Wednesday: More Human Rights and Sports Statistics

The students learned more about 'HUMAN RIGHTS' today. We read about the experiences of students around the world and how even young students can make a difference! Individuals like themselves are the agents of change and are doing awesome things to advocate for human rights and more specifically, children's rights, every day! We discussed our action project that we will begin working on next week and brainstormed ideas on our purpose and how we will teach others about human rights. The students are excited to see what they will be able to accomplish!

In addition to 'HUMAN RIGHTS', the grade 6 students continued researching sports statistics online and learned how to calculate percentages, ratios, decimals, and fractions using a Google Spreadsheet. It was amazing to see the amazing learning going on when they were able to see the connections between the wins, losses, overtime games, when compared to the total games played!

1.) MATH 6: Complete all worksheets for tomorrow (RATIOS).
MATH 7: Any assigned work.

2.) SOCIALS: Group activity must be completed for tomorrow. (Collaborative document on Google Drive) Most of the groups have already completed this.

3.) LA: Finish editing/revising your second draft of your essay based on the feedback you received. Your Essay assessment and peer feedback forms must be handed in with draft #1 and #2 tomorrow morning.

3.) SHOWCASED BLOG:

Visit ATV BOY'S Learning Journey and leave HIM at least 4 comments (suggestions / feedback / questions)

4.) WRITE A RESPONSE:

What are 2 specific examples of technology that you have access to that will allow you to teach others about human rights?
How would you teach people about human rights using the examples you listed? BE SPECIFIC! Do your best not to repeat any examples that your classmates have already mentioned.

I would use a smartphone to teacher others by showing them what human rights are about and I would probably show them something on a website I could also show them what I have written about human rights on my group document. I can use a PlayStation to show what human rights are by showing them a YouTube video about human rights or I could show them something else on the web about human rights.

I can use my tablet and use the weebly app. Meaning I can add a blog post and link it to the work on human rights we have been doing. I can also use my laptop to use social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Intagram, etc.

I can use social networking sites to spread the word. I think we can do this by providing all the information we have gathered on human rights. I think our message will only get out there if its interesting for all ages. (But mainly younger) Sorry I posted a second comment, it wouldn't let me type anymore for some reason.

You can use Facebook and Twitter. Because you can post a status on Facebook and all your friends can see it. Also, with twitter you can tweet something, and all of your followers can see it.

You could use a social media site to tell people more about human rights by posting stuff about it. You could also use weebly and blog about human rights and try to advertise it on other sites so that others will come to the site and read about the human rights.

I can use my Xbox because it has Bing and I can search the internet with that. I can also use my iPod because I can use the internet and I can use that.

I can post a link saying what the rights are, why they are in use, and another example is what they mean. I can show them a link on my iPod or even just show a link on this class blog.

Something that uses the internet.
Example: Computer, laptop, mobile device, etc.

How you could use the internet/ how I would:
- Email: We could do some research and email teachers around your area to spread the word.

- Our class website: We could post things to show people about human rights.

- Social Networks (Twittwer, Instagram, Facebook) We are able to tweet or post pictures about human rights and what goes on around the world.

- YouTube (Show some love and subscribe to our channel :) We could post a video on YouTube on what human rights are. Which I think we are!

I could use a iMovie/video editing app to show people about the Human Rights we have. In order to do that I can video tape our class/me talking about how important Human rights are. After that, we would post that on You tube and wait for people to view it and comment!

Another way is that I can send an email/chain link about Human Rights. I will forward it to all my friends and tell them to forward it to all their friends!

1.) posting about human rights on your website. that will help because around 10 people look at our websites a day, and if those 10 people tell more people about it....so on. it is a chain reaction.

2.) walk up to your friends tell about it and they'll tell their friends which will tell their friends...so on.
