Wednesday: Body Paragraphs

The students have been working on their 'YEAR OF THE SNAKE PROJECTS' in preparation for Chinese New Year and to learn a little bit about Chinese culture. They were all given the choice of how to create their snake and how to represent the different characteristics that it represents based on the zodiac calendar.

1.) MATH 6: Complete Chapter 6 Lesson 2 (Workbook). Complete Pg 184-185 Qu #1, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 10. Return your Math test signed by your parents. Corrections must be completed if you want to write the retest on Friday.

MATH 7: Any assigned work. Check your teacher's website.

2.) WRITE A RESPONSE #1:

Visit the Hannah's E-folio and browse her entire site.
Leave at least 6 comments/feedback/questions for her on all of her 'Passion' Blogs

3.) WRITE A RESPONSE #2:

Complete body paragraph #1 for your essay on your Google Document.
Be sure to insert the appropriate transition words for each of your supporting points (Examples, statistics, and quotes).
Don't forget to insert a concluding sentence that connects body paragraph #1 to body paragraph #2.
After completing this on your document, post it on this Google Document.

Body Paragraph #1

Topic Sentence: To start, helping people is a great conversation starter.

Point 1: Similar to that point, helping is almost a gateway, you meet people, you make yourself a reputation and you become an all around common person that people will begin to like.

Point 2: Reputation is very important in the beginning, it helps so much by letting people know about you which is actually good. If people know who you are, they can ask you if you need anything for example, a person to talk to, maybe your best friend and even a smart helper towards you.

Point 3: Just like one of the examples, you could be like a tutor, being a tutor might be another path to become more social.

Concluding sentence: Tutoring always has questions and with questions comes answers and to answer questions, you need to engage or start a conversation or argument, you just normally get involved.

TOPIC SENTENCE: To start keeping my resolution, I am going to try and read more books. Here are some ways I will state some points.
POINT 1: I will buy more books that I like because most of the books my mom buys, my sister picks. I would enjoy reading and not use electronics if they bought me manga and comics.
POINT 2: I will also try to go visit the library more often because I go like once a month. If I go to the library more often, I will be away from electronics. (Maybe...because the check out thingy is a computer...)
POINT 3: My last point is read at least 20 minutes a day. Whether it’s the books I buy, the books I borrowed I will always try to read AT LEAST 20 minutes a day.
CONCLUSION: Ok, now that we are finished listing the points, I will jump onto another way to help me not use electronics. (which is my New Year’s resolution if you haven’t notices.

Topic sentence: To begin, Your resolution is about getting better grades and the first step is to study.

Point one: My new year's resolution is to try to get strait a's in school the first thing I am going to do is study for important marks an example of how I am going to compete is always make sure that I am ready for any test.

Point two: Secondly, make sure I have to right books help me study for the right topic and to complete this I will put my books in my backpack to make sure I have the right studying materials. One of the ways to help me complete my goal is to go outside more. Firstly This will be good because if I go outside for 60 minutes or more every day I will be even more motavated to go out side. Some of the things that I will do to go out side is scooter running and skate boarding. This is a good way of completing it but it's not enough.

body paragraph 1

Topic sentence: first off, to kick off a good New Years, some people may want to make a resolution for the brand new year. Just like me, but not like any ordinary person I'm going to state my New Years resolution on here. My New Years resolution for 2013 is to try my best at school.

Point 1: to start off a way to a better time in school I could do better at, getting to school on time more often. I'm going to do this by waking up to an alarm clock buzzer that is really annoying. I will leave for school earlier than I normally would like at around at 8:00 and I shall pack my own lunch the night before the new school day.

Point 2: secondly I could also improve on my homework and as an example I could work on my website and update all my section’s on my efolio or website so that the website will be completely up to date which means that everything has to be monitored at least once a day or somthing like that and it also means updating daily every day on my sections.

Point 3: lastly I could improve on school work by staying up late or right after homework is done to study a weakest subject and improve on it, for example studying and working on subject in my free time either its recess, lunch, or after school it could mean better grades on subject in report cards and noticeable improvement in project participation and detail in website posts.

Topic Sentence: To begin with, to complete my resolution I will first find different ways to stop procrastinating.

Point One: Firstly, I will do this by not putting things to the last minute so that I don’t forget and cause bigger problems. So that means, when someone tells me to do something, instead of telling them that “I’ll do it later.” Now I am going to do it right after I am told to.

Point Two: Also, I will try and not get distracted by the things I am most distracted by. For example, if I see my IPod lying right next to me while I'm doing my homework, I will put it in a different room so that I’m not so tempted to play something on it. Because once I get my hands on an electronic I could play forever, and I won’t really be that productive with my time if I continue that.

Point Three: Next, I am going to save reminders, whether it be in a planner, or on a mobile device, or maybe even set my wallpaper to something that will remind be to not get distracted. For example, if I set reminders to be more productive with my time I will always remember to stop getting distracted, and soon enough that will become a habit.

Concluding Sentence: Not getting distracted will really help me manage my time more wisely, but keeping my day organized would be very beneficial too.

Topic sentence: Firstly, in order to complete my resolution I will need to stay more organized.
Point one: I will need to keep my desk neater because it is almost always messy so to stay organized I will need to make sure I keep my desk cleaned.
Point two: I will need to make sure for projects, I have what I am going to do all planned out so when i’m working on my project I am not wasting all of my time thinking about what to do because I will already have it planned out.
Point three: I will need to make sure I know where everything is so that when I am doing work I don’t need to waste my time looking for my pencil. Or trying to find a worksheet.
Concluding sentence: And not wasting time leads me onto the next paragraph. Being more productive at school.

Topic sentence: Trying to be good at math is hard but I will state some ways that I will follow to be better at math
Point 1: To start, I will try to practice math everyday. How I will do this is I will use a website that will help me, for example I use ixl.com.

Topic sentence: First of all, I will need to Eat more Healthy . Point 1: In order to complete that goal, I will have to eat more healthy foods like vegetables and fruits.Point2: I will try to eat at least 3 servings of vegetables and 3 different fruits a day. Topic sentence: First off to achieve my resolution I have to not fight with my brother.
Point 1: To do this I will think about my answer when he teases me.This is what usually starts our fights. but if I take the high road and just walk away, not saying anything, sooner or later he'll realize that it's stupid to tease me without a reaction, which is what he wants. Also...
Point 2: ...when a fight starts, just walk away, instead of staying and getting madder, and getting in trouble.
Point 3: Another strategy when he bugs me is to pretend he isn’t there. He gets mad, then, and will stop bugging me.
Concluding sentence: That strategy will probably work, but I will also need to be nice to him.

Topic sentence:To start off, I can improve my learning by maintaining my website.
Point one: For example, I can do this by trying to post at least one thing a day. Whether it is just a blog, or a new photo to add in my photo gallery, it still works.
Point two: Another way is, to edit my website whenever I have any spare time. For example, I finish all my homework early and I have nothing to do. I can use this extra time I have to edit my website in some sort of way.
Point three: A way I can edit my website is by using peer and self feedback to make edits/revisions to my work. In other words, I can use constructive critism to help make my website btter for all audiences.
Concluding Sentence: An equally important way to improve my learning is by staying organized.

REVISED My new year resolution this year is to improve on my writing, the way I am going to do that is by. Putting more detail into my writting, secondly another thing I could do to help me improve is not go off trcks on my writting once I write on one topic dont change the topic back and forth. Lastly I could re read my writting over so i dont accidenly make small errors.
