Plant/Animal Cell Project Video

Most of the Plant and Animal Cell models/projects have been marked. Click here to watch the video of what you all created! I enjoyed seeing the creativity that came out in your projects!

In Language Arts, we focused on working on our comprehension strategies. Students worked on developing their ability to create deeper questions, connections, and how to identify and explain powerful phrases. I was pleased to see how many students shared their deep connections during our discussion about 'Counting by 7s'.

1.) MATH 6: Any assigned work. Check your teacher's website.
MATH 7:

Complete your stock portfolio calculations if you didn't complete them in class. If you have any questions, post them here and someone will help you out.
Complete worksheet 3.1
Research and choose 5 companies for tomorrow. You will need the closing price, name, and ticker symbol of the companies so you can complete your activities in class tomorrow.

@ Mr.hong - I might have to come in early tomorrow because my mom and dad went down to West Vancouver to look at a car and I went to my aunties who had no internet connection so I could not do my post. SORRY!

One I found that something like the grass versus rock Grass is much easier to Make observations about. 2 microscopes were not that challenging to focus because it's not that much options.

I learned how to do a cover slip a specimen. You take your specimen thenough you add water then you put on a smaller price of plastic over the it is easyer to see it closer up.
Yes I did and I learned that you need to move it slowly to make sure that you don't go past the Pont where it is clear.
I leaned that plant and animal Cells don't have the same things on or in them.

As a matter of fact I did learn how to wet mount our specimen it was easy using the slides then putting the specimen on, then we put the cover slip on so we can see it better. I loved to observe them and nothing was very challenging. Focusing the microscope was half half since it was sort of hard to get it right and easy most of the time. So I don't really find that so challenging. I learned that we have no different organelles but plant cells do, such as the Cell wall and another item. I really enjoyed doing the project of the cell too.

Yes I did learn how to mount a specimen. You first get a specimen ready, a plastic clear slider, and some water/eye dropper. You first put the slider in through the little clips then put the specimen on top of it. Next, you want to put a drop of water on the specimen then you cover it with a plastic cover. It was very easy to do this because we did it in partners. Nothing was really hard about mounting a specimen and wetting it, the focusing took a bit of time.

Secondly, I did learn how to focus a specimen under a microscope. It was pretty easy but like I said before, it took a bit of time. Once, I pulled it up to much and it hit my eye.

Finally, I learned so much about the organelles in a plant or animal cell. I can pretty much list and label where they are and what they do to help the cell. At first, I just thought cells were tiny round balls filled with nothing but now I know there are organelles inside it.

1.) It was pretty easy to know how to wet mount a sentiment after we were told how.
2. )It was pretty easy to focus the microscope but it took a minute.
3.) What I learn about the different organelles that are in plant and animal cells, some of them are Cell Wall, Cell Membrane etc... Learned about the shapes they are and what the different organelles do.

Firstly you put the plastic slide and mount the specimen. Then secondly you put the plastic cover over your mounted specimen. Then you should focus your microscope (After you alighn the specimen). And yesi did learn how to focus the microscope. I learned about diferant parts if a cell and how it works. For example, the cell wall on the plant cell gives it shape and structure. I learned a lot about the other ones too. And I even learned about diferant organlles that we were not taught in class. For example the ribosomes wich grows the protein in the plant cell. I know this because of how I added it to my project. I truly learned a lot about cells this term.

Yes, I learned how to mount a specimen in Science. First of all, you need to put your specimen on a slide and then put it under the microscope. Then you take a dropper and drop water on the specimen. Then you need to cover it with a plastic sheet of plastic so that it spreads the water out. When we did this I found this really easy to do, plus we were doing it in partners. Nothing was really challenging. Next I learned how to focus on a specimen using a microscope. It wasn't that hard, but it still took time, because you need to change the controls and stuff on the microscope. Lastly, I learned the different organelles that are in a plant or animal cell. I know where and what each cell is now.

#1) I dont get it at all.
#2) It was pretty easy because after like 3 times of using it i got the hang of it and it was easy.
#3) I actually learned that there was a plant and animal cell and all the orgnelles.

( @mr.hong i have that song stuck in my head everytime we talk about cells) ----cells cells there made of organelles----

I did learn how to wet mount a specimen and it was easy. There was nothing difficult about it.

I learned how to focus and it is sometimes easy but sometimes you go to quickly and miss when you should stop.

i learned about the cells and organells and I learned that cells are made of organelles.

1.I learned how to properly wet mount a specimen. It was fairly easy after the first time of doing it.
2. I learned how to properly focus a microscope on a specimen. It was easy to do on the first try because all I needed to do was turn it a bit and move it up and own until I could see the specimen good.
3. I learned about the cell organelles. I learned The functions of diffrent organelles.

yes I did learn how to focus and mount a speciman. To focus on something ex a plant leaf you need to find that amazing spot where the zoomed in leaf looks really cool the ways you can focus are by. Twwisting the lens and moving it up and down. So that is how to focus in on something using the microscope and trust me it is really cool.

When we used the microscopes I learned how to focus and wet mount. It was really easy to wet mount but took a little more work to focus. It was pretty easy but again the focus and be a pain because sometimes it takes forever to make a really nice and clear image. Over all it was a really fun unit and I really did enjoy it even through it can be challenging sometimes.

I learned how to properly wet mount a specimen and it actually wasn't that hard. The only thing I found challenging was focusing the body tube onto the specimen because I wasn't sure which way to move it. It wasn't like something I would be stuck on for 20 seconds or more though. I did learn about the plant and animal cells and the differences and similarities and stuff like that. I learned about some of the parts in the plant and animal cells such as the cell wall, nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, and vacuole. In conclusion, I thought that this lesson in science was pretty easy.

I learned how to focus and mount. It was easy. I learned how to at microscope on specimens. It was little challenge to move it. I learned different organelles animal cell,and animal cell. I learned organelles in animalcell and plant cell.
