Wednesday: 5 Kingdoms Research Project

The Division 4 students learn all about the 4 C's of 21st Century Learning on a daily basis. The students work hard to hone their critical thinking, communication, creativity, and collaboration skills! This is sprawled across the banner of our website and we preach about the importance of these skills every day. The students know they need these skills to succeed in today's world. Today, they integrated all of these skills into their Science research for their 5 Kingdoms project. They started taking notes from reliable sources and will continue to compile reliable information over the next few days from several sources so they have good research to use for their group projects. The Groups will have full control and choice over the presentation medium they choose and will ultimately showcase it via their websites.

1.) MATH 6 - any assigned work
MATH 7 - All of your fraction strips must be coloured, cut out, and placed in a ziplock bag so you
don't lose any of them. You will be using these every day until we complete this unit. WATCH THIS
VIDEO LINK! Just make sure you watch the first 2 minutes of the video. You will have a short quiz
on this section tomorrow.

2.) SCIENCE - You must complete taking notes for at least 2 more Kingdoms. Here is the link from class today. CLICK HERE --> Kidsbiology.com Complete taking notes for Kingdom Protist(a) and Kingdom Fungi. Remember to use the organizational strategies we learned in class in regards to headings and being able to quickly find information. Add your notes to your Google Drive Document and when you complete it, make sure you hand it in via our hand-in box.

3.) POST A RESPONSE: From what we read in class today, how do you think Mack will respond to the sign on the billboard. What will he do? What do you think will happen to George? What do you think will happen if all the visitors see the billboard? Explain what you think will happen.

I think Mack will be super angry and fire George. I think everyone when they see the sign while driving by they will come and take a closer look and then once they all see what it actually is they will make sure Mack is arrested for animal abuse.

I think Mack will be happpy with julia and George baecause Mack is in the middle of a phone call and the person wants to buy some painting. So Ithink he will sell that painting for a lot of money. And I think the people will try to help Ivan to get out of there.

I think Mack will be really mad and angry at George, I think he might have fired George if he didn't realized that this made an opportunity to make more money. If all the visitors saw this, some of them might think this is cute but really it is a cry for help, others will understand but won't do anything until a certain point. I think that once the show goes for a while, one show will have a protest against animal cruelty.

I think that when Mack sees the billboard he'll be very surprised that a gorilla can paint like that, but instead of leaving it up he will take it down and sell it before people can see it.

I think that when Mack sees the billboard he'll be ecstatic that Ivan painted like he did. But instead of leaving in up like George and Julia intended, he will take it down try to sell it before people can see it. But then no one will buy it because they will see what Ivan was trying to say, but Mack still won't because he is dumb. He will put it up for $140 dollars or something, but nobody will buy it and Mack thinks that nobody is buying it because it's too expensive, so he'll keep lowering the price but still no one will buy it. So then George will tell him what it means and Mack won't believe him. When George tells him that it's why no one is buying the painting, Mack believes him and later in the story he will sell the exit 8 big top mall and video arcade. He'll get back together with Helen and he'll turn his whole life around. Mack and Helen will buy a zoo and put all the animals in there. Then everything will be happily ever after:D

I think Mack will react to the sign on the billboard and he will get so mad at George that he might think of firing him, but then the circus will started to lose their audience and he will actually fire George. I think this will happen because the picture that a news reporter will be put on the news paper and people will see the way George is happy and how scared Ruby looks and then they will see how bad the mall is for an animal.

The 5 Kingdoms- Classification

All living things are divided into five groups.
They are called kingdoms.
Based on similarities and differences of living things.
Biologists are learning new things/discovering new things every day.
Scientists may discover new ways to identify and organize living things.
These five kingdoms may change.
2,500 years ago, the first person to create the system was named Aristotle who was a Greek philosopher.

The system was based on two groups
1. Plants
2. Animals
Then the system was based on these three groups.
1. Those who fly
2. Those that walk
3. And, those who swim
Now the five kingdoms are:
1. The Monera
2. The Protist
3. The Fungi
4. The Plant
5. The Animal

Kingdom Monera

Consists of Unicellular life forms- Means they only have one cell.
Cells are Simple and basic compared to other life forms.
Have no nucleus.
Missing many parts found in other cells
Not closely related to other life forms.
Classifyed into two phyla (groups)
1. Autotrophs- Create their own food, similar to plants.
2. Heterotrophs- Cannot create their own food, but they rely on Autotrophs for food.
Bacteria common in Monera Kingdom
Oldest life forms on Earth
All living things evolved from the Monerans.

Firstly, I think that once Mack sees the billboard he will flip out and probably fire george.

Secondly, I think that when other people see the billboard they will asume that the aimals are getting aboused by Mack and they take Mack away and bring in another person who has the same job as Mack but not the same attitude.

Firslty, I think that when Mack sees the billboard he will say "hey that is acually a nice painting Ivan did". Then he will start to rip it down to get money off it by selling it and then he sees a whole lot of people coming to the Exit 8 Big Top Mall then Mcak will leave the painting but then ne looks at it twice then he says"I think I am going to revamp this painting that Ivan did so it will look much better" so then Mack calls in a buddy to help him revamp it then they rip the painting and Mack cant figure out what it is now. Lastly, he will rip the rest of it up and and get mad and start recking thngs then he looks at Ivan and sees he looks sad.

In my opinion, Mack will be surprised. Also, he will take credit of putting the painting up on the billboard. Now he is going to give a TON load of paint and paper for Ivan to paint. I don't think anything will happen to George since Mack is taking credit for everything. When all he visitor's see the billboard they are all going to want an " Ivan Original " and Mack is going to get lots of money.

I think Mack will be furious. He'll probably fire George for putting Ivan's work on the billboard. But Mack I think will then realize that this sign is bringing in more customers and he'll realize he made a mistake firing George. But I think the customers will help Ivan get out of the mall and into a zoo or the wilderness.

In my opinion, I think that Mack will be really mad and try to fire George but then George convinces Mack into not firing him and keeping the painting up on the bill board. I think Mack will be very embarrassed after that because Ivan drew that painting and it said "HOME". Mack will soon understand Ivan and George, then I think he will start treating Ruby, Ivan, Bob, Snickers and George, better.

In my opinion, I think Mack will first be okay with it. He will see what audience it starts bringing it in, then he will become even more greedy. Although, someone like Julia will understand the sign and start getting deep into the case. Once this starts happening it will attract more people, but not in the right way. People may start filing lawsuits (Even though they really can't) and they will dig deep into the case. Mack will start getting angrier and angrier and then he pretend to take care of it when really he won't. He just wants them to stop chasing him after all of these things because he thinks they will start finding out about the abuse, and more he doesn't want people to know about. Then I think Mack will just get so made and say it isn't worth it anymore and Ivan and Ruby will be transported to a zoo. A good zoo.

I think Mack will become angry because of people digging to deep to figure out the message of Ivan's painting. They will start finding about other stuff like the stick with the hook/claw. Also, in the end I think Mack will fire George because of all the trouble he caused from just one painting.
