Wednesday: Critical Thinking and Career Clusters

Today, students worked collaboratively in groups of 5-6 to research different careers that are associated with the different subject areas. In addition to this, students will research 3 skills that are required of each career and 3 examples of how these skills could be useful. Each student is responsible for contributing to their group's success.

1.) WRITE A RESPONSE #1: View this YouTube Clip. Is this actual footage of Bruce Lee playing with pingpong with his nunchakus? Do some critical thinking and investigative research to find out if it is legitimate or if it has been altered. Is it real or a hoax? How do you know?

2.) MATH 6: Post your total values from day 1 and from today. Indicate if you have gained or lost money.
MATH 7: Any assigned work.

3.) WRITE A RESPONSE #2: Do some investigative research on the career you have chosen and find out the following: (3 parts)

The reasons why I think that the video is fake because they video editors did not show his face very much witch that means that they could put a look alike in there and then edit a ping pong ball in there so it looks like their actually playing.

You will also need to use a computer with ease and to know who vs who and why they are there. If a lawyer lies they will suffer severe consequences like losing your license and disbarment. Art Teacher: To become a art teacher you need to be a good artist and now what you are talking about, instead of saying random stuff, like draw a unicorn and your a professional artist. And secondly you need to start off with steps, not just like draw something really challenging, and then expecting them to draw it exactly like that. Lastly you need to be calm because if your not calm and your teaching you class something, it may take them a while to get it right so that's 3 things that are required to do that job, in my opinion.

Post a Response #1- This video is fake the ball was digitally inserted. Nokia and produced by JWT shanghai made in 2005. It was not really Bruce Lee it was a look-alike.

Post a Response #2- To become a astronomer you need to have a degree computer science, math and astronomy. You need a computer science degree because you need to know how to do certain things on a computer. Secondly, you need a degree in math because you have to calculate the distance between the planets and how long it will take to get there. I think that it is not real because- The video didn't seem very real to me and thinking that someone could do that with those numchuck things I don't think he could do that also when they were switching players on the other team he didn't even stop to take a break like wouldn't he be tired and lasltly it didn't show his face a very much or at all.

To be an architect you need to be very skilled in measurements because architects usually draw blueprints and they will need to measurements to know the length and width of the buildings he or she is designing. How can you become an archaeologist?: you will need some tools that can help you such as a PhD to do your own research and you would need to study a lot of archaeology and the final thing that you would need to become an archaeologist is to have at least a couple years of experience with going alongside others in lets say again the diging for fossles. So im basicly saying that its like moving up in experience from kindergarten to high school to university to archaeologist.

I think it is fake because Bruce Lee died in 1973, and the clothing of the 2 opponents is modern.
His face blurred in the video but in his movies His Face is always sharp and the main focus because of his facial expressions.

A) The Bruce Lee video I found was fake. Not only was it not real ping pong but it wasnt even Bruce Lee! It was just an actor who sort of looked like him. And according to http://www.snopes.com/photos/advertisements/pingpong.asp
It was made 35 years after Bruce Lee's death!
B) The career I am doing is nuclear engineer. To become a nuclear engineer you must recieve a Master of Engineering degree or a Bachelor of Engineering degree. the 3 skills you need are: lots of knowledge in math and science and other subjects related to these. And they must have proper education and training. The third is they must be well organized and creative when handling since they need to answer hard formulas or equations.

1.) The Bruce Lee video is fake. It already seemed suspicious in the beginning. First off all, Bruce Lee died in 1973, and this was an advertisement for the Nokia N98 phone which was in 2008. Which means that is not the real Bruce Lee. In addition, I researched it. All of the website I found said it was fake. Here are a few.

B.) My job was Politician, which is a person that is professionally involved with activities with the government. To become one, you need to start a campaign or something like that. For example, this side is better than this side. You need to have plenty of skills, here are three that you need for sure to become a politician. First of all, you need to have speaking skills, because you have to make the other people think you are better than the people against you. Which leads onto number 2, negotiating skills. When you are in a debate, you need to have negotiating skills in order for your side to win. Lastly, knowledge on current events. In order to succeed you need to know what you are talking about and what is going on.

