Welcome to all Division 2 students! It was wonderful to finally have all of you in our class today. Everyone arrived on time and you were all eager to learn. As discussed in class, this week will be all about setting rules and expectations, learning about what and how you will learn this year, initial academic assessments, and getting to know all of your classmates. You will be responsible for checking our class website on a daily basis and it is important that you share this with your parents. The website will also give your parents something to talk to you about at the end of each day. Be sure to watch the daily video with your parents.

1.) POST A RESPONSE:

Today is your first official homework assignment. Your assignment is to complete the following:
Post a comment on how your parents feel about having a daily class website.
Post a brief paragraph about what you are looking forward to in this school year!
EXTRA: If you are able to, read at least 3 responses from your peers.
After reading their paragraphs, give 1 student two things you think they could improve on based on their spelling, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, or capitals.
If you receive any comments/descriptive feedback, reply to their comment and edit/revise your paragraph.

My mom- It's nice to know that i can see what my daughter is learning at school with this website.

Something i look forward to this year is to learn new techniques on focusing more in class, since i easily get distracted in class. I also look forward to go to camp, it seems fun and i might learn new things during camp. I would like to learn or practice more on my writing this year, since it's not the best but also is still decent. Another thing i look forward to this year is improving on my math, because i am terrible at math and i would like to get better at it. Third thing i am looking forward to this year is to do word work and learn new words that i probably never heard of.That's all i could thing of right now i really look forward to learn new things from Mr.Hong.

@ Ethel, something I noticed is that some a few i's were not capitalized and another thing, near the end of your paragraph I noticed that you wrote thing instead of think. Anyway that is just small errors i found in your paragraph. Overall it was good :)

My mom thinks this is a pretty good idea and looks forward to seeing what we'll be learning about.

I'm looking forward to learning a little more about science in a more in depth way. Mainly on the human body ( I want to become a doctor someday)

1 My mom has seen it before but she thinks its a good way to know what is going on in the classroom and to know what homework there is.
2 I'm looking forward to the school year and what it will bring. I can't wait to see what kind of projects we will be doing. Harmon has told me some of the things that he did last year and all of them sounded fun. I hope I can do some of the same things as well, like the passion project video. #grade7Div.2

@ Brieana Everything else was great but in the first sentence "its" is supposed to be "it's." It's a very, very small error though.

My parents think that the website is great to help you keep up on your daily assignments.

I’m really exited to be able to be in grade 7 this year! I’m looking forward to working with my peers to achieve my goals and own my learning! I’m especially looking forward to camp and getting our grad hoodies!!!

My mom finds that it’s hard to make time to check the website on a daily basis.

This year I am looking forward to learning about digital art. (If we are doing that again...) Even though my final draft didn’t turn out amazing I still had a lot of fun making it.

1.My mom says that this is a pretty cool concept as it allows her to check out what kind of stuff is going on without using fresh grade which she finds too complicated
2. I`m looking forward to being a grade 7 as it brings a lot of new stuff that was previously not available to me at least in school. I also really like trees so I`m also looking forward to camp. In conclusion (hopefully) I`ll probably learn lots of new things and experience stuff that I never have previously

My parents thinks this website is useful because they can see what I'm doing at school without having to continuously ask me.

I am looking forward to simply completing Grade 7 and finishing elementary school! I also find this year very crucial because it's the "transitioning Grade" from elementary to secondary school.
I am hoping to expand my knowledge of generally everything, and am looking forward in improving in my weaker subjects.

@ Megan I noticed in a lot of your sentences start same way. Maybe you could change it up a little bit by using words like next or also. Otherwise it was very detailed paragraph! :)

This year, I look forward to improving my learning skills, to be more efficient in doing my work, participating in various school activities, and learning with a new teacher. :)

@Spencer, I think you've done a great job explaining how your parent feel about our class room website, One thing I believe a lot people are struggling with is whether they should write longer with a good amount of quality, or write shorter a great and useful amount of quality not the highest though. I think you should really think about that one, it is crucial to your success. One thing I would do to interest the reader more is by giving somewhat a list of things you would like to to see and what you may want to see less of this year, for example sports, games, subjects,etc. And like wise use common phrases like "for example" or "such as", etc, I also think making it more deep so everyone reading this can understand every single sentence you write.

