WRITE ME A STORY

Today, the class started to do self evaluations on their writing workshop pieces of writing. Every student in the class will be contributing a piece of their writing to a class book that will be distributed to every class member. The students writing has grown immensely over the last few months and their ability to create powerful pieces of writing has become very impressive. The students are using good leads, interesting hooks, powerful verbs and nouns, and are using strong focus in their writing.

1) MATH

Write your L.R. on FreshGrade.
The questions you have to answer are:
- 1) What did you learn about triangles and quadrilaterals?
- 2) Did you meet the learning intentions?
- 3) Did you learn anything else other than the intended learning intention?
- 4) What did you enjoy?
- 5) What did you not like?
- 6) If you could go back in time, what would you do differently and why?
- 7) What will you do in the future when you have a math assessment?

2) SOCIAL STUDIES

Finish the first page of your "Kinder Morgan Pipeline Project."

3) WRITING WORKSHOP

Continue writing if you haven't decided on a piece to submit for the final book.

4) POST A RESPONSE:

Today in class we continued to discuss the Kinder Morgan Pipeline.
One of the cons about the pipeline that the students brought up was about the potential for an oil spill.
Watch the video about Exxon Valdez and answer the following questions:
- 1) What is the video about?
- 2) Who do you think paid to clean up the oil spill?
- 3) How would you decide what the cost of the clean up is?
- 4)Can you make any connections between this video and the Kinder Morgan Pipeline?
- 5) How do you think this disaster could have been avoided?
- 6) How would you feel if an oil spill like Exxon Valdez happened on the coastline beside Vancouver?

1.) The video was about an oilspill that occured

2.) Exxon or the government.

3.) $349.99 for clean up because of the amount of oil to clean up and the rest of the workers cut for the money.

4.) Both of them contained a type of oil that makes an impact in our environment.

5.)If Exxon and the government would be smarter than that it wouldn't have happened becuase they knew that an oil pipeline would be risky but noooooo they went for the victim card and chose to approve it.

6.) I would sue those companies because fish is one of my favourite foods and I don't want my fish and my water to be contaminated by dirty disgusting gooey slobby oil.

It depends on how much oils spilled.

They both carry oil.

If they would not dodge the snow just go over it cause you have a HUGE boat.

I would not care cause it does not effect me.

3.) It costed $8,000,000, but $350,000 was taken for the workers

4.) It affects the environment, which is bad

5.) If they thought about how it would happen if they actually did this and that and how it actually doesn't matter if it's hard or not, and that all it matters is that what it would affect on he future.

5.) I would feel scared and sad, because I don't want my family to be worried about it, so maybe we'll just go to Philippines if that happens (maybe)

4.} They both have to do with oil and they can both be harmful to the earth, people, and animals

5.} Well i dont really know what would be better because taking them on a boat will be bad because it's gonna go in the water and harm animals the same thing with oil pipelines there both gonna harm animals people and the earth wich is bad. Maybe in the future someone can make a good idea on how to transfer oil around with out making them spill.

6.} I would feel bad for the animals because it would be difficult for them to find homes.

This video is about an oil spill. The Exxon worker's cleaned up. It depends how much oil spilled. I think it cost about 400 000 000 000 dollars. Exxon and Kinder Morgan both transport oil. I think this wouldn't have happened if you be more careful. You could of avoided the iceberg. I would feel very sad if an oil spilled happen here, because I wouldn't be able to eat salmon. If I would, I will die.

I think the video was about the oil spill that happened in the video. I think the government paid, or the person who spilled the oil. I would say about, $1,000,000 Dollars plus taxes and fees. I can make an connection to this because I've been to lakes and rivers and I saw oil following boats around. I think this disaster happened from a boat, ferrie, or a random person dumping oil in the river. I would feel worried for all the animals dying and For the people. All of our food (fish) Will my soaked in oil, So it wont be edible.

4) Their might be a hole in the pipes and there might be a leak that way or a oil spill like Exxon Valdez.

6) Terrified because the marine animal will die and some of the mammals will eat them and also die and on, and that will affect the food chain because every animal relay on others to feed on.

1.) This video is about oil spilling, leading to disaster, the company getting sued.
2.) The government. Then they sued Exxon.
3.) I think it should be $40,000 for every animal that dies from the oil.
4.) Kinder Morgan better keep his paws off the oil, or he might end up in Exxon's shoes. They both have oil to deal with.
5.) They could possibly prevent this if they've hired better engineers to create the pipes.
6.) I would feel bad because it would kill a lot of fish and stuff and all that oil will go to waste. There is only so much oil in 1 planet. Or we can go to Mars and prey to god we find oil or bones.

The Exxon Valdez oil spill.

1) This is about the oil spill that Exxon the tank tried to doge an ice berg , but was to late and ran over it . This all happened on March , 24, 1987.

2) Exxon payed for the clean.

3) They spent over 3.8 billion dollars for the clean up.

4)They both have something to do with oil. Which could harm people , animals , nature and the environment.

5) I think they could have avoided this by finding a natural or different way . Which would have to include not hurting the environment and life.

6) I would be very sad and no one could go on the beaches! In the video 25 years had past and they could still see oil! Like no going in summer ?! That would suck. I would be very upset. ( See I'm already getting mad , thinking about it)

2.) I think it was Exxon Valdez!

3.) I'd say it would be 1 million to 1.5 million, because that is really bad for the animals. As you could see in the video it showed a lot of injured animals because of the oil spill.

4.) The connection is that this could happen with Kinder Morgan's pipe line.

5,) If the person who was driving the boat was more careful.

6.) If this happened by Vancouver I would be really mad, because cars could crash if the oil makes it on the roads and kill a lot of people. It will also kill lots of animals and make our city look more bad.

2. The Exxon's crew would clean it up

3. How much people charged them, to remove the ship, and to pay the workers

4. It's kinda related to Kinder Morgan because people from 1989 would protest because they wouldn't want a oil spill to occur to cause the same damage it had caused in 1989

5. They could've changed courses when they saw a glacier breaking apart

6. I would feel be mad because they should've had background knowledge of how to prevent it when it happens in 1989.

I think this is about oil spills. Exxon probley paid to clean up. I think it costed 8Million$. This could happen with kinder Morgan because I remember mr.redican telling us that there wasn't a single boat that hasent had an oil spillage and I think this is what will happen with kinder Morgan. If I could go back in time I wouldn't do anything because I wouldn't be able to do anything. I would be that guy in the background saying SHAME ON YOU! Shame on you! Shame on you! And what are you going to tell you grandchildren?!! If there was an big oil spill like that I would look at it feel bad and than move away.

3.)the way the cost would be to clean it up should be the same amount they paid to do this project

4.)i think since they are both going over seas an oil spill could take place but who knows how large they'res will be
