on just kids in poverty, and how to help them. It's different from other organizations because the Born To Be Free organization also has World Vision, which is a organization where you can sponsor a child. By sponsoring a child you keep them from child labour, and help him/her with education and food to eat. The countries Born To Be Free helps are the third world countries. The project that they have, as I said is sponsoring a child. You can help them on the amount of money you donate. If you donate $150, you will save a child from child labour. If you donate $10, you will provide them health care.

I chose this website because its a reliable website, not many people wrote about it, and you can donate directly online. I think whats unique about it is that it only supports poor countries. What's different its that it focuses on the countries that really need the help.

I think the organization would use the money to raise awareness of the problem and they would try and maybe buy supplies so that if someone is rescued from child labor they can feed them cloth them and keep them health. They work in the countries in Africa, some countries in Asia and the Middle East.

I support this as Craig and Marc is famous Canadians and their association gets a lot of good press.

I would support the Rural China effort with the Clean water project.

Because I personally think that child poverty can be resolved – when they are healthy they can attend school and will not need to work in labor camps making household items or carpets and shoes.

I picked this orginization because it is highly against child labour and this is basically for a lot of rights that this link is supporting against.
If you donated about anywhere from $5 to $20 dollars you could be saving a kids life. Or you could be helping with health care for medicines

I chose this website because not only do they help to prevent Child Labour but they also provide ways to stop wars involving children and human trafficking. This organization was started by a 12 year old in 1995, even though this person was 12, he managed to start something almost revolutionary. I think that Free the Children in my opinion will use our fundraising earnings to help possibly build schools, provide food in several countries, and support clean water.

I chose this website because I have heard about and Tera Teng told me about it. Also, it is definetly a reliable source since the organization has been popular since 1996 or something.

I want to support UNICEF because they help support kids in other countries with education, protection, medical, emergency, and advocacy. I know that there are other organizations out there but UNICEF will help not only with JUST protection but many more. It also helps with building new buildings after they get destroyed etc. UNICEF is all over in 190 countries and helps kids regain the health they need to survive. Many kids around the world are starving or in pain or need medicine. Well, UNICEF can make them back to normal and they will be healthy children from the medicine and food.

I want to support this fundraiser because it helps children with protection education etc. It's in over 100 countries, and as you know hundreds of children are going hungry and are in pain and in need of medicine this organization helps those children thats why I chose this organization.
