Wednesday: The Blogging B.R.G.R.R.R. and the Learning Process

Today we learned more about the blogging and learning process. The students came up with the acronym - B.R.G.R.R.R. to help them remember what is required of their responses.

~The Grouse Grind ~
In my opinion the Grouse grind was fun, but at the same time tough. My legs were really sour I felt like I couldn't walk anymore but I kept pushing myself and saying to myself "you can do this". This year I got 1 hour and 14 minutes which is better the last year I guess but my goal was to get 46 minutes. Next time we go I will try and achieve my goal. I think that I could improve on my breaks
because I would take a 5 minute break each time so that would take minutes off of my goal, so next time I will do my best and try to jog up the mountain in less then a hour!. I learned that I should try harder to achieve my goal so that I don't get a hour again.

i learned that from the grouse grind field trip is that goals that you couldent think you where able to do before you can do after some time. for example i dared myself to make it to the top of the grouse mountan in 2:05 and i had a time of 2:04 and when i reached the top i never felt more allive! i felt like king of the hill the expirence was amazing

Going on the Grouse Grind was a rough experience. I really hated how my legs got heavier every step on the mountain, because of my legs and how long it took to climb up, I disliked going up for the field trip. When I finished, I didn't feel accomplished but relieved of the very long journey. I thought about how much I could've done to beat the average time like taking shorter breaks or bringing a camel-pack because I was only 11 minutes from beating the time. I finished in 2 hours and 11 minutes but I made a new goal. It is only to beat my previous record, it doesn't matter if I'm slow, I just want to improve. The things I learned is to be more efficient and more carful.

Completing the Grouse Grind was the most amazing feeling in the whole world it was hard but I pushed throught to make it to the top.Personaly I enjoy a little work out but I did not achive my goal of finishing under an hour. To improve I could take shorter breaks and wear gloves so at aome parts I could climb to go faster. I learned that I am pretty healthy and I like a little challange.

Completing the grouse grind was an awesome feeling but the worst part was I got tired the first quarter and I was like what! Only the quarter mark. But I kept going to the top. I took around 8 breaks and 5 water breaks. I didn't beat my goal which was my brothers goal 1:10 I got 1:13 but I still did good. I think i need to improve on having a steady paste next time.

Going up Grouse Grind was great. I loved it it was so fun but yet so hard. It was the best feeling in the world when I reached the top, it feels like a great accomplishment. My goal was to be under 1:15 so I was proud when I got the time of 1:10. I learned not to quit even though something is hard, fight until the end because it is all worth it when your done.

Honestly, doing the Grouse Grind was AWESOME! The Grind is a very challenging hike up the Grouse mountain, the average time for people to go up it is 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours. The reason why I love the Grind, is that it's a challenge, it's not easy, it's hard. I liked it so much, I got an annual pass! I have done it four times, but yesterday I took my time going up to see where I could go a bit faster or slower. I mainly went up it with Cole Mcgrath. My time was 1 hour and 2 minutes. However, I know I can do better by taking quicker breaks. My goal for next time is to go under an hour. I learned to never give up and to work hard for my goals.

I thought the Grouse Grind was fun. Its all stairs and rocks all the way up Grouse mountain. Its 2.9 km from bottom to top and is very tiring. The best part is when you get to the top of the hill and feel like you just climbed Mt. Everest. My goal was to complete it in under 1:30 minutes but I did it in 1:25. I climbed with my friend. I think next time I should practise more so I can beat my time that I had this time. I learned that everyone is capable of conquering anything they just need to try.

In my opinion the Grouse Grind (GG) was fun and challenging at the same time because the steps were so high some of them were just huge rocks that I had to climb up. And I thought it was fun because it was a good experience and I even beat my time from last year by 8 minutes. And what I learned was that if you can't run as long as others then you should just take your time like I did. The most important thing I learned was that you have to work hard to achieve your goals.

When I did the Grouse Grind it was the hardest thing I had ever done in my life so far. I enjoyed the hike somewhat but getting to the top was by far the best and my favorite part with all my friends chanting "Colby Colby" and then the teacher giving me my time ( time:80mins goal: 90 mins) and at the top we even got to see grizzly bears. What I could have done to improve would to take less breaks like instead of 10-15 breaks maybe only 6 or 7.

