WEDNESDAY: DEADLINE APPROACHING

The Ancient Civilizations project is due this Friday! Be sure to follow the criteria sheet carefully. As Mariko noted today, you must incorporate two separate forms in the presentation of your civilization. For example, you may create a digital presentation and create a model of an artifact from your civilization. Trent is planning on making a pyramid out of sugar cubes! He knows that he must explain one of the theories to also explain how the ancient Egyptians were able to create such a monument using their engineering skills. DUE DATE: May 16th.

Also, be sure to dress appropriately for school. Make good independent decisions regarding how you dress. This applies to everyone - boys and girls!

1.) SOCIAL STUDIES:

Continue working on your projects. It is due this Friday!
Follow the criteria sheet carefully! If you want to do well, simply follow the instructions outlined on the criteria sheets.

2.) POST A RESPONSE:

Think of an item that you use on a regular basis that requires electricity.
Think of the 'PATH' the electricity takes and write how you think the electricity flows through the circuit. Write about how you think the electrons move throughout the circuit using scientific terms.
Be sure to include at least 5 of these terms : path(way), wires, switch, lcd screen, motor, engine, light, L.E.D., battery, source of electricity (AC or DC), resistor, insulator, or any other related term.
For example: I use an L.E.D. flashlight on a regular basis. There must be a wire that connects the battery to the switch and the switch to the L.E.D.. Also, to complete the pathway, the electricity must return to the source. To do this, another wire must go from the other end of the L.E.D. to the other end of the battery. A battery provides a direct current (DC). When the switch is turned on, it becomes a closed circuit and a complete circuit because the electrons can flow freely through the pathway. Battery->wire->Switch->wire->L.E.D.->WIRE->BATTERY

My computer is almost always on and it obviously does need electricity. The computer is equipped with a port on the back so you can connect a power supply to it (cord). Then on the other end of the power supply, there is a plug which you can insert into an outlet on the wall. They created the name, outlet because the outlet "outs" power from the wall to your object. The cord is very thick because it has 2 thinner cords inside of it so the power can return to the source, in this case, the outlet. When you plug the power source into the outlet and into the computer, the computer receives power because of the pins (2 or 3). The pins are then connected to the inside of the Mac. I use a light switch along with a light bulb everyday. So make the light bulb turn on you need to close the path so that the electricity can go through the wires and trigger the bulb to turn on. When I am done with using the light I turn the switch off and take the path away so that there is no electrons going through to trigger the bulb. When I do turn it on though, it makes a circuit because when you turn it on it can't just all go straight through the wires to the bulb there are insulators as well that stop some stuff from going through.

My iPhone I use way to much like every 2 hours I'm at home 1 of them is one my iPhone use the led camera . In fact I'm using my phone to do this.

The T.V uses electricity. When you turn it on, the electrons in the path from the wires start flowing through the T.V.. Also when you turn it on you are closing the switch allowing the electricity to flow through to turn on the engine.

my light in my room is almost always on and it's a really high watt so I need to remember that I need to turn it off more. For my light to turn on I need to close the switch so the path of electricity will move and turn on. Then the electrons will start to run freely from atom to atom.

I connect my moms laptop to the T.V so the circuit goes from the T.V back to laptop with the cords. So when you plug the cord in it goes from the laptop to the T.V.

Right away when I think of a thing that I use everyday are ceiling lights. Ceiling lights are often just bulbs in the ceiling with different amounts of brighnes which is called watts that comes from volts and amps like pressure and flow through a hose. That creates a watt. A light would also have a L.E.D inside the bulb that is hooked into a resistor that let's the exact amount of energy come through to meet the amount of watts required for the bulb. (Amps)

I regularly use light (light bulbs) which are connected to sockets, and then when the circuit is closed, the light bulb is on. When the circuit is open, it's off. When it's off the electrons just circle around the nucleus, but when it's on, the electrons go everywhere in the atoms.

My ipod charges using a cord. When I plug the cord in the electrons move freely up the cord. The electrons move both ways in the cord.
When I turn on my Ipod, the electrons go through wires to reach the led light of my ipod. The battery Is a metal rod that is surrounded in acid full of electrolytes inside a metal casing.

