Today, the students continued learning about microorganisms and making observations. They learned that a good observation is detailed, specific, and factual. The students reviewed the different types of observations they can make which included observations of colour, texture, lustre, size, shape, taste, scent, etc. They completed the remainder of their onion/cheek cell lab and used Venn diagrams to compare and contrast the two different types of cells. The students made conclusions and made reference to how to observe a specimen under a microscope and what makes a good observation.

- Making good observations is a very important skill to have. Today, we reviewed how to make good ones by being detailed, specific, and factual.
- Today, I want you to make a good observation of something in your bedroom without actually mentioning what that item is. Make sure you do not mention the name of the item you are writing about.
- In your detailed, specific, and factual observations, you must comment on the shape, size, lustre, texture, colour, shape, and taste/scent - optional.
- Then, I'd like you to respond to as many posts from your classmates. You must guess what the items is based on the observation they have given.