I sadly could not do the grouse grind because I was sick. So instead I took the gondola up to the top of grouse mountain. The view was amazing. Everything below you got smaller the higher you went up. When we got to the top of the mountain we had to wait 45 minutes until the first people who

I learned that its your personal best not a race. I had fun and when I reach the top I was relived. When I was in the clouds (witch was almost the whole time) it got hard to see so I took more time

Accomplished the grouse grind came up. After that people started coming up in 2s or 3s. I had so much fun cheering everybody on. Next time we do the grouse grind I am ssssooooo climbing it.

Yesterday, I went on the Grouse Grind with a few other classes. Three things I enjoyed were, the beautiful scenery, the support of my best friend, and achieving my goals. Firstly, I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful scenery. There were tall trees, some with rough textures, and some with smooth. Almost everywhere going up, there was sand-like dirt just below my our feet. And once we got near the top, there were glowing rays of sunshine barely peeking through the trees. Secondly, I really enjoyed the support of my best friend. Almost every time we took a break,she would say “Let’s keep going we’re almost at the top!”, and I did the same for her. When you feel like you want to stop, it’s nice having a friend by your side supporting you every step of the way. Lastly, I enjoyed achieving my goals. Many people had said that their goals were to finish the Grind in a certain amount of time, but I didn’t. My goal was to finish the Grouse Grind in general. It’s hard enough knowing you’re not even halfway there, and to be on a time limit is just a pain. Although, I did finish with a positive attitude, so it really makes me motivated for next time, I might even set a goal time. The first thing I learned from this experience, (And past) is, I would actually keep a positive attitude. Mainly because last year when I went I was pretty negative about everything. After staying motivated and having a good time, it also inspired the other parent too! (We only knew because they told us). All in all I had a great time, and I would DEFINATELY do it again. c:

The Grouse Grind is a tough trail that requires 110% effort to complete. It was challenging for me but after I was done I felt really happy but I was happier to find out that I completed it in under an hour, however, I did go 1 minute over what I got last time which was 55 minutes. I achieved my goal and finished in under an hour. My goal for next time is to finish in under 55 minutes. To improve my time I plan on drinking loads of water and eating healthier.

I learned that goal setting is important and that you can do anything if you try.

Yesterday, our 6/7class went to Grouse Mountain to do the Grouse Grind.At the beggining, I was so excited and nervous at the same time. When we were allowed to start climbing up the Mountain, I began by speed walking. But after a liitle while I got very tired so I just walked slowly. The first quarter of the Grouse Grind, I waled up with Issabel. The next half os the time I was with Maddison. When I took each step I felt like falling over. there were so many times during the Gring that I thought I should quit, but I never gave up. I still had a great time because, while going up, I got to be with Madison and talk to her. I kept taking little breaks because I don't usaully hike, and I was very exhuasted. When I go to the halfway point, I don't have anymore hiking left. A little bit after the halfway point, I found a walking stick, which was very helpful because I needed something to lean on. Soon I knew I arrivbed at the top because because I heard people screaming and shouting. When I got to the top, April was right there and came up to me and congrasulated me. (Since she was sick she didn't do the grind so she was very curious about what it was like) After that I went up to Mrs. Wilson and she said my time was 1:29(1 hour and 29 minutes). When I looked down and saw people who were still not even past the half way point, I felt like I accomplished the biggest thing ever. I think that next time I should pace myself, take more breaks and bring my ear buds and ipod so that I can listen to music.

~Revised~

Yesterday, I did the Grouse Grind. I enjoyed it very much and I will definitely do it again. Firstly, before I started climbing up the mountain me and my two friends decided that we will all stay together, but that didn’t really work. They have a different speed than me so, I went at my speed. Something I did realize was that going at your own speed made it very easy. Honestly, climbing up the mountain was not the most easy or fun thing to do. But, Once I reached the top I was so happy. Secondly, next time when I go to the mountain again, there are a few things that I want to do. This time I packed a lighter backpack than I did last time, but it was still quite heavy. I had packed a stainless steel water bottle so that added alot of weight. Also, my lunch was heavy because there was alot of food in my lunch kit, so next time I need to remember to pack something light weight. Something else that I want to work on is taking shorter breaks. This time after every couple of steps I would stop, which would bring my heartrate down again, and I would have to build it up again. Another thing I want to look out for, is keeping my water bottle in my hand so I don’t have to sit down, and then put down my backpack just to take a sip of water. Thirdly, when I go to the Grouse Grind again, I really want to motivate myself and just keep on pushing myself until the very end, but not pushing myself too much! Lastly, I want to thank Mr.Hong for talking me into doing the Grouse Grind, because I was very close to not going. But Because of Mr.Hong’s “magical words” I feel so accomplished now.