I use my ipad and my iPhone all the time. That uses lots of electricity. The charger is like the wire that connects all the electricity. The electricity follows the path up into the phone and into all of its circuits. It allows the light to turn on on the screen so you can use the phone. Without the electrify the phone and ipad would just be a screen with a bunch or wires and cables. The charger takes the power from the outlet and sends it through the path into the device. Then the electricity allows you to see on the LCD screen.

I have been using electric fans lately, especially because of the heat. When you plug the cord into the socket, electricity goes from one prong all the way up to the fan, where it hits a switch, which I have to press to make it a closed circuit, and makes pressure. This pressure makes the fan go, and after that the electricity goes back through the pathway and into the other prong.

My computer uses electricity, the computer has a large cord that connects to the out lit then runs through to a tiny box and flows through their like storing the energy then it uses it all up by traveling through the cord up in the computer.

Im going to turn on my xbox 360. When its on the electrons go around then past the nucleus in the atom. When I turn my xbox 360 off the electrons in the cord just goes in circles around the nucleus. The electrons is the thing that powers and charges your stuff.

When I charge my phone the switch is closed and the electrons flow though the path of the cord and the reach the battery of my phone. the cord is covered in rubber which is a insulator and protects it from shocking me when I touch it.

I use an iphone charger to charge my phone all the time. chargers have a cable/Path that electricity goes through and then they have two ends one that plugs in to the bottom of your phone and another that can plug into a little cube which allows it to be plugged into the wall or u can just take the path/Cable and plug it right into your laptop.

On a regular basis I always use either my iPod Touch or my moms iPhone for posting, and those items have a portable battery which does not require a plug tht much unless you have to charge. The way I think how either the iPod works or iPhone, when you connect the circuit to connect my iPhone / iPod to the outlet, it connects them together letting a path open up for the electrons allowing them to enter the battery to charge, then once unplugged it would disable the path they were heading through. For the inside part, it gets very confusing since it goes from here to there and it's hard to explain each part.

I use my phone all the time, so I need to charge the battery through the outlet leading to the cord and into my phone to charge the battery giving abk use for my phone.

I use my phone and tv all the time. When these things are plugged in and turned on, it allows the electrons to move freely through the cord and into the phone/tv. Also I have a led projector, I turn it on with the switch so the power will turn on.

I use my charger to charge my phone, when battery is gone. When I charge my phone the switch is closed, and when I'm not charging switch is opened. The electronic go through the charger path and go through the cord, so battery could be charge. Some times charger has different shape because it is from different country.

I use my computer charger to charge my computer. I plug it in the cord the plugs into the switch to charge. while its charging the switch is closed and while its not charging the switch is open. the cord to charge my computer has to wires in it so the electrons will come through one side or i wire and goes out the other.

My phone charger is a closed circuit which connects to my phone, a insulator is in the main plug that allows the electrons to have less amps/volts.

Also, I have some issues with that video you posted. First off, it's only directed towards girls, furthering the thought that girls need to be the ones to change. And I don't see the entire worlds issues with the shorts. People continue to sexualize women's legs, making us women feel uncomfortable, and victim blaming us instead of telling off the people who are staring at these things we use to walk anyways. The boys are aloud to wear deep scoop tank tops wheeeeenever they please, but once again, instead of talking to the so called "boys" who will have issues with it, you are constricting us to wear more layers. It's summer, it's hot outside. Just because you are assuming that people are going to freak out because they can see our damn legs doesn't mean it's true. We are not going to wear jeans and two shirts in the summer, sweating ourselfs to death just because you feel the need to shame your girls for the clothes they wear, and the body they are starting to hate just because you tell them to cover up. Stop it, no one likes the rule anyways, ask any of the girls in the school.

I use a light bulb everyday. When the switch is of then the little door that is inside the wall is open and the electrons just orbit the atoms nucleus but when the switch is on the door is closed and the electrons circulate through the path and into the light to turn it on.

Something I use on a regular bases would be my phone. I am not totally sure how the circuit works but I'm sure it's something like this. I turn the phone on and then the little gate thing closes to attach everything together. Then all of the electrons start to flow through the path and that's create how the phone uses electricity.
