Monitor Comprehension!

Today, Mr. Bains gave the students a pop quiz on GCF and LCM. Ongoing assessments give us a better idea of who has been completing their HW on a daily basis and who needs extra support! You will upload these to FreshGrade tomorrow! Students learned a new reading strategy today. They learned about different ways they can monitor their comprehension as they read. They completed a visible thinking activity with Shel Silverstein's, "Lester." They are getting lots of practice using these reading strategies with the Novel Approach!
IMPORTANT:
1.) If you haven't showed Mr. Bains your math test from last week, signed by your parents, please do that tomorrow. He will check to make sure you returned your test.
2.) Remind your parents to sign up for a video conference. The link was sent out to them by email today.
3.) MEME ASSIGNMENTS - Overdue.

LEARNING:
1.) LA/READING/NOVEL APPROACH:

Complete your 'MONITORING COMPREHENSION' visible thinking and graphic organizers.

2.) SCIENCE:

Complete 'Our House is on Fire' handout (Responding to quotes). Due tomorrow!

3.) MATH:

Watch this video to prepare for tomorrow's math lesson! You will be learning about divisibility rules!

POST A RESPONSE:

Your task today is to complete EVERYTHING that was asked on yesterday's PAR!
In addition to this, you will write a message here indicating you have completed what has been asked of you. Students who do not complete yesterday's PAR and all required components, will receive an INCOMPLETE.
If you complete everything, you will be re-evaluated on FRESHGRADE. If you do not, your assessment/evaluation will stay the same.
LEARNING INTENTION: I can follow instructions and follow criteria.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) Complete everything listed in yesterday's PAR success criteria.
2.) Write a message here indicating that you posted your paragraph, posted your self-assessment, and posted your edited/revised version of your paragraph. <------REQUIRED!

Just look at other students paragraphs and when you read to about the point where the other students had written their connections, that's about the area they are on (I forgot where I read to, it was on chapter 47/48/49 I think)

@ Keira - No. Please follow the criteria for today. You must state the three things you completed on yesterday's par. Your statement must include very clearly what you did (not your paragraph from yesterday).

@ Mr. Hong - I did follow the criteria. I wrote what I could improve on from my self-assessment and then posted my revised version. I should have made myself more clear from the comment before. I just needed to make sure that I didn't have to post it here as well.

@ Mika - Please write in complete sentences. Did you complete your paragraph? Your message today doesn't state if you did or not. I can infer you did and I read your paragraph, but the criteria today asks for everyone to state clearly what you did.

SELF ASSESSMENT

The first thing that I think I can improve in my paragraph is adding more detailed sentences. Detailed sentences can make the reader more interested in your paragraph

The second thing that I might want to improve on my paragraph is writing a more engaging hook. With an engaging hook in your paragraph can make the reader find your paragraph more interesting and exciting!

The character in the book that I can connect to is Carly ,First Carly doesn't get used to where she is that fast and I am also like that and Carly lies an awful lot and I obviously can connect to that too. Second, Carly also feels like running away in awkward situations and I also feel like that sometimes when I am in awkward and annoying situations. Lastly she passes the time with odds things and I also pass the time by fidgeting with something too such as using my fingers and stuff that is in my desk.

I had many sentences that could go together but I split them up into paragraphs, so that is something I can revise. Yes I did have some words that I spelled wrong on purpose so I will be revising that too. I had also forgot some capitals after brakes.

So similar... I would say I'm a lot like Carley. Now you may be asking, Really?! Let me explain. So as you have probably already noticed Carley lies a lot, and yes I do lie but not a lot. In more detail I only tell "white lies", lies that are not harmful, while Carley on the other hand lies about all her character flaws and things she does not like.

Carley does not get comfortable fast what so ever and that same goes to me. The only difference is that I never ever get used to adults!
Carley has taken basket ball lessons before, and so have I.
Lastly, Carley does weird things to kill time and I'm no different. For example I count things around a room or play with my fingers.

Do you feel like you can relate to someone? I do because the book One for the Murphys have a lot of characters that will connect with you. I think the character I relate to is Toni. Why? Because she loves music like I do and is friendly too. She also likes to exagerate like I do ;-;. That's why I think I can relate to Toni the most out of all the characters.
