Tuesday: Food Bank Donations

The Holiday season can be difficult for many families. Your challenge, and I hope that you all accept it, is to bring at least one non-perishable food item to school tomorrow to donate to the Food Bank. We will collect all items and I will drop everything off at the local food bank. If we are able to collect at least 27 items tomorrow, our holiday event (that you are all looking forward to) will happen on the last day of school!

1.) Math 6: On paper, do estimates and calculations for each of companies you selected. You must use the closing price for each stock and the number of shares you purchased of each company. SHOW ALL YOUR WORK IN A CLEAR AND ORGANIZED MANNER.
Math 7: Worksheet 3.4

2.) ART - Bring the following to school tomorrow in preparation for our 'HOLIDAY WREATH PROJECT':
a.) 2 wire coat hangers
b.) Any decorations you want to put on your holiday wreath (Eg. Ribbons, tinsel, pine cones, ornaments, etc)

3.) POST A RESPONSE: If you had the power to solve any global problem/issue that you have read about or seen on the news, which one would you choose and why? Provide at least 2 reasons to support your position.

If I had the power to solve any global issue it would be Poverty. I would choose to end this crisis because a lot of people die every year because they lack the five things that all people need to survive and if you think about it all these problems branch out form poverty and I would also want to end this because when ever I'm driving with my mom and I see someone homeless it makes me feel so sad that I feel like crying.

If I could solve a global problem it would probably be lack of water. Millions of people live with barely any water and the little water they do have the women have to walk miles to get. Most of the water isn't gurantee safe to drink. If I could solve this issue the women and girls wouldn't have to walk nearly as far as they do now. Also the water they drink wouldn't be not always safe to drink. It would be filtered so it is safe for them. These are two of the reasons I would fix the lack of water problem in many of the poor countries.

If I had the power to stop a global issue I would chose wars because 1.) without war the whole world would be peacefull and 2.) less lives would be lost due to war and pointless greed of overtaking others land.

If I had the power to change a global issue in this world is war. I want to reduce or even wipe war out. War kills a lot of people and destroys a lot of countries. They do war because they are greedy and jealous of out the opposing country has. If there wasn't war, it would be peaceful and you don't need to worry about someone shooting you while you're sleeping.

@ Judy Moody (not Div4 Student) - Yes. Do an estimate and calculation for every company. So you should do a total of 18 multiplication questions. 2 for every company (1 estimate and 1 calculation)

If I had the power to solve any global issue it would be human rights because some people in this country or around the world do not have the rights that we have how I might change it? well, I would first try to stop to this and I would create a paper like the charter of rights and freedoms and make it for the world so there would be no people be discriminatory. Secondly, I would then try to make everyone even so that means everyone should have the same rights as anyone. Lastly, I would clean the world up a little so that people can live better and every would be free to do every thing that is not against the law.

If I had the power I would fix the global food problem because so people don't have food or they don't have much food so they have to go to a food bank sad. Firstly I would tell schools to have more food drives and make it a challenge so more food comes in for the banks. Secondly I would go and give out food to home less people so they can eat. Lastly I would give people more jobs so they can make money and survive.

Firstly, I would end world poverty. Because everybody deserves a safe shelter to live in and to have food on their table. We are so fortunate to have a nice home and food. Because they are essential to us and we take it for granted. While the people in poverty are suffering with no food and living on the streets.

Another worldwide issue I would end is war. If there was world peace there will be less deaths, and relief. Because it's scary thinking that any day a country can go into our country and start a war. But it's possible. In other places in the world there is war. War = death, anger, stress, sadness, and hoping.

If i had powers to do that i would change, well try to change lots of the car crashes because every day that is like all you hear and see also some can be really bad.So now my next one would be to stop upping the taxes because they are so much that you need like $10 to buy a $7 thing.

Yes, here is the criteria:

1.) Colours: black, white, yellow, blue, and red.
2.) Onomatopoeia must be outlined with borders (2-3 borders) If this doesn't make sense, take a look at http://hillcrestdiv4.weebly.com/lichtenstein-onomatopoeia-art.html Check out the basketball one that says 'SWOOSH'.
3.) Use lines to exaggerate the onomatopoeia to show where the sound is coming from

If I could solve any global issue it would be world hunger/poverty. I don't think it is fair that, just because they were born in a different country, they don't get as many needs as they need. For example, their are leaders in the country's that take all the money from the country's people. It isn't fair that in other places around the world are starving and dying, yet we get more than enough food to eat here. It's really sad to see and hear about.

