Tuesday: 'PSST!' Your School! Your Culture! Your Safety!

The Gr. 6/7 students were lucky to see the 'PSST' presentation today. They are an organization that promotes safety among Surrey youth. They work exclusively with the Surrey School District and their motto on the banner of their web page is. "Your School. Your Culture. Keep it Safe!" Their presentation taught students about the different outlets and resources available to them for getting help if their safety is ever a concern. They do a lot of work with bullying issues. 1.) MATH 6 - Complete the Chapter 9 Worksheet #5 (Show all your work.

QUESTION: If you were given a gift from your parents in the amount of $96.21 and you wanted to invest in the 'YADAYADA' company, ABOUT how many shares would you be able to purchase? Assume that the 'YADAYADA' company is currently trading at $10. Explain your thought process in words and complete the question. (Hint: Use the round up and round down method to give the range)

MATH 7 - Any assigned work. Visit your math teacher's webpage.

2.) WRITE A RESPONSE #1: Visit Rainbow Dash's website and write some comments on the artwork you see on her page. She would love it if you left her comments on at least 3 of her images. After learning about digital art in class, she asked her parents for a Bamboo Drawing tablet for her birthday so she could further develop her digital art skills!

3.) WRITE A RESPONSE #2: Post your second introductory paragraph only after reviewing the structure with your handout and proofreading it on your own. Remember, everyone should have different types of intro paragraphs saved to their Google Document. You will be working with these tomorrow.

4.) PE - Today we worked on dribbling drills. Watch this video to see what Jeremy Lin does to improve his dribbling abilities.

I can round 96.21 to 100 and divide it by 10 which equals 10 or I could round 96.21 to 90 and divide it by 10 which equals 9 but 100 is closer to 96.21 so lets go with that.

I could buy about 10 shares from 'YADAYADA' company

New Year Resolution No.2

[I hate all the loud noises on New Year's Day especially when people go outside and shoot fireworks and disturb me while I am trying to sleep, everyone yelling Happy New Year!! it drives me insane! and I also forgot I hate having family over and having my house crowded. Just kidding I love the new year it is the best when I get to stay up really late and bang pots together it is so fun and everyone coming over to have new years dinner it is a blast!.]( Now I am going to talk about my new year resolution instead of just new year and that is getting better grades.)<I am going to complete this by trying harder in every subject, try to be as committed to school as I can and I will study hard.>

What are you doing! that is my homework! This year my new years resolution is to do my homework and to not play as much video games, but that will be hard for me but it is a goal and I will complete that goal so hopefully that resolution will happen.

[Ok, you’ve got a choice, pencil and paper or this iPad. “Um...I choose pencil and paper”. If you said that, you are the opposite of me and I will have never chose that. ]<But...since it’s a New Year and 2013, I have decided on not using electronics but to kill trees because I use electronics too much, my laptop is on almost 24/7 and my iPod is always alerting me colbster01 liked your post.> (Ways that can help me accomplish this hard goal is to, go to the library and read more books, write and draw more stories, and spend more time outside than sitting in my room, my eyes glued to the screen.)

Revised (General Remarks)
[Everyone likes using electronics, but not a lot of people use them as much as me. No much people stare at their computer screens almost 24/7.] <Since I am that kind of person, this year I am going to try to reduce it. Some things that could help me accomplish this goal is to read more, write more, and play outside more (get more physical).

Have you ever picked a fight with your brothers? Have you every made a New Years resolution like that. Well sense we are the topic my resolution is to stop havering fights with my brothers. So no more fighting, picking on each other, and no more complaining to them when they are baby sitting. Did you know that every year in New York on new years eve they do a count down as a big colar full ball drops. Well I stay up and shout happy new year and then I make my resolution. [New Years is such a bother; you have to prepare, find a proper countdown website and send invitations to everyone. They take so much time to do all for just one day. 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 HAPPY NEW YEARS! is what I heard in the last 10 seconds of 2012. Personally people in my family don't usually make goals for the new year,but this year I am. My New Years Resolution is to get better grades in school,i will try to achieve my goal by - When there is a test in a subject instead of studding at the last minute I will study threw out the week, also i will try my hardest in every subject, And try to be More organized which i think would affect your grade also.

Fats from junk food trigger the brain to want more food, This effect can last for several days. Another fact is that more than 350 million people have diabetes and almost all of the time its from eating way too much sugar (and the sugar not digesting properly). That is why I want to eat more Healthy this year. In order to do that I will have to stop going to so many fast-food restaurants, Add more vegetables to the food I eat, and try not to eat too much sugar.

I rounded 96.21 up to 100 and rounded 96.21 down to 90. if you round uo you would get to buy 10 shares. If you rounded down you would get to buy 9 shares. So you would be able to but 9-10 shares of the YADAYADA company.

You don't need resolutions. Resolutions don't help you. Actually they do. They help you make yourself a better person. And not many people make them. My new year's resolution is to make sure I complete all of my homework in order to get good grades. The three steps I am going to do is 1be more organized 2 check my backpack everyday to make sure I have everything. And 3 complete as much as I can in school so I have less at home.

ten goes into ninety 9 time and 10 goes ito 100 10 times so its between 9 and ten but the price is lower than 100 but higher than 90 so you could buy 9 shares.

I would either round 96.21 to 90 or 100 to be divisible by 10. 90 divide by 10 is 9. 100 divide by 10 is 10. The range is 9-10. So I could get about 9-10 shares of YAMADA. You could actually get ONLY 9 because you only have 96.21.

Why do I need to improve? im perfect the way I am. Just kidding there is always ways to improve weather its mentally or physically. my New Years resolution is to get better grades and to accomplish that I will pay attention more in class, for example I will not talk when the teacher is talking. And secondly I will try my hardest on tests, worksheets, etc. Lastly I will look over my work carefully when I complete an assignment.

[Ok, Would you rather be doing math and doing it early or just say this is work for Tomorrow and Play Minecraft? Well I am that type of guy that just says it is not Today's work and plays LoL,Minecraft, or Combat arms]. (My resolution is to work harder in math, I actually would like to not be able to just say I am going to go play games but actually have to do it! Ok this is probably SO interesting!) <But what I have planned to do is when I am told about something #1 do it the day before if I can #2 Work harder to do better on what I am doing and #3 pay more attention to what I am doing and for E.g on a worksheet read all the boxes so I won't have to ask a question>.

One of the main reasons for making New Years Resolutions are to set goals, and to keep reminding yourself what those goals are. Having clearly goals are the first step towards achieving them. This is valid for self improvement; and positive changes in your life. Most people want to lose weight, especially after eating too much after Christmas - goals would be to eat healthier and exercise more. Having those goals written down and even telling other people about them ensure that you do not lose sight of them; and allows for peer pressure to keep you on track if you should give up on the goals.

You may never know how to use your time wisely, or always procrastinate so that when you you’re doing a test at school you are distracted by the children on the playground outside and soon enough the teacher says to bring the test papers to her and you aren’t even finish! That’s just one of the many things that could happen if you aren’t productive with your time. Procrastinating and not being productive with your time, is a bad habit for almost everyone.. do it all the time. It is hard to stop it once you’re constantly doing it but there are are a few steps that I will follow to be productive with my time, find different ways so I don’t procrastinate, find the things that I am most distracted by and remember that, do the task I am supposed to do right after I am told to.