But as this is your first time on the website as so many others are like you, you won't need to do this much stuff until around October, but once you kinda get the hang of it, you got to start giving more detailed info. ooherwise you did good Spencer

@Mi, I think you've done a great job and you have clearly expressed your passion for grade 7, one thing you could improve on would be going a little bit more in depth or making a deep hard hitting sentence, if not that maybe try and list out a few subjects, sports, books and activities you may be looking forward to!

But other wise I think you've done a great job!

Art because you can express yourself in so many ways and science because theirs so much to learn! I'm so excited about going camping because it will be a fun experience. @Nick, I think you've created a well structured description of what your mom said about the website, I see you have also explained what you want to take a bite at out of our entire school year. A few things you could do to improve this would be giving examples as to what kind of activities you maybe be looking forward to. i you would like you can also give some DESCRIPTIVE FEEDBACK to Mr. Hong on what you would like done to make it a even more memorable moment for you, if not you don't necessarily need to do this, but yeah. And in your conclusion paragraph, add a little detail to as to what you want back or you want back from last year and what new topics you might want Mr. Hong to take into consideration!

But otherwise I think you did great, well done Nick!

My Mom said she liked seeing the website yet again for a second year now, she is glad it is still up and running!

For this year I am looking forward to studying and creating engaging presentations for the whole class to look at and learn from, I am looking forward to seeing everyone give truthful and realistic feedback to each other through calm and friendly words and attitude. Subjects I liked from last year I hope can return, and maybe some new topics that have been brought by other students into our learning space, I hope everyone in div 1 & 2 can benefit from others in a good way.

For now, I am genuinely awaiting to see what our grade 7 science unit will be about, for some reason I am honestly hooked on science right now. For any wandering grade 7s, I believe our PE lessons are all based on various sports, depending on how much ability is expected of the sport the more time we will spend on it. Another thing I am sure everyone is discussing is grade 7 sweaters or hoodies, I am also very excited too!

In conclusion, I hope everyone can make it to graduation without having complained about any other students or subjects, I am also looking forward to doing more team projects with our new classmates.

For this year, I am exited about learning new math, since math is one of my favourite subjects. I am also looking forward for the projects this year. projects can be very interesting and creative, so that is why I am excited for the projects this year. Lastly, I am interested about the field trips. Although, it better be somewhere I haven't gone before because if you go to some places too often it can get quite insipid.

Therefore, these are the three things I look forward to this year. I hope everyone will have a great school year.

@Max, Like how you started the paragraph and the words that were in it, one thing I would add would kind of be a little extra but you sort of write a detailed reason on why you would like the more of this subject and less of that subject, for example i don't really like art because I don't understand how colors mix together and make a cool background and I always come up with some thing that would make the eye look away. That was just an example please try it, small things like this can really shape the way some one may look at your writing. And talk about your passions for these few subject or sports and how the may relate to your daily life, for example "I am really looking forward to playing basketball this year, because I got a award last year for best basketball player in summer camp, and I am really excited to share my energy and skill with everyone else."

@Emma I'm also looking forward to art! One thing about your par, you might want to avoid using the word "also" twice. that way it wont be a run-on sentence. Also, don't forget the period at the end of a sentence.

My parents think that this is a great platform for students to interact with each other. They’re also glad that they'll be able to see what I've been doing at school.

Something that I look forward to this school year is all the field trips! (especially camp). I remember that last year the school year flew by. One thing that I really enjoyed last year was art. During art, the atmosphere felt really cheerful and lighthearted. I'm looking forward to another year of great learning with Mr.Hong and Mr.Fisher!

I think that one of the ways that we can be safe online is not to post much pictures online. I think on Instagram if you look at people's post you can see where that photo was taken. Another way is to avoid any messages sent to you from an unknown long number, it just might be a scammer or someone who was tracking you on social media. A third way you can stay safe online is to not accept any friend requests from a person who's name does not sound familiar. You can ask a friend or a parent if they have heard of that name just to double check. :)

My mom thinks that this website is useful. It helps her know what I have for homework and what I have been doing at school.

I look forward to Science, P.E, and Art because, they are my favorite subjects in school. I am also looking forward to making many new friends.