Firstly I would end world poverty because everyone should be aloud to have a home, have food, have proper clothes, etc. Also all of us take too many things for granted and we don't think of how lucky we are, and all we think about is, "i want this i want this can u get me this" thats probably not what you guys/girls would do but it's something like that.

I think that I would probably fix abuse/bullying/labels, Abuse because at school and home kids are not being treated the way the should have been, mostly because the children did something wrong or have done something that group or person does not like. Bullying because it is the reason of many deaths and depression, and if we could fix a lot of problems, some small and some huge.
Labeling because I find labels just downright stupid, I don't get why the minute you step foot in school, you a "popular" or a "nerd" or even a "emo/scene" If these labels and many more were fixed then a lot of people would get along.

The Global problem I would like to solve is the financial crisis in Greece.
This will ensure that families can stay together; at this time middle class families that can no longer afford to feed their kids have to drop them off at orphanges.
At this time the country does not have enough money to buy medicine for the hospitals.

If I had the power to stop a issue it would the the global problem of global children starvation. One way I would solve this problem is setting up food centres for the children in different country's like Africa India and many more places! And have people monthly donate. I would change this because a lot of people die of starvation

If I had the power to solve any global problem in the world I would pick to solve world hunger. The most frustrating thing about world hunger is that it could be solved so easily by countries taking tiny bits of what they spend on weapons and their military, and using it to feed people who need it most. Another solution to this issue would be to have the whole world become vegetarian. Many people (like me) believe that all the food that we use for feeding cows and chickens for meat could be used for people who don't have enough money to buy food. This would completely solve world hunger.

If I had the ability to solve any world wide problem, I would help the world become a smarter and an eco-friendly place. People of this planet have become smart but they all stopped because of a couple of things. These things are television, internet, video-games and time itself for being unpredictable most of the time. One way I would solve this is that I would send out pre releases of special games like the Walking Dead or Heavy Rain, these games are based on your choices just like life, making people smarter leads to good things like learning how to make people cautious about thing and making new scientists to improve the world. One other way to solve this is finding a new source of power like oil but more eco-friendly like learning to make iron or any metal into a burning source of energy. If you think about it, there is a way to make infinite energy but we just don't know how to do it quite yet. This would help the people be more friendly towards each other and make new groups and kinds of people.

If I had the power to change a global issue in the world I would probably want to stop war. As I am typing this up right now war is going on. The reason why I would want to stop it is because, I personally think that what people fight over are very minor things. Thousands of people die, some to save their own country. In some countries, people living in their homes die for doing nothing! In other counties, people have to leave their homes and their families to go fight for their countries, an in my opinion I think that everyone has to have the chance to be with their families. For many years people have been saying things about stopping war, but it's still happening. There must be an end to it so that our world can be a better place to live on. My uncle fought in the war. He nearly lost is life, and now he does not have his right arm. At that time he was a soldier, but now he is in a higher rank. There are many soldiers that work for him. To me they are like uncles so we all call the uncle. One day, I asked them how it is like being a soldier. They told me that it's very hard to not be home and stay with my children. So that day I went and bought some toys for a few of them. Then when I came back, they were so happy. Imagine how better our world would be with peace.

if I had the power to change one global issue in the world I would choose world hunger. I would choose world hunger because there are lots of people in the world who are dying of starvation, or are painfully living without eating in months. This issue can only get bigger if we keep wasting the worlds food sources. Some people eat a quarter of their meal then just throw it away. This issue isn't just happening in 3rd world countries it is also happening here in Canada.

If I had the power to stop and global problem/issue I would choose Global Warming because it has had a lot of impact on Earth right now expecially it has effected sandy because it made it a lot greater and there will be many other things that may come. I think the most impact that it has done to me is that we are just destroying their habitat and as you said in class they will have to swim. I think that they would die before they had a chance to reach their destination.

If I got to choose a global issue I would pick pollution. Pollution is horrible it is horrible fo the world and creates global warming. So if you want the world to end of global warming and pollution then keep polluting the world but I think we have to cut down on more stuff that creates this problem. Like not driving as much not smoking cause the air will get weird and by the way don't kill plants that is the thing we need to breath so it is your choice to stop pollutioning our world.