When you go up that mountain, you feel a ton of pride. It's hard but amazing, exilerating but beautiful. When you get to the top, that intense moment when reliefe floods through you, you struggle to make the last few steps. Your friends are at the top. you relax because you know all that's left is a lunch break and and a gondola ride down. I learned that when you put your mind to something, you can almost always do it. up on those rocks, you feel like you could touch the sky, and it's all worth it.

~THE GROUSE EXPERIENCE~

On September 25th, everyone in grade 6/7 went hiking. Hiking, on the Grouse Mountain. When we first passed the gate, I sped up, with SpongeBob and Gary. And then I got sort of tired and took a rest, they went ahead of me. When I looked back, there was Carson and I kept walking but then he passed me and got far, far away. A few moments later I met Oliver. He yelled at me to wait up for him. I took a little rest on a rock and soon enough, he was right beside me. I took another rest and Oliver also got ahead of me. I was walking up by me self and came along another friend, Chase. Me and him walked together for a while and met Oliver. His bag "bailed" on him, or at least that is what he said. WOW, I took another rest and they also passed me. Around they 3/4 I met them again. We walked up together, no one passed me. We were walking up then Chase yelled "WERE HERE!!!" I saw the top too and we raced to it. I won and I got 5th place with the time 1:02. I felt great at the top, like I can do it again. We had to wait an hour for the last person to come. I wanted water so bad, I didn't even have a sip because Aaron's mom said she would carry it with her stuff too. So it meant that I had no food or drinks during the climb. I waited half an hour for her and ran and asked her for my lunch kit. I ate and we cheered the others who were still climbing. After everyone came, we went to the Grizzly Bear habitat, we saw a bear swimming in the pond. I am just happy I accomplished my goal, to be in the top 10. I learned that if you always try your hardest, you can do anything. Next time I should carry my own backpack and to bring ice water.

I did not go on the Grouse Grind field trip
becuase I do not really like to do those types of things.
But I learned that it might not be so bad.

I learned that the Grouse grind is just when you think of it, Pain! it took me my mom Matt and Daniel 2 hours to finish the grind. We took around 20 stops for a drink and to rest,except we all enjoyed it! it was great. at the end we got what we deserved and had a nice big lunch. Well also it was such a big relief when we got to the finish i felt like i climbed Mount Everest!

my goal for next time is to beat 1:30 because i know i can take less breaks and the goal for this year was to beat 2:00 but i could not complete that and i got 2:06 when i heard my time i was stumped but so relived at how i did it for my first time but i didn't beat my goal

I learned that you should never give up and keep on trying to achieve your goals. Once i got near the top and saw the blue sky through the cold dark FOGGY FOG, i was so relived to have reached near the top of the mountain. but the Grouse Grind was WAY harder than i thought it would be. i think it started to get harder and harder when i was near the top of the mountain. once i got to the top i had the rest of my lunch and did a bunch of wandering around. but if you keep on trying you can achieve all of your goals that you are wanting to acopmlish.

The Grouse Grind
The Grouse Grind was hard but fun. Next time I do it I will try to achive one of my goals and that is to take shorter breaks, try to jog up the mountain, and try to make it up in less than an hour. I would do the grouse grind again at the end of the year. At first I didnt want to do it but then when I was walking up the mountain I did. I learned that I should do the grouse grind more.

I think that completing the Grouse Grind was amazing at a time of 56 minutes. I think that, that was my first time doing it I hope for next time to get under 50 minutes and maybe so e day be the World record holder for the Grouse Grind. It was so much fun climbing and stepping over bi rocks and stairs. I learned doing things like that builds your cardiovascular health
