Zones of Regulation

Today, the students learned about self-regulation and mindfulness. More specifically, they learned about the Zones of Regulation. Parents, please take a look at the link above to read a little bit about the Zones. In addition to this, they learned how to write an acrostic poem using inspirational words. Students will finish off their good copies in class tomorrow. We are all looking forward to a wonderful year of learning! The learning never stops!

1.) READING: Read for 30 minutes and log it in your planner/calendar. Have your parents sign it.

2.) NOTICES:

Return any forms not yet returned.
2 FreshGrade notices that went home today
Immunization forms (Gr.6 only)
Dance/gymnastics forms and $24 (Logan and Sameer)
Yellow library form
Blue leadership form

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Today, you learned about the different zones of regulation. Click here to review the poster you looked at today.
In paragraph form, write about one of the zones that you were in at some point today. Be sure to explain why you were in the green, red, yellow, or blue zone. Use a specific example of why you were in the specific zone.
Give at least 1 student a suggestion on how to improve their paragraph.

Today morning I was in the blue zone because it was tiring, and painful.

I'm talking about BEFORE I went to school and for some reason my body hurt BADLY.I felt so tired and I felt like it was three o'clock in the morning and I REALLY wanted to go back to sleep. So I was REALLY in the blue zone.

For some reason, when I left home and went to school, I wasn't tired or hurt anymore so I wasn't in the blue zone anymore.

Today in school I was in the green zone because I felt TOTALLY fine and I didn't scream for food and water, though in the morning when I woke up I felt a HUGE urge to keep on sleeping, and it was really cold.

Today i was in the green/blue zone.

The reason i was in mixed zones was because this morning i woke up at around 6am which is earlier than i usually wake up, which is 7:30. Because i woke up so early i was tired and grumpy but i tried to not show it. I wasn't really focused and was daydreaming a lot.

As the day went by i slowly went into the green zone. I became more energized and was fully aware of what was happening. I started feeling happy and satisfied. Then shortly after the school day as over.

Today I was in the green zone. I felt happy and calm. I was ready to learn. My morning was great because I had my favourite meal for breakfast. It was peanut butter and banana sandwich. My day was good because I had a good night sleep.

I was in the green zone because I don’t have to go to the badminton lesson today, and the tomato in our garden is red now, I haven’t taste it yet, I think it might be delicious. I am also in the blue zone becuase today my best friend went back to China this morning, I really don’t want her to leave, and my second reason is today is school day, school day usually make me feel unhappy.

When I went to school, I am still in the green zone until I fell on the ground.My teeth was very painful and I was in the blue zone.

However, my teeth were much better after school.

I am going to describe most of my entire day because I can.

At around the morning I felt mostly green today, for some reason i just looked forward to the day. At around school time i was leaning towards the blue side but not completely, I just felt a bit tired. During the morning class time i was green just because I wanted to be ready for work and look forward to any break we get, class is usually pretty boring but for some reason I'm much more interested when Mr. Hong talks. When we were recreating the draft of the acrostic poem into a cleaner and more designed fashion, i felt a mix of both yellow and blue; I felt yellow for the fact that designing the letters was difficult and i was just sitting there working, I felt blue because i was tired from trying to make it look really nice. When we were told to run some laps, i surprisingly felt really green because at that moment i fully understood why he was so calm when we didn't do so well; It was because he was allowing us to see how we are now and by the end of the year look back and see how much we could've improved.

Today I was mostly in the green zone.I felt happy, because today I ate my breakfast on time. And everything went well, until lunch break when I play basketball. It first went well, but then I accidentally tripped someone over. And then I started to worried about that person's hand. So the zone I am in today is mostly green zone and a little bit of yellow zone.

Today, I was in the green zone for the whole day. Mainly it was because everything went well and everything was fun. I was maybe in the blue zone a little bit because I woke up a little early, but throughout the day, it was less blue and more green. I really liked doing the acrostic poem, which is something in the green zone, but I did not like the 10 minute run in the middle of class.

I think going outside really helped me get more awake because I didn’t yawn at all after going outside and running around like a mad person. I was also in the green zone after lunch when we were doing art I was really focused on finishing my work, but I was still chitchatting with my neighbours.

Today, I was in the green zone because I was feeling overjoyed for another school day with best teacher in the world. At recess, I moved to the yellow zone. When my friends and I were playing soccer, two more kids interfered and messed up our game. I was very angry, but I didn't throw a temper tantrum.
After lunch, I was back in the green zone; I was very happy about what happened at lunch break; I enjoyed a proper game of soccer this time.
During art, I had one foot in the blue zone, and one in the yellow. It was very frustrating to think of inspirational phrases, and I was tired from thinking so hard. But, at the end, I was back in the green zone because I felt proud of myself that I worked hard to come up with so many inspiring sentences.
After school, I transitioned into the blue zone, since I am very sleepy due to the fact that I went out for dinner with my family somewhere far from home, and I wrote this as soon as I got back.

Today at school and after school, I was mostly in the blue and green zones, and was in the yellow zone for a short amount of time. Tomorrow, I hope to stay in the green zone at all times.

Today we learned about ZONES
And what do zones mean
Well zones are all about the emotions and feeling we keep on creating in our body and that constantly makes us think of things that maybe make us sad,mad,happy,chill,frustrated or sometimes even OUT OF CONTROL!
But the point is these zone and colours also help us control or get rid of bad emotions like mad,angry and frusturated.
So this is called selfregulate witch means clam ourselves down and not getting to hyper!

I would say that I was more of in between the blue and green zone today but I’m leaning more towards the blue.

I woke up this morning and I was just slightly tired because for some reason I kept on waking up in the middle of the night, yesterday. I was pretty bored throuout the day since my best friend had just left for highschool and I was moving pretty slowly throughout the day, but I feel like that’s normal for me because I actually don’t like to move fast. I’m just not a fast person. I’m pretty much usually somewhere between blue and green everyday. Just bored all the time. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, I’m just not an enthusiastic person.

At the start of the day I was in the blue zone because I had to wake up early but I changed to the yellow zone really quickly because we are changing desks. I was exited about that because I sit in a table with only girls. But just when we were going the switch desks Mr.Hong said that we are going to do it tomorrow so that just made me go to the blue zone again because I was sad. but the rest of the day was good because I was in the green zone. And for tomorrow, I hope I can stay in the green zone for the whole day. :)

I thought I was mostly in the green zone today?

Everything goes well I guess? It’s like a normal school day to me. As usual, we had recess to take rest, chat with your friends just like I do. I thought it was the perfect time for me to put down the stress I had during the lessons. Recess time were just right, did you notice that it always come a few hours after learning, just enough for me. (Because I’ll never tell you that I thought the time wasn’t enough for me to chat with my friends haha.

I first went to an apple store to fix my “broken iPhone”, which couldn’t download or upgrade any apps. 4 hours passed, and the employees told me that the only fix is to reset and give up all your data? Well, if that’s not frustrating enough, then I have more! When I came home, I immediately realized that I forgot to do my homework. I started working on my acrostic poem (I was too behind), and I accidentally ripped it by erasing too hard. I restarted completely. I was completely in the red zone at that time, but at least it’s all fixed now. What a great (no sarcasm at all) day it was!

Today I was in the Green zone because that’s what I normally be at every morning at the afternoon I’ll be usually in Red zone because I sometimes have classes after school sometimes. At the night I’ll be at the Blue zone because I am tired because of the other classes that I went too. I also I’m going to be at the blue zone again at midnight or under. Then I wake up and be at the green zone.