I don't know anyone who is a geographer, plus I really don't know much about this career. But I did learn a lot of stuff, however many resources use big words and I don't know what they mean.

#1- In my opinion I don't believe that the Bruce Lee ping pong video is real. I will admit in the beginning when I first saw the video I thought it was real but I then did some further research and found out more about the video. Aperantly the video was for a advertisement for the Nokia n96. This video was made in 2008, 35 years after Bruce Lee died. In the video it was actually a Bruce Lee lookalike pretending to play ping pong with someone else. They moved together to the sound of an actual ping pong game. - They are responsible to provide knowledege to other people about the the enviroment.
- Geographers are categorized in to many different groups.
- They use special technology.
- Provide information to the government about making roads, houses, landfill projects.

The job that I am supposed to work on Is a doctor. I order to be a doctor you need to have really good knowledge about things like math, the human body, people..... Doctors have to be patient and also kind of risky because if they are doing a major surgery the patient could either die or live, and it all depends o the doctor!
Here are a couple skills that doctors need:
1. Knowledge (I already talked about a couple things)
2. Memorizing illness, sicknesses and medicin names
3. They have to be determined but mostly have lots of knowledge about what they are doing.

To be a doctor you need to go thorough medical school and have a bachelor degree. 2-4 years of undergraduate work, 3-4 years of medical school, 3-5 years of residency and those are the steps you need to take to become a doctor. So all in all you need about 11 years of training and school.

To be a Professor you need to do a lot of academical work; most professors have to have a doctors degree in their chosen field; and work at an educational facility.

You need to enjoy academics; teach students and do research. Also important is to get published.

1:) To become a engineer you must have a good plan of constructing a perfect building it could be concrete brick or steel. You must know all the aspects of constructioning.
2:) You have to know mathematics. Other then directing you should be dictating to see what the customer wants.

3:) Engineering Is all about being creative and forward thinking! So you have to know your basic math and build buildings perfectly.

1) Bruce lee died in 1972 and the photo is so blurry and it looks like their faces are blurry and I don't know if it is a coincidence or not
2) the job I chose was architect. To be an architect you have to be able to visualize and design modern offices homes etc.... You would also have to draw what you see on the paper and give measurements for how long the wood has to be.

1.) I'm pretty sure the ideo is fake, mostly because since he's going so fast and the ball s going at a normal speed when it should go flying. Another reason is because Bruce Lee is dead. Plain and simple, dead.

I think the video is fake because the clothes are modern and I could see the ball not touch the nunchakus and it would be off target. And the year this was made doesn't make sense if he's dead! And that ball is moving too fast for the ping pong player but not "Bruce lee."according to this website http://www.snopes.com/photos/advertisements/pingpong.asp it was a hoax ad was made for entertainment only. I think they made it to see how much we believe the Internet.

Bruce Lee died in 1972 so he can't be alive now and Nokia could've taken his old footage but they got a look-a-like instead. The speed of the nunchakus would have smashed the ping pong ball because if you compare to a pro ping pong player, when they hit the ball as hard as they can, it sometimes dents the ball and I have seen a ball being shattered.

The job I have is a museum currator. To be a museum currator you have to have care meaning make sure you are respectful to the job and have passion in what your doing. Another thing is that I read from a website was you have Publication credits are important in getting recognition as an expert in your field which in turn can lead to becoming a curator. The last thing that you should have experiance with or no about is maybe being a cataloger or a restorer because that can lead to being a museum curaitor

The job that I chose to research is an astronomer. To be an astronomer you need to have degrees in Physics (because you need to know about all the planets and how far away they are and how they stay in space), Science (because you need to know about space) and Math (because you need to know all about distances and stuff). You also need to memorize all the astronomer's tools and gadgets.
